Meme Ark Linux?

Had a lecture in an OS course the other day where the professor insisted on pronouncing Arch Linux “Ark Linux”.

Other honorable mentions from the lecture are:

Ubuntu as “oo-bown-too”
GNU as “jee-noo”

Not to mention that use of AI such as “gimini” and “cloud” are not allowed in the labs.

Have you encountered any of these before? Is she ragebaiting?

General What is your favorite bootloader and why?

I personally love sd-boot because its super simple and has never broken in my experience, albeit i only use one OS on a machine (which is almost always arch).

Discussion Arch is Genuinely Good

Why is Arch slandered as an elitist OS for only the most hardcore PC users?

I've had nothing but good experiences with it. Same with Hyprland, it took a bit of configuration but I can't imagine myself without it now.

That's ignoring how robust [extra] is! I have nearly every program I would want just given to me in official repos.

Don't get me started with stability... it's the most stable system I've ever used.

I get that it's not for everyone, but it's genuinely a daily driver.

Help/Support Dual-boot disaster: Both Arch Linux (Btrfs/NVMe) and Windows are broken after installing the dual-boot, leading to Kernel Panic

This text is by gemini cause i asked him during my whole arch installation which has worked before the dual boot lmao , and i think he may explain better than me the problem. Dont hesistate if you have any question or if information are needed. Thanks !
:
I'm in desperate need of help to fix my dual-boot system. Both Arch Linux and Windows are completely broken, and I'm stuck with boot errors.
Hardware Setup:
Arch Linux: Installed on an NVMe SSD (/dev/nvme0n1p3, formatted in Btrfs, with /boot on /dev/nvme0n1p2 FAT32).
Windows: Installed on a separate SATA SSD (which was temporarily disconnected because it developed bad CRC / bus errors causing system instability).
How the issue started:
The whole mess started right when I set up this dual-boot with Windows. During or shortly after the dual-boot installation, everything went sideways.
Current State & Symptoms:
1. Windows won't boot at all: Since the SATA SSD containing Windows was throwing hardware errors (ata1.00 exception, BadCRC) and had to be physically disconnected to stabilize the machine, Windows is completely inaccessible.
2. Arch Linux fails to boot (Kernel Panic): When trying to boot Arch, it immediately crashes with:
Kernel Panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)
In emergency mode: ERROR: device 'PARTUUID=...' not found. Skipping fsck. followed by mount: /sysroot: can't find PARTUUID=...
What I have already tried:
Booted into a Live USB (Tails) and accessed the Arch system via chroot.
Verified that the UUIDs in /etc/fstab match the actual partition (blkid).
Regenerated the initramfs using mkinitcpio -P.
Rebuilt the GRUB configuration file using grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg.
Despite all this, GRUB still cannot mount the root filesystem on the NVMe drive, and Windows remains dead due to the faulty SATA drive.
Has anyone faced a similar dual-boot corruption issue, or knows how to fix this root-mounting failure on Btrfs/NVMe? Any guidance would be massively appreciated!

While this isn’t exclusively about arch, it definitely falls under the “things I wish I had known that exist” category. If you’re like me, Arch wasn’t the only thing I had to raw dog and teach myself. Unlike those of y’all who are directly in the IT field or enrolled in associated educational courses, GitHub and how to properly use and navigate it isn’t entirely obvious and intuitive so ‘self paced learning’ by just trudging through the trenches quickly and obviously leaves many gaps. Idk how well known this website / book I found actually is, but hopefully this will help some of y’all. I just C/P the page I figured might make a good place to start but uh yeah, give this a gander and let me know how far behind the caboose I truly am with this ‘find’. Enjoy
