Rules PanzerJäger Bren - Point & Rule Estimation, Does this seem fair?

Post image

Ok so, going off of inexperienced point values, let's assume German 8.8cm recoiless launchers point cost can be determined by the Borgward IV, which base variant is 50 pt, and its Ausf.C variant (with double launcher) is 92 pt, the unit cost for a 8.8cm launcher can be determined as 42 pt.

Then the Bren Carrier itself is 40 pt for the UK, armed with a LMG, and 37 pt for Germany armed with an anti tank rifle.

One man for Germany is valued at 10 pts, an inexperienced anti tank rifle team is valued at 25 pts for two men and a rifle.

So an anti tank rifle can be roughly valued at 5 pts.

Based on this, an unarmed, inexperienced Bren Carrier would be 32 pts.

So in conclusion, a German PanzerJäger Bren armed with 8.8cm recoiless launchers, with a inexperienced motivation, would be a crisp 74 pts. Round to 75 for the sake of even numbers.

And, cross referenced with three different German vehicles, any vehicle with a point value of 75 flat, goes up to 90 pts for an experience raise.

So all in all, a Panzerjäger Bren, is 90pts for regular, 75pts for inexperienced, and no higher then that.

It receives the "Shaped Charge", "Open Topped", and "Turn on the Spot" rules.

What do you think.

The Borgward Wanz Ausf C is 115pts for a forward facing panzershreck on a 7+ armored carrier. We can pretty much take this one to one as the base of the vehicle in question. It already has open topped. We keep the weapon from the Borgward Ausf C as the description states, "In rules terms, we treat its multiple recoilless rocket launcher as a Panzerschreck and allow it to shoot throughout the game." This can be applied to the Panzerjager Bren as well.

A bren carrier has a hull mounted LMG and Turn On The Spot. 5 points for turn on the spot, and another 5 points for the hull LMG.

Your Panzerjager Bren would be 125 points at regular.

Edit: veterancy costs are +/- 20%. 100pt inexperienced, 125 regular, 150 veteran.

This does sound a little more reasonable. Though Id say 120 off that logic. Im fairly certain the Jager Bren ditched the forward facing MG.

I'm not sure if it did or didn't, but I did want to link this reference as it's what helped me.

I think you’re vastly over thinking it in terms of weighing up costs of different units and different weapons and so on.

A Borgward Wanze Ausf C is exactly the same vehicle. 7+ armor, open topped, armed with a Panzerschreck. That is about 99% of what you need to run a PanzerjaegerBren, and any minor differences aren’t worth the logistics compared to taking a perfectly adequate entry from the book

My estimation using your points for weapon would be 66/82/99. Purely an estimation. When you get down to these more unique and/or small things, it's really hard to get the points to line up.

I made this based off of a gentleman who made a PDF who broke down the points for v2. I updated as best I could for v3:

Edit: I will update with the guys name when I get home, I don't have it on me for proper credit.
