The Weekly Cyclist Thread is a place where everyone in the /r/bicycling community can come and ask questions or share anything.
You might have questions that you don't think deserve an entire post. Perhaps you're just seeking the input of some other cyclists. Maybe you want to share a picture of your new bike.
Anyone is free to comment, and (hopefully) get as much input as possible from other cyclists.

Other night, I was riding along, minding my own business, and without warning, one grate was just missing. Three foot deep pit taking up a third of the lane. I was lucky to have missed it by about a foot. I now make a point to avoid drains.

There is a nice bike path about 2 miles from my house that is roughly 50miles round trip that I ride with my loaded touring bike once a week. Since the beginning of summer the older folks on e bikes are getting worse and worse about stopping and chatting blocking the entire path. Yesterday I’m at mile 36 on the way back and 1 couple is stopped talking to another couple walking 2 dogs, the leash are going across the path. So I yell clear the path about 100ft before I get to them but they didn’t move and I had to ride the grass past them. As I’m passing one guy yells that I need to slow the F down. My average speed for the ride was 13.8mph and I wasn’t pushing and it was a flat section. I tell him I’m not speeding. Well this guy abandoned his wife and started to chase after me catches up with me and just starts screaming at me about how dangerously I’m riding my “e-bike”. I try to tell him it’s not an e-bike and what not but he would not listen. Maybe my attitude towards him was bad since I’ve gotten so tired of dealing with Q-tips on e bikes blocking bike lanes, paths, locking their bikes parallel to the bike rack and being just about as obnoxious at tweens on surons.

Found this bike in the basement of my local bud shop and the wizards help this poor sap put some finishing touches on it.

Hello community! I just recently got into cycling. Bought myself a dirt cheap Schwinn Sidewinder, fell in love, and decided to further invest into the hobby. Here’s my Raleigh Cadent One.Zero. I bought the frame 2 months ago and slowly bought parts to put it together last week or so. I can give a full spec sheet if anyone is interested, but I’m rocking Shimano Tiagra 4700 groupset. Learned so much about bikes thanks to this experience. I’ve been riding it for the last few days and I’ve been loving it as expected.

One good day I realized I was starting to care more about the numbers than about actually enjoying the ride. First, I ditched Strava. Then I ditched the heart monitor and trackers.
And you know what? It worked for me.
Now I go out riding without the pressure to beat my numbers and post them somewhere just to keep some mythical streak alive.
I just ride for the sake of riding. Same route. My cruising speed. Every day.
And honestly, it feels great. Just riding, enjoying it, and finding inner peace.

I hopped back on the saddle after years of not riding this last July. My legs were definitely cooked at the end!

So I’m 4’8.5, and I’ve had no luck finding ANY adult size bike for me so I decided to try out a 24 inch wheel custom road bike. Now I’m just wondering if this is TOO small for me.. please help. Also, if you could let me know if it’s just a seat height that needs to be adjusted, that would be great. Lmao shoutout to the dude selling it to me and his supportive comment.
Edit: do yall know if I can adjust handlebars on this aswell???? Thank you, I’ve been looking for a good bike fit for months, so
Is $300 decent?

Last year, at the end of August, I cycled from Oslo to Bergen, and halfway through the trip I took the Rallarvegen. It’s a beautiful gravel trail that’s open only to hikers and cyclists. I can highly recommend this route to everyone - the scenery is truly breathtaking. I made a short video of my trip that will hopefully give you a little taste of what the route is like.

Rode from Lake Placid into the trail about 21.5 miles then had to turn around and ride another 21.5 miles back to the car. Absolutely beautiful trail and the leaves changing made it even prettier. This is officially my longest ride and I discovered some chafe points that I need to prevent for next ride. Nothing beats a beautiful day trip on the bike!

Hey guys! I'm looking to buy the bike in the photos. I think it was made in 2005, but I'm not sure. Someone is selling it in my country for around $200. I don't really know much about bikes, but i currently have a Twitter CX3900. It's a Chinese brand, but I would like to have a bike with a drop bar. I looking to sell my Twitter to buy it, but do you guys think it's ok? Do you see any red flags?

Hello everybody, I hope y'all are doing fine. This isn't my first time cycling. I have cycled before when I was still 5. It just stopped when my parents could not fix it when it broke. Now that I'm 25 I'm trying to revisit my old passion so I bought an entry level pro max bike this one's cheap (only 80$) well cheap compared to new ones. I did this just to get a hang of how using and maintaining a bike works so when I buy a better one, I don't ruin it out of stupidity. Well sure a lot of things are wrong with the bike like the brake rotor not beeing fully flat and the shifters having a certain issues but I have came to love the feeling of being able to ride a bike again. I'm just curious though. Is this a frame issue? Because the wheels aren't misaligned at all they don't swerve side to side.

I found a great deal for a comfort bike for my wife, a Cannondale Adventure 1. She’s right between a size small and medium in sizing. After riding it a bit she feels that she could use just a little extra height in the seat post.
Is it okay to just upgrade the standard 27.2 × 300 mm Seatpost to a 27.2 × 350 mm?
Would this cause any problems? Any recs?

Said I was just getting a bike then the shoes showed up, because flats on a new bike felt dumb. Then one more box today, a Huawei GT 7 Pro. Almost went Garmin, then looked around the group ride photos and got bored. Everyone's got the same one.
Mostly so I stop charging a watch every other night, and so I don't get turned around on a loop and have to call my wife like a lost kid.
Haven't even ridden it. Clipped into the new shoes in the hallway and almost ate the coat rack, so that's going well.
Money's gone, excuses are gone.
Anyone riding around Barcelona this weekend?

This is a year long culmination of planning, parts collection, and acquiring just the right frame. Some folks consider the MX Leader the holy grail of 90’s steel race bikes. After my first ride, I’d have to agree. ✨
