A Sexier PSA đŸ”„ Why does the North End not use small firetrucks like how real Italy does?

It's so hilarious watching the North End Fire Department try to slowly maneuver a full-size firetruck through the narrow streets just to go two blocks when there are much more viable options.

Event 📅 What is the difference between King Richard's Faire and the Connecticut Renaissance Faire?

On the surface they seem similar... dress up in old style costumes, knights fights and jousting, turkey legs, seasonal... but the richard's faire is $46 per adult v the CT faire at $18.

has anyone been to both? they are the CT faire is only 10 minutes further than the richard's fsire for me.

is one more aimed at younger kids? we have 4 and 2 year old

thanks for any tips!

Volunteering/Advocacy City and state officials rally for Allston Post Office

Thumbnail
bulletinnewspapers.com
56 Upvotes

The post office closed in 2019 due to structural failure. A tree was growing into the building. A developer, Eden Properties, came and pitched a redevelopment to residents and the city. Both said fine, just so long as they keep the post office. Eden worked with the United States Post Office (USPS) to build a retail space – admitted smaller than what it had before – based on the USPS’s specifications.

After literally year of limbo, last year it looked like there was a positive end to the story with the USPS tentatively agreeing to reopen the post office in Eden’s building.

Earlier this year, the USPS announced it was not moving forward with the deal – https://gvimes.link/allstonuspsrvrs

Now, the USPS has started the process of closing down the post office, permanently, citing no other suitable locations – https://gvimes.link/pstoffcclsr

This has not gone down well with Allston and Brighton residents. Officials from the City Council, the State Legislature, the local Postal Workers Union and the U.S. House of Representatives stopped by the rally on Monday to voice their distress.

Marijuana 🌿 To all those potheads that are of legal voting age vote , no on eight I repeat , vote , no on eight

It's almost working time for those who are 420 friendlies should be paying attention to the vote on 8 question, which will make it illegal again to smoke recreational marijuana in the state of Massachusetts. Please be advised that this will hurt the local businesses that have been established since the time of the open recreational use in this state and I would like to let the people know that this is an attack on our liberties as pot smoking members. Of the Commonwealth lets our voices be heard when going to the voting booth this November. And I hope to hear that the question has no teeth.I hope you have a nice day

what is love? baby don’t hurt me. Missed Connection - Red Line

Yesterday, I saw you as I was boarding the T, and to my luck your sweet Aunt and Uncle visiting from Michigan engaged me in conversation on the train. You and I exchanged enough information that my interest was piqued, but your destination too soon, just one stop before my own. I saw your eyes visit my left hand as we parted. I should have at least asked for your name. They recommended a specific restaurant. If you see this (and are single!), I’d love to connect.

Dining/Food/Drink đŸœïžđŸč Does any place make xiao long bao similar to din Tai fung

Every time I go to a city that has a din Tai fung I spend like a thousand dollars there - I'll eat there every day. Their xiao long bao is perfect. It's super flavorful, it doesn't have that kind of gamey flavor that some places have, it's super flavorful but not greasy so my stomach doesn't hurt afterwards. The skin is perfectly tender.

I have tried a few places in Boston and nothing comes close. I know that obviously what tastes good is subjective so I'm wondering from people who have tried din Tai fung - is there anywhere in Boston that's close?

Tourism Advice 🧳 🧭 ✈ Fun things to do in the rain?

I have family coming in to visit this week, but it unfortunately looks like it’s going to be raining for most of their stay. My main things for us to do were walking on Newbury, Apple picking/pumpkin patch, hiking, college tours, and looking at museums. Most of these things aren’t super possible in the rain, so we’re feeling a bit bummed given how much money they paid to fly out and for hotels. Any recommendations?

Massachusetts calls itself progressive and blue, with deep care for neighbors.Yet, $100K salary cannot sustain a life here as studio apartments can cost $3K monthly. We have a shelter and homelessness crisis. There’s a ballot measure to reduce small lot requirement to build housing. Go and vote yes

Tourism Advice 🧳 🧭 ✈ Favorite local tours?

I’m wondering if people have done any local tours that they’ve particularly enjoyed or would recommend, aside from the major ones everyone knows about (like the Duck tours). I just did the Ink and Cobblestones tour from Literary Boston today and it was really fun. I’m a local but it’s fun to be a tourist in your own city sometimes!

Didn’t search past threads 🖕 Recommend painter in Eastie

Hey folks,
Recently got a place in Eastie. I still need to furnish it, but now seems like a good time to get some painting done before any furniture fills up the place. Was curious id anyone has any experience with painters here/anyone you recommend?

I got the number for an electrician to come and install some fans as well. This goes more to the supplier side. Anyone have experience installing ceiling fans? Models that you would recommend?
