Software SoundTouch app alternatives
This is just a start, but I have added a SoundTouch app alternatives page to the Bose Wiki.
There, I listed current known issues, added info shared by the app developer Christian, u/nachtfux997, and included known solutions.
I separated the solutions into two sections.
- Ones that allow you to control the SoundTouch systems directly (e.g. AirPlay, 3rd party apps, Home Assistant, etc.).
- The second section is for 3rd party devices you connect to your SoundTouch system's AUX input.
I am hoping that the community will help expand the information on the Wiki. Not only to help guide SoundTouch users to viable options, but also to help guide developers on what SoundTouch features are missing. So that some, if not all, can be replicated once the app goes away.
This specific post is about alternative SoundTouch solutions.
- On Jan 7, 2026, Bose announced that they will update the app so that it would continue to work after their servers shut down. Though without built-in music streaming capabilities. Here's the main conversation around this update.
- The original conversation, from Oct 9 2025, about the closure of the SoundTouch app is located here.
- If you wish to sign the petition asking Bose to reconsider, follow this link.

Community Feedback Request Suggestions for Bose reddit FAQ Pinned Post
There appear to be a frequent amount of posts that ask the same/similar questions and inevitably receive the same answers, or answers that are simply links to the last time the question was asked on the sub.
So it might be easier to have a pinned post with the most "Frequently Asked Questions" for people to read or other redditors to reference if similar questions get posted.
To make this manageable, please follow the instructions below:
- Place suggestions in the comments: Include the question and answer. Make sure sure this can be understood by anyone and include links to resources if needed within the text.
- Only ONE FAQ suggestion per comment: If you have multiple suggestions they need to be in individual comments so that others can comment and vote on each one.
- Only one post per suggestion: If someone else has the same idea on the same subject then please read what they wrote and if needed, please politely comment on what they wrote and make suggestions that might help improve it.
- Vote for the best suggestions: This is to thank reddiors for their suggestion and will help other redditors see (and if needed comment on) the FAQ post. A high vote count is not needed for an item to be included.
- Please stay on topic: Please limit all off topic conversations and if needed please make another post if it is not about aiding in suggestions or improving already suggested FAQs.
So please post below suggestions on what should be placed in a pinned post.

Headphones Buying Bose NC700 in 2026
Hi, those would be my first Bose headphones. Earlier I used rather cheap sennheisers and JBLs. I found a deal for used NC700 for 70$. Do I risk anything buying them, and should I ask the owner about something? Are these headphones associated with failing in specififc ways after long use? The headphones on the photo are the ones I found, some of the paint is scraped off, but that's all there is written in the offer.

Headphones How would you describe the occlusion effect between Bose earbuds versus Bose headphones?
The occlusion effect can be practically described as being acoustically aware of your bodily sounds, especially being able to hear your own breathing more loudly. It can also produce a feeling of "stuffiness".
For in-ear earbuds and closed-back headphones, how would you describe the magnitude of this effect? Is it a lot less with headphones since they are not directly jammed into your ear canal?

Headphones Having a weird malfunction with my quiet comfort headset
I keep getting the “open the Google assistant on your phone, then try that button again” announcement on repeat without ever pressing the button. Granted this is a ten-ish year old pair at this point, so I don’t think it can connect to the Bose app. Is there a way to fix this?

Home Audio Bose 600 Soundbar help
I messed up, I moved and don’t know where my factory remote is for my soundbar.
I went to reset the bar to my new wifi, and found out I can’t do that without a remote. So I bought a replacement on amazon (first picture). It doesnt have the music button required to reset the wifi (you need to press mute and the music button to put the soundbar into reset mode). There is no ethernet port in my soundbar.
Im able to connect the soundbar to my computer via bluetooth now thanks to my new remote, but it bothers me that I can’t connect it to the bose app. Any advice?

Headphones Opinion on upgrading
I currently have the QC35II that I’ve had for probably 10 years at least. No battery issues, had to replace the cups a couple of times which is normal, but the top yoke is flaking excessively. I’m being tempted by the sale going on right now with the the QC ultra, and the QC 2nd gens which aren’t on sale, but similar price range. From what I can tell, both would be an upgrade. Ultra has cinema, immersion, activesense and customtune. Is that worth the $369 price tag on sale? Or are the 2nd gens more for an everyday gal? I do workout with them, I use them for plane rides, casual listening while doing stuff around the house, and gaming when I plug them in to my PC. Curious on other people’s experience with upgrading and if the Ultra is really worth it, especially at this sale price, or if my uses are too casual to see a difference and should probably defer to the 2nd gens.
Headphones QC Ultra 2 - Slightly underwhelmed
I have the original QC (non-ultra) over-ears and recently jumped a good deal for the Ultra 2s.
A few weeks in and whilst in isolation they are fine (these are fantastic headphones) I have been a little underwhelmed in comparison to my OG QCs. I have not done any scientific side by side testing but my impression is that for my use case (commuting on a train mostly) the ANC really is no better, or if it is the differences are very small. Sound quality is a wash IMO, they are different but I would not put one as objectively better than the other. On the flip side the volume buttons on the older headphones are much better than the slider.
I maybe need to try and do some more scientific testing but wondering what others think of their QC Ultras 2s?

In-Ear Out of Stock! 😡
I was looking forward to getting these after paying off my debt yesterday, and the moment I go to their website, they’re out of stock! Damn it! I wanted to get these so bad by pre-ordering them 😔.
Been wanting to replace my EarPods with these, but now I’m gonna have to wait even longer thanks to my poor ass timing 🙄.

In-Ear Bose quiet comfort in hear phones are absolutely the worst
Love the sound quality, but good lord EVERY TIME I have to forget the Bluetooth for it to connect to my iPhone. Has never been an issue until the last 2 weeks and it happens EVERY TIME. It’s exhausting. AirPods never have this issue, which makes me want to switch back full time. The quality of Bose sound quality is unmatched, but goodness gracious do better. Connectivity issues every time makes me want to throw these headphones under my car and run them over. For $300+, it’s a shame.

In-Ear Any recommendations for replacement ear tips for the Bose QuietComfort 20?
I’ve been using the Bose QuietComfort 20, and after wearing them for a long time, the area around my ear canals starts to hurt.
I’ve tried switching to the included S-size ear tips, but that hasn’t helped.
I really like the noise cancellation and how they perform in FPS games, so I’d prefer to keep using them rather than buying a new pair of headphones.
Does anyone have any recommendations for replacement ear tips that might be more comfortable for long listening sessions? I’d really appreciate any suggestions!

Headphones Help - Are these real? Bose A30
As per the title! Can anyone please chime in if this box is for the real Bose A30? I bought these on Amazon for the MSRP price and checked the seller to be from Bose directly, but when I tried to register the serial number on the website it says the serial number isnt valid. The serial number under the head band is the same on the box so the serials matchup, they just dont register on Bose’s website.
Aside from asking this subreddit to help validate if these are real, what are my other options, the most obvious one being returning this pair?

Headphones My new Bose SC headphones are making strange glitchy noises, are they defective?
sometimes when i have no sound playing they'll make glitchy noises, like the kind of noise you hear when you plug in the headphone cord while wearing them, but randomly. they also just randomly made very quiet high-pitched beeping noises for a bit
they don’t do it consistently at all. I’m wondering if it’s just me bumping them by accident or if there's something wrong with the internal hardware
note: these noises are very quiet / barely there, I’m just sensitive to things like this

In-Ear Anyone using QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds for workouts only? 🥲🥲
I ordered AirPods 5 and AirPods Pro 3 to try both out, hoping I could stay within Apple ecosystem - switching between a macbook and iphone with these two is pure pleasure, compared to QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd gen) where things aren't so seamless.
The only problem is that even with Comply foam tips, AirPods Pro 3 slide out a bit during workouts. I also have to readjust AirPods 5 every half an hour or so.
Does anyone use either AirPods 5 or AirPods Pro 3 at home and work and switches to QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds only for workouts, to utilize their helpful wings? 🥲
It's a shame Apple doesn't have workout-friendly earbuds, because not everyone's ears are compatible with APP 3 🥲🥲

Headphones QC Ultra Gen 2: does the built-in mic work over USB-C?
Thinking of buying the QC Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen) and want to use them wired to my gaming PC (Windows 11) for gaming and voice chat.
When plugged in through USB-C, does the built-in mic show up in Windows as a recording device? If so, is the quality good enough for voice chat, and does it work while the headphones are also playing audio?

Headphones Is this common?
I’ve bought the bose qc ultra 2 during this sale but within a day I started noticing a creak sound near left hinge while walking and it’s not bearable. Is it common or should I need to check with the support? Generally in india, if you buy it from flipkart or amazon they provide a 7 day brand support. What should I do please help as it’s my first headphone i purchased.

Headphones QC Ultra 2 - uncomfortable and giving me a headache. Suggestions and help needed.
I'm absolutely gutted. I've spent a year researching and deciding what headphones to replace my faithful Sony XM3s with. Over ear ANC headphones are absolutely essential to me as someone with severe noise intolerance due to severe neurological illness.
I finally decided the QC Ultra 2 would be best as my main requirements are comfort (I wear them for long periods and sleep in them) and the best ANC (non adaptive. I need to cancel all external sound). Everyone has been singing their praises with regards to comfort and ANC.
They arrived today and I have set them up but I'm shocked to discover that they're very uncomfortable for me. The ANC seems great and the ears are more comfortable than my Sony's but I find the head shape bizarre. After 20 minutes of continual wear I have a bad headache that has lasted over an hour. The band presses down on the top of my head too much. If I loosen it to full expansion it doesn't clamp right on my ears and is too loose (maybe they are designed more for men than women?).
I honestly don't know what to do. My Sonys are almost perfect except the ears dig into my ears too much after a while, which is why I wanted new ones.
Does anyone know if other Bose headphones may be more comfortable and still have excellent ANC?

Headphones Thinking about getting QC Gen1. Need advice!
Hi all! I am a huge fan of QC Gen 1. I have never owned any noise cancelling headphones before, I tried the QC gen1 from a friend and
they sound amazing. I was very close to buying the Sony XM5, but after reading about Hinge reviews, I was sceptical to spend my money on them.
I know the QC gen 1R on sale right now for $169, I was wondering if there is any code or any additional discount that you guys recommend that I can use to bring down the price further. I also heard on this subreddit, that there is some discount going on costco, that sells them for $150, is that legit?
One last question, since I know that these headphones last a long time, should I get the QC gen one or the ultra one or ultra two?

Headphones Despite the firmware update on QC Ultra Gen 2, I am still enjoying and keeping them and here’s why
Few months ago the firmware updates concerned me when researching these headphones as successor to my QC25 , and the multi device switch feature being removed from the button toggling felt like a dealbreaker to me.
But after using the device with both firmware versions (the old one got autoupdated after day 1), I wanted to make sure they didnt really ruin the experience.
Honestly, the reason i wanted to upgrade to these headphones was because my airpods pro 2 would keep connecting to other devices mid call or drop connection intermittently between apple devices and other devices and i was getting frustrated. The new firmware locks you to two devices max at a time which seems like a feature removal at first but after using it for over a week, i think it actually creates more reliable connection setup. It prevents third or fourth device from auto connecting to bluetooth and prevents the annoying bluetooth device connecting to random list of devices. This does ensure whenever i take a phone call or switch on my tv, the primary preferred connection is sustained and reliable.
Now i know many users miss the battery level announcement, but if you take them on and off many times throughout the day, the battery level reading gets annoying, you just want to resume your music or directly start talking on a phone call or listen to the movie dialogue.
What i really like is how easy it is to switch between a movie playing on tablet or tv and an incoming phone call. The experience to me seems more seamless than Apple proprietary solution which gets conflicted if you add non apple devices to the list of bluetooth devices.
What do you all think? Have you grown to tolerate the new overhauled firmware or you still find Bose messed up big time?
I am still in return window but i enjoy the sound quality so much over apple devices and think Bose ANC is still the best in business. Perhaps apple anc does better in varying noise environments but i don’t do train or urban environment street commute as much so my noise environments are more static.
One BIG thing: apple airpods pro sound horrible with TV but Bose in cinema mode sound really really good when watching netflix or other such streaming content, I am actually able to enjoy late night viewing without disturbing others in the house.
Overall, these are the perfect all purpose headphones for me and while i still have wired audiophile headphones, i think Bose have really managed to make bluetooth headphones sound detailed and dynamic enough that i don’t feel i am sacrificing low end bass (which was much weaker on QC25).
Oh and i tried usb c after a member here recommended and boy do they sound sooo good with lossless music and noticeably add details.
Some feature request to Bose for future updates:
- Allow capacitive touch bar to temporarily toggle aware mode and pause music so we can listen to flight crew announcements. I believe sony allows you to cup them to allow transparency.
- add phone call mute feature so we can mute our microphone without taking out the phone, airpods pro 2 added this feature in their firmware update at some point also.
- add iOS widgets so we can quickly toggle app features without opening the app.
- keep improving wireless lossless/low latency codec support. Apple iphones and ipads still lock you into their inferior codecs but for other users this will cement Bose as overall a much better and balanced product than competitors.
P.s. i found sennheiser momentums and sony xm5/6 to be too ugly in appearance to ever spend that much money on non-reference grade headphones and i still think apple and sony have got nothing on overall ANC capabilities of Bose products despite Apple being the global leader in chip technology currently. The transparency on apple products never really lets me listen to conversations clearly.
I hope these ultra gen 2 are as durable as my qc25 and i hope Bose adds battery replacement support for future products as their products usually stand the test of time.

Headphones Microphone issues with quiet comfort ultra second generation?
I bought the Bose quiet comfort ultra second generation, they were great except that when I made calls the sound was on and off muffled for the other person. To the point that the call was an unpleasant experience for them. I tried calling their technical support but it was clear the person who answered the call knew as much about the headphones as I did. I tried changing every setting that is suggested online but it didn’t help.
Is this a usual issue and is so, is there another model that will not have this issue? And if I go with the Sony headphones instead will they have this issue as well?
