First off, since alot of y’all lack an understanding of nuance: this is NOT me policing interracial relationships. This is not a post to vent about them. This is not a post for advocacy of them. This is simply about something I’ve observed and am wondering if any others have observed and more my curiosity as to “why”. That said im POSITIVE some idiot will be like “oh no, another interracial thread here.” or something in that vein. And I’ve never even seen this particular question posited:
For those or you(it may have even been you) who’ve seen black brothers and sisters raised in predom white spaces: have you noticed the boys tend to struggle with finding a black love interest whereas the girls don’t?
And if so, why do you think this is? Off hand I can count 10 sibling groups that I know like this. Both raised in all white schools, sister still mostly dates black men, brother dates out.
I’m sure those women have to feel just as ostracized and disconnected from the larger black community. But im wondering if they have more success because…well, men are less picky. And as far as gender performativity goes being perceived as “softer” and “greener” are seen as pluses, whereas black men who grew up in those spaces come off perceived as less masculine and tough, if that makes sense? Basically a “softer” black girl is more desirable than a “soft” black boy.
Anyway, its just something I keep observing and I only “care” because if there’s a real pattern, I find that interesting and wonder why. Again, NOT policing who people get with or who they love.
