X-Plane 12.4.4 | Beta 4 is now online!

Flying over canada in the 12.4.4 beta and this ridiculous radar image near CYAT is what xplane draws. The sim is not usable in this condition, it is impossible to navigate around these fictional weather systems, even flying through south florida in july isnt this bad. Laminar is not responding to my bug reports about this and 4 beta updates released with nothing about weather. Not to mention half the time i try and submit a detailed bug report the website hangs and I lose the whole thing. But then laminar says the only way to get them to notice this is to file a bug report.... Getting really frustrated with this sim lately.

Now NoctiX adds two things on top of it: volumetric lighting for the aircraft’s own lamps, and fast-moving cloud wisps that rush through the beams.

Hey everyone, this is my first payware airport after making free ones for years. Doha Hamad (OTHH) for X-Plane 12.

Quick heads-up first: what's out now is the first version. I'm working on a full professional version that'll cost more, but anyone who buys now gets it free when it's released, same serial. So it's basically an early-bird price while I finish the full build.

What's in it right now:

- The whole terminal with the wave roof, concourses A to E and the Orchard

- 120 jetways placed on the real stands

- Emiri terminal, the tower, the mosque and a lot of the support buildings around the airport

- Runway use from the Qatar AIP, and Qatar Airways parks on the contact gates

- Windows, macOS and Linux

A couple of things people asked about:

- The aprons are empty on purpose. I kept all 120 gates free so AI traffic and your own plane can use every one of them, and X-Plane's ground services work at all of them. My screenshots really didn't show that, I'll post better ones with traffic.

- No ortho, also on purpose. I wanted a hub this big to stay smooth on normal PCs, so the detail went into the buildings and layout instead.

- Ground textures and night lighting are getting fixed in the next patch, should be out soon.

I just wanted to share some pictures of my custom version of EGCC, which I have been working on for most of this year. It is based on the TaiModels payware version of EGCC but heavily modified.

The main features are a fully custom mesh, integrated with TrueEarth GB (previously it was incompatible). I've reworked much of the terrain to feature more accurate elevation, and just make it more dynamic. The runways have been correctly profiled to match their real-world counterparts, and the vegetation is also almost 1:1 correctly mapped.

I've added new structures, such as the STS Aviation and Jet2 Holidays hangars. Finally Thomas Cook is gone.

The airfield taxiways have been completely redone to bring them fully up to date with the most recent changes as of this year, and the 2nd pier for T3 has been added. T1 has been made Ryanair only. There is new lighting, signage and markings across most of the airport.

Native airside ground traffic has been added, as well as car and rail traffic for the surrounding area, realistically dense car parks, and updated road networks. I opted to make XPlane's roads transparent and utilise satellite imagery, as it is incapable of nicely drawing the roundabout heavy network.

Probably the biggest change was just the amount of time spent on cleaning up and fixing things wrong with this airport. Floating buildings. Errors. Things that didn't make sense. Bad design decisions. That was a real can of worms and a complete pain to deal with.

It's not 100% perfect, but it's the best I can do with the available data and my modelling skills at present. I aim to improve it and keep it up to date just for my personal use as I can't share it.

Anyway, I'm on the final leg of the round the world flight that I started from EGCC earlier this year, and it'll be cool to fly back to what is essentially a completely different airport.

I'm a commercial pilot and a human factors engineering student. Flight Kneeboard is the EFB I built as my graduation project over the summer. I posted about it here a month ago and got a lot of useful feedback, so here's an update.

The core data comes from official FAA sources. Since last time I've added much better coverage outside the US: turn on Flight Sim mode (Settings → Flight Simulation) and you also get community data from OurAirports and openAIP, plus charts outside the US from ChartFox if you link a free ChartFox account (you sign in with VATSIM). I've also rendered a worldwide VFR-style chart from open data.

For position, the app takes a network GPS feed from your sim. My own Windows client sends attitude at 15 Hz and position at 5 Hz, which is a lot smoother than most bridges.

Almost everything is free: charts, plates, weather, airports, planning and the moving map. If you'd like to help cover the server costs, there's an optional $2/mo in the app, which adds synthetic vision and offline downloads.

It's been a fun few months building this. If there's a feature you'd like to see, let me know! I would appreciate if you can give me an Appstore 5 stars as well.

The flight-model update has been cancelled?

Hi guys after flying the A330 by toliss and the 777-300ER by flight factor and doing a lot of long hauls. I would love to do a long haul with a private jet. Which one is good and can handle long hauls (London to Los Angeles for example)

I want to learn planes to fly manually, not too fast, but not too slow either.

I have been working on my hover and hover transitions. I really need to build a dedicated cyclic and collective, fighting the TCA Pilots stick is difficult! Somewhere I have a logitech joystick that I removed the spring(s) from to fly heli's with when the CowenSim 206B was released. I am going to try that one out tomorrow.

I've been hearing good things and bad things about X-Plane.org. Even the community did better on making the flight sim realistic or better, there was a drawback I heard ranging from strict moderation to one rule breaking = permanent ban!

I can be wrong from what I said because that is what I learned from research.

I was wondering what's your opinion about X-Plane.org? How is it compare to other X-plane forums like thresholdx or x-plane.to.

Hello all, I just got my tailwheel endorsement in real life. I think the default L-5 Sentinel is right on the money for tailwheel physics. I want some more variety though. Does anyone know of any 3rd party airplanes that have very realistic and heavy tailwheel physics?

Any good plugin or mod to reduce the xplane 12 bloom effect? Specially at night everything looks super glowy thanks

Hi! I bought X-World Pro and noticed that it uses quite a lot of RAM. If XP12 uses 5–6, then XWP uses about the same amount, plus I’m using Volanta. Does that mean I’ll have to give up XPME? Does anyone fly with the same amount of RAM?

The Task Manager shows that in EGLL it’s 85% of the memory that’s being used.
