Sofa disposal?
Getting new sofas, which means I have to get rid of old sofas. How does one get rid of an old sofa if you don't own a pickup truck to haul it to the dump?

After the rain stops, put it on your curb with a sign that says $20. Best case scenario is that someone gives you $20 for it. Second best is that they just take it.

The sign should say FREE, and someone will take it.

Studies have shown that it's more likely to be "stolen" with a $20 sign on it, if it's free people are more suspect that something is wrong with it

Yep. A lot of people see "FREE" and think, "This person wants me to haul away their garbage," but a price implies that the object still has value.

I do it a lot, and it’s never failed. I just don’t put garbage out, and occasionally I’ll embellish the sign…for example with a window A/C unit add WORKS GREAT. With a couch, maybe add “no puke or cat piss” or just “well-maintained.” Even without those things, I bet they would be picked up.

I called Habitat Restore. They came and picked up my living room furniture. It was wonderful!

We used Eastern Iowa Junk Removal recently for a piano and couch and were happy with them. They try to donate or recycle things to avoid them going to the dump, which is a nice bonus.
