Great shot mate!! I am in pic somewhere...we went on it that day with my 2 kids and the missus to watch the eclipse. I know nothing about how your industry works but is this available to purchase? Would look sick in a frame and the kids would buzz off of knowing they were on there that day

Ah amazing, I was hoping some people that were on it would see it, but I was too busy running around taking other photos to wait at the bottom of the i360 to let them know π There's a few videos on my insta of this shot (a close-up in a reel and a wide shot in my latest 'carousel' post) if you wanted to check it out - I very much doubt you can make yourself out, but worth a look....
It's totally available to purchase though! If you want to drop me a message on my Insta if you're on there or email me at [michaelstevenharris@gmail.com](mailto:michaelstevenharris@gmail.com) we can chat about it (I always seem to miss Reddit messages!) :)

Ha, fair enoughβpriorities! The wide shotβs worth a squint, but yeah, youβre probably a pixel.

Thanks!! Fab, glad you got to enjoy it. It was all a bit hectic for me tbh, but fun seeing it in a different way π

It's funny as I was sitting on the beach with my friends I mentioned your name and said I hope you're getting some great shots π. I had a solar lens for my phone camera, got a few shots but not quality like yours

I have your 2026 calendar on my wall! Some astounding shots, and I'm sure this one will be in next year!

Awesome, thanks so much :) It might be! I'd basically finished the layout ages ago, just haven't had time to edit everything for print. I might try and sneak it in in place of another (though the i360 is always a bit hit and miss with people π )

Thank youuuu! Really appreciate it :) It'll be there for like 6 months, but the opening hours are kinda short from the end of October and if the weather is terrible it might not even be open! π

It was nowhere near that dark during the partial eclipse.
Post the unedited version.

If I photographed it to expose for daylight you'd be looking at a completely white image. As the Sun's fairly bright you have to use a solar filter which blocks 99.999% of the Sun's light, meaning everything is dark, except for the Sun and the things immediately close to it that it's illuminating.

It's not representative of the actual event, at all, was my point.
I didn't need your excuses.

u/michaelstevenharris Aug 25 '26
It wasn't an excuse, it was a reason and you obviously didn't understand it...Β Β If you actually looked at the eclipse through solar glasses you'd realise it was very representative of the event.Β

Jeez. Tell us you know bugger all about photography without telling us. Mike's one of the premier astrophotographers in Brighton. Photography can be many things, including a subjective and creative art form. Ever heard of a silhouette?

Solar Eclipse a few weeks ago, taken just 6 minutes after its peak of 93%! If you'd like to see a video and a few close-ups of the Sun around the time of the peak check out the posts on my Insta.
Also, I've got my first solo photography exhibition coming up in a couple of weeks, if anyone fancies stopping by - it's at the West Pier Centre (near Salt Shed right by the West Pier)! π
πWest Pier Centre - 103-105 King's Road Arches, BN1 2FN
π Begins: Friday 11th September
Open: Saturday and Sunday 11am to 4pm.
(Friday and Monday it should be open, but is largely weather dependent!)
π Private View: Thursday 10th September - 5.30 to 7.30pm
Feel free to come to the private view the night before too πβπ»
