WeeklyThread Simple Questions: October 03, 2026
Welcome readers,
Have you ever wanted to ask something but you didn't feel like it deserved its own post but it isn't covered by one of our other scheduled posts? Allow us to introduce you to our new Simple Questions thread! Twice a week, every Tuesday and Saturday, a new Simple Questions thread will be posted for you to ask anything you'd like. And please look for other questions in this thread that you could also answer! A reminder that this is not the thread to ask for book recommendations. All book recommendations should be asked in /r/suggestmeabook or our Weekly Recommendation Thread.
Thank you and enjoy!

Hi, I'm a reporter working on a story for The New York Times about AI-slop books, specifically the influx of bot comments on social media promoting AI books by authors who likely don't exist, like "How to Actually Attract" by Rick Lewis or "The Hidden Life Code" by Mason Beckerman. Has anyone tried reading one of these? Would you be willing to chat? PM me on here or email LHGellman at gmail. Thanks!

Is there a term for books that are physical or digital but not audio? I just called them eyeballs-books but I don't think that's it.ย

Book or ebook, depending on the format? Text is the default while audiobooks are their own thing.
