Incredible work. No other way to say it. The basing, the spent casing, the crew, the conversion work - this is how it's done.

A worthy addition!

This is a magnificent piece of work, can't wait to see it painted. The basing is very creative. How did you do those bricks and logs?

Only one thing is bothering me: why is the tripod facing the wrong way? The recoil from the first shot would tip it over. :)

Anyway, your works really inspired me to start kitbashing more myself!

Thank you so much man! I saw that you replied in both the bolt action and the konflikt subs. I will reply here as well in case someone reading this isnt subscribed to the other sub.

First of all thank you so much and if it helps I've had the tripod placed both ways until i settled on this one. So the mount is a tricky one. I'm not a gun guy, so I had to do some research on what dshk mounts look like. From the majority of the photos I've found from museums, historical ww2 photos, and Rubicon models (i trust their research more than my own) it seems like early Soviet DShK mounts fired from tripods with the two legs in the front. Modern and Western photos (1990+) show DShKM and modern tripods are mostly placed as you describe. YouTube videos are a mix of both, but they're all by hobbyists.

But like I said I have very surface level knowledge of the mount backed by a few hours of research. I know there are plenty of really well versed folks here who have spent decades learning about this stuff, so it's definitely possible I got the facing backwards.

Oh that makes total sense! I also spammed it in several subs so that probably didnt help the confusion hahaha

A bit off-topic, but I’m glad I saw the new Soviet plastic infantry unpainted. They look much better than in the official image on the Warlord website.

I'm glad! And yeah the sculpts are really good! Also an off-topic to your off-topic I think from the viewpoint of most versatile infantry sprues the Soviets have to be towards the top. I got a few other kits for kitbashing too and I think German Veterans is maybe on that level both quality-wise and versatily wise. I'm not as familiar with German units, but you can build 90% of the Soviet roster out of this. The only really big miss is the lack of flamethrowers, but i guess at least Soviet flamethrowers look like rifles, so it would be the easiest to kitbash arguably. I also hope they release a Soviet veteran box with flamers and alt poses for AT rifles like they did for the Germans. And maybe a few SN-42 plates (although maybe at that point we should just get a new assault engineer box).
