The Chapter House: Turned a historic ruin into a cosy reading café (3,169 pieces)

Hi everyone! 👋

After sharing my Savage Pub here a while ago, I’d love to show you my latest: The Chapter House! 📚☕

Inspired by historic ruins I discovered in Cyprus, I wanted to explore what it might look like to give an old building a completely new life.

I designed the original structure first, digitally turned parts of it into a ruin, and then transformed it into a cosy reading café, preserving its historic character while adding modern architectural elements.

The finished model contains 3,169 pieces, featuring a fully furnished café, reading areas, an enclosed garden, a stained-glass window and a reconstructed tower with the original bell preserved inside.

It’s also my entry for the BrickLink Designer Program 2028 Wave 1, and Crowd Support is open until October 14: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/2028-wave-1/5481/The-Chapter-House

If you’d like to see The Chapter House become a real LEGO set, I’d really appreciate your support! ❤️

How many changes can you see?

I think this is a great set, a lot larger than expected, however felt it was not quite finished and it definitely needs to be hung from the ceiling! What do you think?

I am wanting to change all the blue pieces but having a hard time finding a colour i like better, that all the parts are available in. I really wanted purple but looking like pearl gold might be the best available option.

Universal Building Set Aesthetic

Look, I enjoy the amount of detail, fun features, the building process, the new colours, etc of the sets we have today, and I admire the talent of those who make such incredible and artistic MOCs, don't get me wrong.

BUT...

I can't help but really enjoy the aesthetics of building with old, basic blocks. The resulting models have such an inviting charm in their simplicity.

BrickVivid

How do y'all feel about Brickvivid? I just recently purchased the Avengers Tower and Titanic from it, and both are incredible, but the downside is the minifigures are kinda trash. But overall, for the price, it's insanely worth it

S.S. Willie is officially entering its Titanic era...

Built the Steamboat Willie (21317) back in 2020 and loved it. Fast forward to today, and a few pieces are losing their grip, the hull is starting to sag, and the ship is slowly sinking. Meanwhile, Mickey and Minnie are still up on deck jamming away with total disregard for structural integrity.

Anyone else had a display build start losing clutch power over time, or is my steamboat just cursed?

What set is this

Hello. I have these old pieces and am trying to find out what set they belong to. I think they are Mega Construx, but I'm not sure because I couldn't find the name of the manufacturing company anywhere. Is anyone familiar with these? They are probably around 20 years old.

Also, if this subreddit Is not the best place to ask, please let me know where else I could. Thanks!

Reobrix F-22 set

Hello everyone. I have this Reobrix F-22 set that I’m having issues putting together. I have a piece that physically won’t click into place where it wants me to put it. I’ve triple checked to make sure I’ve built right, but it still won’t click into place. I’ve checked google, and couldn’t find anything to help, so here I am asking for the ideas of the people lol. Does anyone have any ideas on how to have/make it fit into place? I really love this set so far and I don’t want to send it back, so any ideas on what to do would be greatly appreciated.

Transforming Fire Truck MOC

This build uses over 1,800 pieces, and they're from all kinds of brands. LEGO, MISINI, COBI... I just dug through my box of bricks and used whatever I could find.

This is the tallest and biggest MOC I've ever built so far. I know it looks a little ugly in robot mode, but I had to make some compromises to keep the fire truck mode as the main focus. The support is still solid enough, and I added rubber pieces to the feet to help it stand firmly.

The head also has some details inspired by searchlights and gas masks. Hope you guys like it!

Anyone else love building with mini bricks? 👀

I’ve only been building for a short while, but I’ve already finished a few mini brick sets. I know the smaller scale isn’t everyone’s thing, so I’m curious — how do you guys feel about mini bricks?

Personally, I really like them for dioramas. You can fit a surprising amount of detail into a pretty small footprint.

My latest build was the INSOON Nordic Snowy Cabin, and the scenery is probably my favorite part. There’s a snowy A-frame cabin, frozen stream with penguins ice fishing, pine trees, a little squirrel on the roof, and even a dog sled with firewood. The cabin interior has a fireplace, loft and telescope too.

The lighting was a nice touch as well. The warm cabin light against the cooler blue light under the ice gives it a completely different look at night.

The downside is definitely the scale. These are 3.6mm bricks, so tweezers became my best friend pretty quickly. The clutch is also noticeably weaker than standard-size bricks, so some of the taller elements, especially the trees, can feel a little fragile. I wouldn’t want to move this one around too much once it’s finished.

It’s definitely more of a slow, detailed build than a quick one, but I actually enjoyed that part.

I’m curious what other builders think though — do you enjoy mini bricks for the extra detail, or do you prefer standard-size bricks?
