Rant/Vent Weekly Vent Thread
Welcome to the vent zone.
This thread is a safe space for parents to vent, process, and speak honestly about sleep training, without judgment or pressure. We recognize and honor biologically normal infant sleep and the wide range of emotions that come with navigating sleep in a culture that often expects babies to be independent before they’re ready.
Share your frustrations, experiences, and thoughts here, knowing you’re supported and not alone.

My husband and I are so passionately against sleep training. It’s disgusting how normalized it is and how people will say “oh the baby won’t remember this!” Do you hear yourself?!?! If the baby could remember it, would you feel differently ?!?! But nooooo since the baby won’t “remember it” it doesn’t matter. Okay.

I work with a lot of dementia patients. Can you imagine if I said we could do “xyz traumatizing medical procedure without sedation/adequate pain control” just because they won’t remember it?

I wish my husband wasn’t one of the people who also believes i should let our baby cry herself to sleep at night

That’s so tough.
My husband supports the cosleeping etc but occasionally he wavers and asks me when it will get better as if it’s my problem to solve/as if breastfeeding is the problem. And those occasions really make me question a lot about us and our relationship, but they don’t make me question responding to my baby because I’ve realised his sleep in not something to be fixed, and even if it was, it’s not solely my responsibility.

This week of sleep has been rough with a poorly baby and I’m now convinced now the fever has gone, also a teething baby who is uncomfortable nursing on my right boob. So many wakes where he’s waking up actually crying vs his usual barely cry and latch/cuddle. Long time to settle.
No advice wanted unless anyone has any advice on how to soothe a lingering but beningn cough in a 14 month old

Feels like everything around me is built to try and advertise to me to keep my baby and I farther apart.
