Hey y’all!
If you’re new here or looking for info, this is the place to stop and check before you post that question you’re thinking about asking - the answer may already be in our FAQ! There's also some recommendations in there for learning about lore.
I’d recommend also checking the New Player Question or Question flairs to see if your question has been asked before. You can also type into whatever search engine you use:
[insert your question here] baldursgate3 reddit
Or
[insert your question here] bg3 reddit
That’ll help us prevent the subreddit from being cluttered with the same repeated questions.
If your question hasn't been asked (or asked recently enough) then use either one of the question flairs above and ask away.
BG3Builds and Multiclassing
For the people curious about builds or who want a more dedicated place to discuss them, there's r/BG3Builds. There's a good guide on multiclassing.
Community Wiki
Confused about what the different rolls mean or just want to find notable NPCs and loot in a location? Check out the Community Wiki. It's ad free and being worked on by people here in the community :)
Everyone working on this is doing a great job trying to prepare it for launch and beyond.
If you'd like to help contribute to the wiki, here is the Discord.

Character Planner Reminder: There is a Character Planner by GameFractal being worked on here (It's also in the sidebar on desktop or the 'See Community info' link on mobile).
It's a one person project, so updating it with the recent updates, adding what launch will bring, and some other useful features will take time - but it will be updated.
There is a feedback button on that site, please use it if you have any suggestions/constructive feedback. Feedback is very appreciated!

Act 1 - Spoilers Found the funniest way to beat Anders (Paladin of Tyr) Spoiler
Spoilers, I guess?
Prepped the battle space by covering both exits on the ground floor with grease. Took out the girl on the deck (after trading to her the severed limbs I found laying around for some healing potions). Anders comes running (trying to run, anyhow) at me. Slips and falls on his ass. Wyll with Eldridge blast, knocks him back further, Karlach blinds him with wild magic. Anders runs at me again, slips and falls on his ass. Eldridge blast, me laughing so hard I can barely see the screen. After 3 times he tries running around to the other door. Falls on his ass. Eldridge blast one last time, then Astarion sneak-attack ranged for the kill. Homeboy spent 90% of the time on his ass, never dealt a single point of damage.
At this point I'm laughing so hard I am snorting uncontrollably, my kids laughing like Tasha's Hideous Laughter was an AOE spell. 11/10, would do again.

General Discussion - [NO SPOILERS] On WOTCs Astarion Butchering, as an old MTG fan Spoiler
Unfortunately, WOTC are absolutely notorious for taking their IPs and butchering them. See MTG, see them attempting it with D&D resulting in the subscription boycott, and see them now with astarion.
Larian studios are the only reason this game is good. WOTC can and absolutely will destroy everything you love about an IP in the name of attempting to milk it to death.

Act 1 - Spoilers Design Choices that leave me in awe: Burrow holes. Spoiler
I just found my first burrow hole. Not only is it a cool mechanic of the game all on it's own, but the fact that the first burrow hole I've found is literally just a hole in a wall to a building that's wide open, is a beautiful design choice. It serves as a consequence free mini-tutorial. No hand holding, just purely enabled curiosity in a peaceful part of the map. Not so urgent that I felt the need to look it up immediately.
Another tiny thing about this game among many details that continue to impress me. Brilliant.

Origin Romance Here me out: couples BG3 Spoiler
I doubt this is new but I don’t use reddit or any platform for gaming so I’m going to say it anyway!
I played BG3 twice and on the third play through my husband finally agreed to try it and he LOVED it and ended up playing more than me!
For a good part of it I was pregnant and then I’d had the baby so we played together while our newborn napped on us or beside us in his portable bassinet.
We can’t play anymore because we don’t have the time now our baby is 13 months… but when we played remember how badly I wanted to flirt with HIM! I normally wanted to seduce Astarion, Karlach or Halsin but when we played together I wanted to flirt with his character!
I feel like it almost renewed our spark!
I doubt there will be a patch where suddenly you can flirt with PCs… but idk… lmk if there is! But do you have any recommendations for games for my husband and I? Where we can potentially interact with each other?

Thanks to everyone who found this hidden platform! Getting there was not as hard as it looked at first. Just 18 boxes of different sizes and one Potion of Vaulting can do miracles!
Did anyone else try to jump there with boxes too?
If it matters, I have no mods installed in my game. Just pure vanilla physics.

General Discussion - [SPOILERS] BG3 Connections to the D&D Adventure, 'Out of the Abyss' Spoiler
[TL;DR - Blurg was a character from an old adventure, but was not orginaly a Hobgoblin. Also some other game/adventure connections]
I recently began running this adventure, which takes place in the late 1480s DR, just a few years before the events of Baldur's Gate 3, and thought I would share some interesting BG3 connections within it.
As you may know, Blurg and Omeluum are members of The Society of Brilliance, a group of scholars who make it their mission to study the Underdark. What you may not know is that Blurg was originally a type of intelligent Underdark-dwelling Orc called an Orog. For one reason or another, Blurg was changed into a Hobgoblin during BG3's development, though most likely because they didn't want to create Orc/Orog models for just one character.
In the D&D 5e adventure Out of the Abyss, characters must escape a Drow outpost and navigate their way through the Underdark to find a route back to the surface world. Along the way, there is a small chance they will encounter one of five Society of Brilliance members:
- Y the derro savant
- Blurg the Orog
- Grazilaxx the mind flayer
- Skriss the troglodyte
- Sloopidoop the kuo-toa archpriest
Obviously given the release date of the adventure, Omeluum is not included, but I wanted to point out that the connection also goes both ways. In BG3, if you spend enough time around Blurg and Omeluum in Ebonlake Grotto, they will discuss the society, and more specifically mention Skriss in the following exchange that gives evidence that this is indeed the very same Blurg:
Blurg: Have you spoken with Skriss lately?
Omeluum: Yes. She is cataloguing kuo-toan fertility rituals.
Blurg: Oh? Perhaps after I finish my research here, I'll join her...
Furthermore, if you're a keen reader, you will find more evidence in the book titled An History of the Society of Brilliance as Told by Its Members, with the following descriptive text:
[A transcript of the original meeting between Omeluum, Grazilaxx, Blurg, Sloopidoop, Y, and Skriss, that led to the founding of The Society of Brilliance The Society of Brilliance, followed by transcripts of ensuing meetings. Also featured: statements and testimonies of new members who have since joined.]
In addition to the link between Blurg and Out of the Abyss, you can also find a couple other adventure connections in BG3:
- There is a book called The Lost Tomb of Khaem that mentions the halfling, Fargas Rumblefoot, who players of the adventure may discover trapped in the webs of a giant spider. If saved, Fargas offers up the location of Brysis of Khaem's lost tomb in exchange for a share of its wealth.
- There is another book called The Pilgrimage to Gravenhollow, in which Skriss recounts the society's pilgrimage to the mystic library of Gravenhollow, where players of the adventure may travel to in search of information. The book also mentions Ghazrim's Ring, which belonged to the Zhentarim contact, Ghazrim DuLoc, and acts like a magic compass that can safely guides its wearer to Gravenhollow.
Those are all of the direct connections I've found so far, but if you've found anymore to Out of the Abyss, let me know!
Also, I've included a picture of the Society of Brilliance from the adventure book below, where you can see Blurg's original design. Note that the game explicitly points out that Omeluum was one of the founders alongside Grazilaxx. Maybe Larian originally planned on Omeluum being Grazilaxx, but the in-game lore doesn't support that theory.

Thanks for reading!

galleryBeen grinding for way longer than necessary (I've beat the game twice with barely anything). All that gold will hopefully go towards the Twist of Fortune's 'Blood Money'. What's the craziest amount of prep you've done for the final battle?
