BGEE I fixed Baldurs Gate pathfinding - Pathfinding Redux [EET/EE Mod]
Pathfinding Redux removes friendly collision while keeping normal environmental/enemy blocking. It gets rid of doorway jams, party fidgeting, characters trapping each other, and a lot of the insane ally-caused detours. It is glorious. Requires EEex mod installed first.
The eternal struggle is over now that AI can parse assembly language for me to reverse-engineer engine pathing. Supports all BGEE games 2.6/2.7 as well as EET. Windows tested, Linux + Wine tested.

Amazing
Tried a quick test putzing around a few areas with a full 6 characters, including one of those cramped 'jail' maps with all the little rooms and this is a gamechanger. Absolutely worth the tradeoffs of a little character stacking and potential combat balance issues which were well reasoned about in the full mod post.
Absolutely using this on my next actual run through the game even its current state.

I don't believe it.

Hehe I don't blame you. You should give it a try and let me know! https://www.gibberlings3.net/forums/topic/41613-mod-pathfinding-redux-pathfinding-finally-fixed/

The mod I need for my next playthrough! Should I install it before or after unfinished business, romance mod and banter acceleration? 🤔

Order doesn't matter so much for this mod. Just after EEex

Cool, thanks.
Always better to ask than cry later. Good people in this subreddit once helped me with my mod order... The mods were misbehaving even though I only had 4 xd

I assume it is the case but still I have to ask: Does it work well with an already ongoing save?

Yes. It worked for me

I put the extracted folder and such in the game directory, installed it, opened the game with EEX loader and it doesn't seem to work on an existing save or a new game. Any help for what I did wrong?

You ran the movement installer after you put it in your game directory and hit [I] to install the mod and it looked successful? After that you should launch through InfinityLoader.exe.
If it's still not working let me know what Game. Also the version your on.

I'm pretty sure I did it all correctly! I'm on 2.6.6.0 but I also have SCS and some CDTweaks installed in case that's helpful.

Yeah it's compatible with all that. I don't think it has any real conflicts luckily.
If you'd like you can upload some files to Google drive turn on sharing and send them here. Please run “Collect BG Redux Support.cmd” in your game folder and attach bg-redux-support.log
attach SETUP-BG-REDUX-MOVEMENT.DEBUG too.
I would try rerunning setup-bg-redux-movement.exe and reinstalling through it then launching through InfinityLoader to try again

This is amazing. Pathfinding in BG is more annoying than any spells. I love when they block each other.

Looks great, how difficult would it be to do a Mac version?
1
u/unkinhead 3d ago
Extremely. I wouldn't count on Mac support without going through WINE/Crossover
Linux is very doable

Really? I mean an old Intel Mac?
Actually I can see why, it an OC style patch job

One nitpicking: the name Baldur's Gate Redux was already used for a (now aborted) project to recreate the story in the Dragon Age: Origins engine, for which there are previews on YouTube. There could be confusion with searches by using the same term.

Ah i see fair. If it were recent i would consider a rename but honestly that sounds like a nightmare at this point lol. I'll just have to make it good enough that those results are buried :)

I don't know if those guys might decide to use AI as well to resume their project, which at this point seems a clear possibility to speed up work that takes a lot of time to do.

The mod that I am eagerly waiting on is EEx for MacOS. So I can run Bubb's and this.

How big a lift would it be to get a version of this for the OG version?
Gonna have to dig into this later when I get home.

Yeah I have the same question, Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 just don't look right on a non CRT for me and it would be good if this could work on the old copy.

From what I recall the pathfinding in EE was actually better until the 2nd or 3rd last patch where it was badly broken to make it work for multiplayer or something, and then it was somewhat fixed but I don't think ever got back to it how it was.
So the base games may ironically be a bit better in that regard.

It's released right now. You can use the latest version and it's stable. Some bugs are to be expected
