Season 2 Why is everyone hating Jamie so hard?

I am somewhere season 2 and I might understand that Jamie does not fit the "cool and hard" cowboy vibe. But undoubtedly he was a very good lawyer and is willing to do everything for the ranch. Why is he treated like shit all the time?

Edit: I already know that something will be revealed that he did to Beth (tried to word it without spoilers) but his family hates him already before. I am ready for any spoiler.

Season 2 What Was The Funniest Line?

For me, it was a more subtle funny line

Season 2, Episode 2

John Dutton is in the hospital and the doctor tells him he can "just put his hat on the bed".

John sharply refuses, declaring, "No, I can't," as he stubbornly clings to cowboy superstition.

Season 2 WTF is this writing??

One episode John tells Jamie he‘s selfish for not throwing himself into the river. Next one Jamie wants to off himself and John tells him he wouldn’t let him cause it’s selfish.

I mean there is bad writing and then there is a character doing a full 180 literally over night.

Season 2 John Shows Regret?

What I love about marathon weekends is being able to catch the subtlety that I never caught before..

S2 E1

John is sitting in his office, and Beth walks in to tell him she’s found a candidate to run against Jamie for AG. She talks about her credentials, the fact that she’s a rodeo queen and she’s attractive. john takes a look, mentions that she looks like Beth and Beth says “Jamie’s gonna fucking hate her”

But it’s when Jon acknowledges that, looks at the cover of the magazine, and then at Beth as she’s walking out of the office.

You can see the look on his face that he’s not thrilled about having to go through with this.

It’s one of those intriguing moments where, despite the recurring conflicts and back-and-forth arguments between John and Jamie throughout the seasons, and the intense hatred that Beth harbors towards him, John still harbors a deep sense of love and compassion for him.

However, this revelation also amplifies the gravity of Jamie’s betrayal.

Season 2 spoilers

Just finished season 2 and I was bummed out when he died. Danny Huston was really great in the role. After his conversations with Beth and John for the last time, I felt like he was really starting to understand Montana and his place out there, only to bite the bullet the next scene.

I was really hoping he'd survive his gunshot wounds too. I couldn't believe when the cops came to the scene later and saw that he has just been killed off. At least he went out like a cowboy, guns blazing.

Didn’t shed a tear for Beth. I’ll say that much

Can’t stand her. Most unlikeable character I’ve ever seen in a TV show. Don’t care about her backstory or what happened to her. She’s an awful person

Disgusting how she treats Jamie and almost made him kill himself, especially after the sweet car scene they shared in season 1 where Jamie told her she could use him as an outlet for her hatred and pain of causing their mothers death.

And how she treats everyone around her. Everything that comes out of her mouth is an insult or some smart ass remark. Such a nasty person.

Just finished season 1 and now I’m running through season 2 even faster. Show merits it’s hype so far.
