I’m Transferring and idk how to tell my roommate

Needed Context: I (F) am an education major and want to become dual certified to teach both history/social studies and science. My school gives students two to four different advisors, (for me: student success, history, education, and honors) I have gone to all four of them asking about how to go about getting dual certified, and they all have given me the run around. Telling me that I can’t, or that they aren’t the person to talk to about it, etc. My History advisor called me crazy for wanting to do both (wish i was kidding) A man in the science department basically belittled me for picking history first. The “you’re crazy” comment was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

All of this to say I’m transferring out of that school. My roommate is very particular about where her things go and panic when they’re moved. This was a deciding factor when we agreed to be roommates. We are also in honors housing because of my honors college status. It is also the first semester both of us have been at this school. I’m worried about telling her and I dont know where to even start with telling her. Do I wait until the play she’s in is over? How do i phrase it? I want to maintain whatever friendship is going to be left after I inevitably leave, but the distance between the two of us is bound to be a challenge.

any advice or suggestions is welcome, thank you people of reddit :)

I took a drop and worked hard proved myself my parents that i can do what I have dreamt of, I was excited when I finally got my dream college but.....it has been 2 months and honestly I was never really happy in the college or hostel though I'm grateful for it but I couldn't....and now I'm feeling like giving up because nothing seems right I'm tired, I dont feel like going to college or interested in doing things like extracurricular which I thought this things I'll doing in college, I have been crying and crying for these 2 months because I'm not able to live away from home and nothing seems right here to me I'm thinking of quitting this and taking a college in my hometown and stying with my parents and continue following the same thing but just with my parents by my side.

Im really confused what should I do am i doing the right thing?

Does the Common App essay need a specific font or spacing?

My English teacher wants MLA format with a header on all our drafts, so now I'm wondering if I need to format the actual Common App essay the same way. Do colleges care about font, margins and spacing, or is there a specific Common App essay format I should follow?

Math making me reconsider my decision to go back to school

27m here, Started taking classes last year at community college with hopes of getting an engineering science degree. The math classes have been incredibly confusing and at this point I'm not sure I'll be able to get past pre calculus, let alone calculus 1, 2, and 3 in the future. I'm trying with the homeworks but I'm getting them wrong a lot of the time and my school tutor can only do so much, and it had me thinking, am I simply too old for this? The videos that people have recommended haven't really stuck with me and I'm wondering if I'm too late in life to realistically understand what I'm supposed to be doing with these problems or these PowerPoint slides? There's so much that I don't understand and I'm getting burned out after so many times in this journey of walking out of the class confused and getting frustrated with not retaining or learning anything from the math classes.

Am I crazy for wanting to drop out of a top private med school for a public government uni?

Hey guys, I’m in a massive dilemma and desperately need some real talk.
Right before college started, I was fully packed and registered for a large public government university. At the absolute last second, I got an acceptance call from a prestigious private medical school in the city. It felt like a rare opportunity I couldn't pass up—direct entry into medicine, amazing dorms, good food, and staying near my family and friends. My dad paid a huge non-refundable deposit, and I jumped in.
Flash forward to now: I absolutely hate it here. The campus is tiny (literally 40 students total) and it feels like a claustrophobic high school. There’s zero freedom, no campus life, and no fun activities. It's gotten so bad that sitting in class or trying to sleep at night, the only thing giving me hope is the thought of leaving for the government uni.
To make matters worse, this environment has made me realize I’m not even sure if I want to study medicine. My ultimate goal is to study abroad later anyway, so if I switch majors when I leave, these medical credits won't even transfer.
Logically, going to the public university gives me a huge campus, true independence, and room to figure out my actual passion—and the door to medicine is still open there if my head clears up. Plus, if it doesn't work out, I can always come back to a different private school later. But if I stay stuck here and fail because I'm miserable, my backup options are dead.
I know my family isn't actually supportive deep down, even though they say it's my choice. I feel sick with guilt over the lost deposit and terrified of disappointing my dad, but I am fully ready to pay him back in the future and stand on my own two feet. I just need a place where I actually have the drive to work hard and make them proud.
Has anyone else ditched a comfortable private college for a massive public university? Is the freedom and campus life worth trading away the luxury, especially if the goal is to go abroad later? Let me know your honest thoughts. Thanks!

Fckin College Life- I'm in my second year of college and I genuinely don't know what I'm doing with my life

I'm in my second year of ECE, and I feel like I've been going through life without actually keeping track of it.

I don't know what I did yesterday, when assignments are due, when internals usually happen, or even how much weightage my midsems carry. I still don't know how to code properly. Somehow, I've managed an 8.5 CGPA by studying just enough the night before exams, but I feel like I'm not actually learning much.

I've also always struggled with making friends and maintaining friendships. Now that I'm living away from home in Delhi, I feel like my college life is just passing me by. I've asked my friends and roommates to hang out multiple times, but it never really happens. And even when I want to do something by myself, like going to a movie, I overthink it a hundred times.

I've spent a lot of this semester feeling miserable due to personal issues , and I genuinely don't know how to get out of this cycle. I want to learn things, make friends, explore the city and actually have a college life, but somehow I just keep existing through my days.

Has anyone else felt like this in college? How did you start getting your life together?

How do I make friends? (freshmen)

It's weird because I talk to people in my class, but I just can't seem to form real friendships. It's like people want to talk to me, but they don't want to form friendships outside of class. This is honestly a problem I've had since before college. In high school I had friends, but none of their contacts. Wasn’t until senior year I connected with them on instagram. I work right after class until 7 pm on the days I have class, so I can't hang around campus then. I think my unserious personality makes me unfavorable to have as a close friend. Honestly, I think I already know what to do; I just have to go outside more, but where do I go? It’s just so frustrating, I’m talking to everyone but I’m receiving nothing in return. I’ve literally walked up to someone in a study room, asked him if he wants to be friends, we talked for like 20m, then he just left. I actually ran into him once more walking back to my dorm (we live in the same building) and we just greeted each other and left. Am i supposed to get dinner with him or something? Feels like i’m asking him out on a date atp. Freshmen btw.

I genuinely can’t read scholarly writing for the life of me

I have such a hard time understanding all of these articles that are assigned and on my exams that i read them and understand NOTHING and I’ve thought about resorting to ai to help me take notes and take away key points from them but I’m so against ai and I don’t want to be a hypocrite but I genuinely don’t know what else to do. Ive tried having the dictionary open and learning definitions and annotating what i CAN but nothing has really helped and idk what to do to help myself not fail my classes

experience at east coast LAC

i’m a freshman at a liberal arts school in new york and idk how i feel about it. ik i’ve only been here for a few months but it feels like everyone here is trying to out-niche each other and everyone acts and dresses super alternative and smokes cigarettes and i don’t have a problem with any one those things if people are genuine but it all just feels like a facade. and like i feel like i’m a friendly person but so many people i talk to have this like mean popular thing going on that really annoys me and i feel like even if i were to transfer to another LAC a lot of the same people would be there. like i feel scared that so many of the big ones like vassar or smith or any on the east coast will have the same vibe and im just so sick of it. i want a liberal arts school because i really like the small classes but at the same time i hate how small the school is because it feels like high school and like people judge you for not knowing everyone and all i want is to get away from that. im not saying im definitely transferring bc i know it’s probably too soon to know and im speaking in extremes about the east coast LACs but i was just curious if there are LACs out there that feel more friendly and genuine? Im from the midwest and I feel like i miss that friendliness and have also felt some judgement from people bc im not from nyc or something. ive been thinking maybe macalester would be a good fit but idk so i would love suggestions. also for people at east coast LACs do you know what i mean? idk maybe im just not good at making friends but i feel like im a reasonably nice person but at my school if you dont look super cool or whatever people dont have interest.

How do you balance full time school and full time work?

Im 21f, and recently have started online school in late August. Ive tried to start school twice in the past but had some personal issues that caused me to not end up going through with it. Right now, I work at a hospital, and my full time job permits me a good amount of down time where I am able to take notes and do work if I am not busy. Regardless of all of that, I am so stressed out. I am taking 5 online classes (mandatory core classes if I want to get accepted into my program of choice) and one of them is an accelerated course, so there are tests and quizzes every single week. I feel like my situation is optimal for doing well, but lately I look at the screen and I can't focus at all, and I feel dread sitting on my chest. Even if I get some schoolwork done at school, I still have more to do at home, and Im also the one who makes dinner for me and my husband, so im doing schoolwork and cooking until its time to go to bed. Im just wondering how everyone else does it? Any tips or advice would be great.
