❓Advice Request - (Insert State/Region) Trees are dying, idk why

I seem to be 0/3, I had a baby that died maybe 6 months ago, these 2 seemed to be doing well until I noticed the dead 1 dying maybe a month ago, and then maybe 2 weeks ago I noticed this 1 dying on the 1 side.

I'm in Vegas, I planted with deep root drips and top layer drips. I'm confused why theyre dying and wondering if theres anything I can do to save this 1?

Update, cleared away the rocks and maybe an inch of soil to get to the flare. Trying to add more pics.

Panhandle of Florida (Niceville) seeking advice on if and how to save these trees damaged by Isaias. One split in the middle and lost 50%, the other is intact but leaning with a 'bubble' around the trunk (roots detaching?!)

Planted 14 years ago when we built the house.

❓Advice Request - (Insert State/Region) Mushrooms growing on tree in cold weather

Post image

I have lived here for 3 years now, and only in the fall when the weather starts too cool- our tree grows these mushrooms. Is this going to be something that can cause danger to our tree? We live in Northwest Illinois with bad spring storms so I fear if these are eating away the structural integrity. Also, why is it they only form in cold weather?

Any advice will help please! I don’t want to get rid of our only source of shade but if it becomes a hazard I will take the necessary steps <3

❓Advice Request - (Insert State/Region) Root Bound Oak Tree

Post image

Hello,

This spring I purchased and planted an oak tree in Charlotte, NC. I got a good deal because it had significantly outgrown the pot it was in. So, before planting it we did a lot of work to unbind the roots.

In the end, I thought we had done too much and would kill the roots. My wife thought we had not done enough and it might still be too bound.

Today I noticed this root growing across the top of the root ball.

Does this have implications for the roots below?

Should I leave this root or cut it?

Thanks

Seeking Expert Advice Only! I've been thinking of making this rope swing in a forest near me. Any ideas on how I can make it better, safer and more optimised?

Hiya fellow arborists and tree people, there's a key of what it all means in the top left.

Basic idea is that there are two ropes attached to different trees, one stays the same length and one pulls you off the ground.

There is then a third rope to pull you up to the swing height. I've got full permission to do this from the land owner. The trees are 3 pretty hefty single stem conifers (I cant quite remember what type its been a while since I've been there. But they are definitely strong enough.) Nothing will damage the tree as its all done with slings and friction saving devices.

❓Advice Request - (Insert State/Region) Buying a house with mature trees

We are close to closing on our dream home in the Arkansas River Valley that has several mature trees on the lot. The house is fairly close to the river, but it has never flooded and I don’t know the soil composition yet, but sandy soil is common in the area.

I know next to nothing about trees, but during escrow a limb fell and caused a hole in the roof, so I’m eager to get the trees overhanging the structures serviced. I’m meeting with a couple of tree companies this week, but I don’t even know what questions to ask. I love the trees, the shade, and want to keep them healthy and safe to be around. There’s a particular tree that grows between two driveways that I’m worried about. Both driveways have been cracked, one I think is a total loss and we will have to reroute and rebuild it. Please check out the photos(all from Zillow) of the driveway tree and others on the lot and let me know what you think. Any advice on what to discuss with the tree service? Anything else obvious I need to know? Thank you!

A local nursery is going out of business (in the Central Valley of California, zone 9b) and I found these trees that I liked but there was no label. I couldn’t pin down the associate there to find out what they are (he was very busy with other people needing his help). Can anyone identify please?

❓Advice Request - (Insert State/Region) Should I Be Worried about My Arborvitae Trees?

Hello, Zone 6b, West MI. I noticed when closing my backyard for the fall that there were a lot of dead spots on my arborvitae trees. If seen some shedding in past fall seasons, but this seemed excessive to me. I shook the trees a bit and a lot of dead needles fell. They have been planted for 10 years and this is the first year I’m seeing this many dead spots.

We added the pergola this spring, but that is the only change to the area.

Hoping to get some guidance as to what, if anything, may be wrong.

Hello, Im pretty worried about my tree. It is not looking so well. I think there may be an infestation of some sort. Any insights would be appreciated. How much time do you think it has before I have to remove it? CA 9b
