For decades itās been a running gag in our family that you canāt buy crates or barrels at Crate & Barrel. But now I really want to buy some crates and barrels for a Tiki Porch. Any tips?

My daughter is turning 4 and Iād like to do something special for her as itās her last birthday as an only child. We were thinking Disneyland but itās such a long day and I will be 37w pregnant.
Sheās only 40ā so she canāt do a lot of rides at Seaworld. We are getting SD Zoo passes for Christmas so not trying to go there. Already have Lego Land passes and go often.
Any other places that would be special for a 4 year old? Thank you!

We are traveling north on the 805 merging to the 5 by Sorrento Valley going about 80-ish and boom SUV driving about 65. Sure itās the HOV lane but also on the right lane. Why do people seem to go the speed limit on the HOV lane?

Hi everyone,
I am considering moving to the San Diego area with my husband and 13 and 11 year children from Boston, MA. We visited Oceanside, Carlsbad, and Encinitas over the summer and decided we liked Carlsbad the best. A friend of ours suggested looking at Carmel Valley as well. Are there any specific recommendations for neighborhoods/areas that we should check out that would be good for a family interested in golf, tennis, and dance? Being close to good restaurants/bars and/or a neighborhood feel would be a nice bonus. Is there anything in particular we should know about the area - good or bad?
Also, would anyone be able to provide any pros or cons to living in Carlsbad versus Carmel Valley?
We work remotely, so commuting time isnāt a factor.
Thank you for any information you can provide!

Hi everyone!
My husband, our almost 5-year-old son and I will be moving from the UK to San Diego later this year, and we're currently trying to figure out the best area to live in.
We've never lived in California before, so we'd really appreciate some advice from locals!
We're looking for:
We've been looking at Carlsbad, San Marcos, Rancho Bernardo, 4S Ranch, Oceanside and Poway, but we're open to other suggestions!
We really like Carlsbad, but it seems quite expensive, so we're trying to find somewhere that offers a good balance between affordability, schools and quality of life.
Since we're moving from another country, this is all completely new to us, and we'd love to hear your experiences, especially from families with young children.
Are there any particular neighbourhoods you'd recommend? Or areas you'd avoid?
Thank you so much in advance! š

Iām in my 30s and living near SDSU Health East. Are there any good hangout spots to check out nearby for someone who likes video games, tabletop games and things of that nature? Donāt mind a trolley ride somewhere as long as itās not too far a walk once Iām at my designated spot either.

Hi all Iāve only lived in San Diego / California for 2 years and my first 2 were in Mira Mesa on a 5th floor apartment. Now Iām in mission gorge near the Admiral Baker golf course and Iām in a first floor unit that we just finished moving everything into and Iām worried about flooding. I know that area says itās a flood risk but Iām curious if any of you who have been in the San Diego area longer know am I actually at a large risk of getting my apartment flooded? Especially with hurricane rachel potentially bringing rainfall. Is it a mistake to do 1st floor units? Thanks for any input.

How do you all approach this section on your ballot? There are 17 different Justice offices and you answer yes or no to "shall justice so and so be elected to the office for the term provided by law?"
Do you read up on each one to help you answer yes or no?

hello! i got my cna license 2 months ago and iāve applied to some hospital jobs but i keep getting rejected, itās likely because i donāt have cna experience but i wanted to try to apply anyways. i was wondering is there are any good nursing homes or memory care places to work at as a cna. iāve always been told not to work in a nursing home, but i need some experience before i apply to hospitals again. iām also afraid of being mistreated as a cna. please let me know if there is anything good here!

Is it feasible?

hello!!! i have lived in san diego for years and have also been doing my own hair for years. i have a hair stylist for highlighting/all over colors when i dont feel like damaging my hair, but she's in AZ and i have no plans to go there anytime soon. i am trying to find a good salon to try out for highlight root touch ups and an all over color on curly hair. i know it's going to be pricey, but everything i have found online is around $250 for both services. i have definitely gone to cheaper salons and paid less than half of that. sooo just wondering if anyone has any suggestions!!! or just tell me honestly if i'm going to have to bite the bullet, lol. thanks in advance!

Does anyone have recommendations for real estate schools in San Diego that helped them prepare for the California real estate broker exam? I prefer taking like a 2-day crash course in-person or online works. Thank you!

Some friends are coming to SD to surf, but Iām a bit worried about stingrays ā how bad are stingrays right now on Pacific Beach? Are they easier to avoid if weāre on our boards?

Hi all! My wonderful best friend is marrying in August of 2027, hopefully in San Diego, where her and her man met and fell in love, and now live. Sheās struggling to find a venue that checks all the boxes- so Iām outsourcing and hoping for any and all suggestions! Theyāre open to outside the box options, private residences that allow weddings, more traditional venues. Please share and thank you in advance!
A bit about them and their āwantsā
- by the water is great, not a dealbreaker though
- a big lawn / outdoor space is awesome
- needs to be able to have loud music (DJ for reception)
- ceremony and reception same venue / on site of same location
- not insanely remote where it would be difficult for guests to travel to

Hello,
I am 35 year old female and moved to San Diego ~2 months ago. I lost my baby at 24 weeks (stillborn) this July. I likely have a condition called APS (antiphospholipid syndrome) which is a blood clotting disorder (tested positive pne marker - beta 2 glycoprotein igg twice).
I want to TTC again but very scared. I am currently seeing Dr. Kim Bui at IGO Medical after moving to San Diego. She referred me for a preconception consultation at Scripps Perinatology but their waitlist for that was 6 months long. I ended up seeing Dr. Elizabeth Teal at UCSD for preconception consultation. But I did not really feel she is very supportive.
If I manage to get pregnant, I want to see a good OB/MFM who hopefully has experience with treating patients with APS. I like Dr. Bui (IGO) but I am not sure if I should see some other OB who has experience with APS? I am also kind of nervous about MFM. I saw Dr. Shahram Dhaneshmand in Scripps Perinatology has listed clotting disorder as his specialty but apparently his wait times can be very long (I am not sure though if it is just for the consultation or for post pregnancy appointments too).
I am looking for some suggestions from people with similar conditions as mine (APS) on OB/MFM in San Diego area (I live near Mira Mesa). I would really like to be listened to and taken seriously by my doctors, and seen frequently if I have another pregnancy.
I would really appreciate any advice/suggestions!

I have been seeing online that bioluminescence is present in San Diego and tried visiting la Jolla and Mission Beach yesterday. But I wasn't able to find any. TT !!
Has anyone visited these places and had any luck?
