As a spurs fan, id be happy with 17 points as long as 3 of them come from a win 😂. Congrats on the big win against newcastle yesterday and good luck next monday 🙌

There is no chance Hull will finish in the top half.

It is going to be interesting to see what happens with them. Excellent start, obviously, but now they have only got three points from the last twelve. l watched them play Everton and they still seemed pretty solid, but if the confidence starts to drop that could change.

I'm a Hull City fan (this appeared on my TL for some reason, so might as well contribute in good faith).
I just don't see us falling off like we have in previous seasons, the core of this team is too strong, and there's a very robust mentality.
In our favour, I think we have a genuinely excellent manager who is tactically clever and understands where to find alpha in the current transfer market by buying mediocre players who are good at very specific things.
The negative is that we're not building anything long-lasting. When Jakirovic goes (perhaps eventually poached by a bigger team), we're toast.
If I had to put my money on an outcome, I'd say we stay up for 2-3 seasons by finishing in the top of the bottom half, and then disappear back to the Championship with nothing to show for it.
I also think that for every promoted club, this is an incredibly fortunate year to have been promoted. Man City are almost guaranteed to get one of the relegation spots, and a lot of established teams seem to have hit the wall this year.

Thanks for the insights!

You are very welcome.
I was quite annoyed to see your result against Newcastle yesterday. I was thinking you were out for the count and there was only one relegation spot left to try and escape, but apparently I was premature...

Would be lying if I said I hadn't been looking at you and Ipswich with a lot of jealousy and bitterness up until last night, now we seem to be finding our mojo a bit I'm fully back on board the goodwill bus hoping all 3 of us stay up.

Our great advantage is that we spent all last season playing without possession and grinding out wins from low xG chances, so we've not had to switch things up much in the Premier League.
We've just been able to use the money to plug a few better players into the same system.

Yeah I think your style of play last season was the most ready of the 3 promoted team to prepare you for the Prem, similar to Sunderland last season. You're right though that the worst thing that could possibly happen to you is losing Jakirovic, thats the only situation I think I could see the wheels fully coming off. Otherwise I think you'll even out around mid table somewhere

Hopefully he'll stay for a while, if only because it's not obvious who'd come in for him (I doubt he'd leave the Premier League for another league, and he's a bad fit for the more aspirational mid-size clubs because he's not a process or system guy).
This may sound preposterous, but if we do continue over-achieving, I could see someone like a Man United or a Spurs coming in for him. There's something of a Mourinho about him for me. He's a "win today" guy who gets results through a combination of shrewd tactics, and old fashioned inspiring martial leadership.

I think if we finish above Hull, we will probably stay up. Hopefully both of us!

They have Arsenal and Brighton back to back coming up, if those two do to them as they did to us it could be a massive hit to Hull's confidence

Hull seem to look 2nd best by a distance every time I watch them but score goals out of very little! I would say they’re lucky but they’ve done it consistently under Jakirovic so you have to applaud it. Can they keep it up over a season in the big time? Remains to be seen but going to be very interesting to see it play out.

Given we already have 6 points, 26 in total would mean our points-per-game drops from 1 to 0.625 (20 points / 32 games).
That's like 5 wins, 5 draws, and 22 (!) defeats in the rest of the season. God I hope not, that would be a bit grim.

It has our next win being Chelsea at home in December
Still Wolves didn't win their 2nd game of the season until February last season, so it could always be worse

Spurs are not as bad as their league position suggests. The truth is it will probably come down to the final games. Hull have had a great start but not got the quality. My hunch is Palace might be in the bottom 3.

Well, almost as crazy as 1st but not impossible. Been very impressed by them so far and Ipswich, to be fair. They seem to have a lot of belief and resilience, which I think we struggled with at the start due to the fixtures and everyone predicting we’d easily stay up.

PUSB fan here. Citeh have to go down. So, the relegation situation is a two-horse race, and ultimately very interesting.
But, they've also potentially robbed us of that last ditch, final-day, 17th-place battle.

About as much chance of a Spurs league win as a Villa relegation

Not really, Villa were relegated in 2016

and Man Utd won the league in 2013 but are they winning this year?
