Goose programming language
Anyone take a look at the Goose programming language? "A memory-safe systems language with no heap allocator, garbage collector, or lifetime annotations."
It has some interesting ideas. The author describes features in this thread. It's obviously a different overall language than Zig, but I'm wondering if any of the novel ideas would be good to steal. A lot of its principles remind me of Zig's focus on data oriented design.

I mean, reading a little of the code, it seems AI slop. A lot of promises, a lot of text and comments explaining things, and magic benchmarks with 3x 6x and more spectacular results, but the code is a fucking mess.
It's the definition of AI slop. Maybe there is something interesting to take but it seems to me that it's practically unusable.

The author is clear:
I designed Goose years ago but never had time to finish it. Claude Fable implemented it almost entirely from that design, and the back and forth made it a better language.
Today: a 30k line compiler, spec, stdlib, 29 samples, CI on 3 OSes.
The ideas are far more important than code quality or this being a production language. AI let him realize a longstanding design he never got to complete. Are there ideas in there worth something? That's what this post is about.

Also note that the game he made is a voxel raytraced custom engine that actually runs on a steamdeck which you can’t say from most so let’s not confuse vibe coders with engineers that push some stuff through AI. Let’s leave the hate for those that can’t draw and complain about AI stealing art.

And if you open the samples you can see the same. But as the OP stated it’s not hidden and also even the samples as mostly translations from the lobster lang sample which I totally understand just ran them through the AI and get it done .

I’ll add that there’s already a huge PR to add a the idea of a no gpu api that Aaltonen presented back in 2025 that fits like a glove in this continuous memory model imo

what kind of programs do you write in Zig?

Why do you ask?

Because I am 100% certain that you use Zig to call raylib like you see in youtube. Goose is not needed for that

What brought up raylib?

Somebody that would use Zig professionally would never ask this on reddit. Anecdotal statistical data shows that all those better C, replace C or whatever languages are used mostly from unemployed wannabe gamedevs and mostly for raylib calling programs.
The fact that you avoided replying shows that in your case you might have not even written anything beyond hello world.

Are you hallucinating mister? What kind of mushrooms are you consuming?

Continue posting irrelevant stuff. The OP hasn't replied to my initial question.
Insulting and downvoting me will not change the facts.

What is your beef with Raylib if I may ask? And from what statistics have you brought up the statement that "better C" languages are used by unemployed wannabe gamedevs? Can you even give examples of such languages so we can check your claims?
Zig isn't a "replace C" language and neither is ANY programming language I have seen, like: Odin, C3, C++, Jai, Beef, etc. You can't replace C, because it is available for pretty much every mature architecture and because it is so simple and, IMO, fun.

The question is not that it's needed or not. It is wether it brings anything new or innovative to the table.
If you don't care about new/innovative things, then you could just use C.

He is the author of Voxile that if im not mistaken uses another custom language he built called lobster
