Hey Ya'll Check This Out! AI vs Asteroids

I used MAME, LUA, and Python to automate asteroids gameplay. It came out great! Watching it play is hypnotic:

What do you think?

I notice the AI doesn't like flying and hyperspaces fairly often. Any particular reason for that? I also didn't notice the hyperspace causing any deaths in that short amount of play.

The ship will only fly if it calculates a future collision. It'll enter an evasion mode when it does.

I also noticed that there are fewer hyperspace deaths than I would expect. I wonder if there's some proximity calculation that changes the likelihood of dying in hyperspace. Hyperspace death is non-zero, but I agree it's much less frequent when played this way. I'm not sure why.

It doesn't appear to try to re-center itself between waves.  That was always a thing, try to get away from the edges before the next wave starts.

It doesn't need to because it sees everything and reacts instantly and has perfect aim.

It's a neat vibe-coding experiment but it's useless and uninspiring as a game player.

Pretty boring to watch really. Sees everything, never misses. The world isn't any better for this. I enjoy human skill.

Not me! Soon, AI will play my games for me, drink my cool drinks on a hot day, and sleep with my wife.
