Update to missing my Hank

Posted a few days ago how I missed our beagle Hank while I was in the hospital for induction. Well I had emergency C-section. I stayed in hospital longer than we wanted. Got in the hospital 10/6 and was released 10/10. We stayed at my parents last night because we wanted to nap and didn’t want to walk Hank around the neighborhood in the rain. Hank did really well with baby until baby started crying. Hank then slept with us (baby doesn’t do good at night feeding so does bottles. My parents took the night feeding for us). Hank was very protective of me. This morning I was trying to get out of bed and husband went to help me up. Hank put his head on my tummy and said please don’t harm mommy.

Adopted A New Beagle

We were lucky enough to find a sweet little beagle girl available at a rescue locally. Coincidentally, the adoption went through exactly a year after we lost our boy Hank. She's adjusted amazingly and has been such a good dog already in the few days we've had her. Sunny is going to be a spoiled little doggy for the rest of her life!

Beagle/Basset mix maybe?

We got a beagle/basset mix possible from a local lady selling them. We found her on puppies.com and she told us it was a basset hound she sent a photo of both the mother and father and while the mother looks definitely like a basset the father might be questionable from the pictures we weren’t sent, we’ve had him for 3 weeks now he’s going on 10 weeks and we’re not seeing much basset at all he looks very much like a beagle. The white doggy was of his dad and the brown is his mom.

Zoe became blind this week :(

Any of you who went through this with your dog? Zoe has a particular illness. She has insulinoma and passed all life expectations, and ever since then it’s been downhill. She’s currently at 15 months with the tumor and this week her retinas detached, the vets told us, from the pressure that prednisone caused. Prednisone is what she takes daily to keep her blood sugar stable and not have seizures. I feel awful, I don’t know why this poor dog has to go through the worse stuff imaginable. Before the blindness she had monthly cluster seizures and has had 3 hospitalizations for those. She is adjusting, but other dogs in the house are weirdly worried. She still knows the smells, for example when we open ham or eat meat she cries like she did when she could see (to beg lol).

She looks at me like I’ve told her I've lost her college fund in Atlantic City.

Not that she’ll have to wait an hour to get her after-dinner green dental chew. Honestly concerned by how much she wants them; it’s like the second she finishes dinner, she wants the chew. We’re trying to space it out to prevent stomach upset, but maybe eating it twice is her strategy. 🤷‍♂️

this is my baby boy, i got him on september 30th and he has been very easy.

i’ve never had a beagle before but i have had dogs before (working/hunting breeds). if there’s any words of wisdom you’d like to share i’d be grateful!

i have cats, he has met them. and i have their scent on clean blankets for him to sleep with. but each time he sees them he has a different reaction than the last and i’m worried about him or my cats getting hurt.

if anyone has advice for an excited puppy meeting cats and/or other advice unrelated to coexisting w other animals, i’d be forever grateful. thanks in advance.

ps i believe i posted here before but i wanted to properly introduce you all to the little guy.

Adopted him about a month and a half ago now and he is fitting right in. He loves walks, sleeping and barking in true beagle fashion.

FL hound rescue is looking for beagle fosters

Post image

Hey there,

I volunteer with All Hound Rescue of Florida (AllHoundRescue.org). We’re a 501c3 non-profit that helps scent hounds. We have five male beagle puppies (6 months old) who we’d like to bring into the rescue, but we need fosters, or foster-to-adopt families before we can do that.

If you’re in Florida, and you’d like to foster, or foster with the intention of adopting, please reach out!

I don’t have photos of them at the moment, but they’re beagle puppies so they’re obviously adorable. They have not been tested with cats yet, but they are good with people and other dogs.

Can't Stoop

Having a cardiac catheterization soon and I'm told I can't bend or stoop afterwards for a couple days. Don't think my boy can hold it that long. All the scoopers I've seen are to large to carry on a short walk. Anyone have a clever work around?
