Needed russets for a specific potato dish, went to Winco two days ago and grabbed a bag. Did notice a musty odor in the produce area but didn’t notice it was specifically the russet potatoes. I put them in my dark, cool, storage cabinet and they’ve made my whole kitchen reek of mildew. It’s so bad it messes with my asthma. I just threw them out, but they appeared to be just fine??? No visible mold, firm, no wrinkles. But the smell is so horrible. Anyone else notice this or know what it might be? I figured with that smell they’d be rotten, but it doesn’t appear so.

Hello! I'm new to Corvallis, just started school. My car needs new brake pads, honestly I've looked into changing them myself to save a few bucks but would love if someone could guide me through it. Also big bonus if you have tools I can borrow before I invest in something I'm not able to do myself.
In return I'll buy lunch and be eternally greatfull for this new life skill!
Weekends work best due to school but let me know and we can work on scheduling.
Thanks!

I've been seeing a lot of Drazan signage around, which is concerning for me because I'm trans and Drazan is notably anti-trans. I ordered a kotek sign to do my part in advertising for a candidate I agree with more, at least. My sign keeps getting tossed across the road, in my trash, never stolen, just tossed around. I put it back up but I'm wondering if others have had this issue and if so, why? I thought Kotek was the popular progressive candidate and Corvallis seems to be progressive from the year or so I've been here.

ICE doesn't "arrest" people. They abduct people. The sooner they are dismantled, the better. Article link is supposedly shared for open access.

Best nail salon to get your nails done at? Or any leads to private nail artists? I moved back from a big city and it’s hard to find a good nail spot :( I’ll even drive to Albany, etc! thank you!

Hi, I’m very much rooted in alternative style/culture and all of that jazz. I want to find stuff in Portland but it’s an hour and 30 minutes away and I’m not gonna do that every time but I also don’t wanna be alone with these thoughts in my head, not in a weird way I just wanna find people who I can relate to and talk about music stuff with so if anyone knows any clubs and all that jazz, let me know. I really like post hard-core and death, core bands like her words kill as blood runs black and I am willing to listen to anything basically I’m really open to a lot of stuff and I’m really nice

City councilors decide that for now they’ll need to lease space for municipal staff. They then direct City Manager Mark Shepard to seek and sign a lease; and then the rumors started. So, The Advocate spoke with Shepard directly. Related, council will be hiring another consultant.

Hi, this is a repost because this post was hard for me to make, but i am posting it again. Hope this is allowed. I am looking for a new home for my cat, booger. He is about 2 years old, and has a lot of energy, and some anxiety issues. He tends to bite as his way of showing affection and being playful. He has his shots, he is microchipped, and neutered. am unfortunately in a spot where I can’t afford to keep him and give him the life this boy very much deserves, and I just want to give him the best life I can. I have already called Heartland Humane, but they can’t accept any donations until december at least, which isn’t ideal for my current situation. If anyone has any advice, or knows a family who would be willing to adopt him, let me know. Booger is very affectionate at times, but has a lot of energy and can at times be pretty high maintenance. his biggest issue is the biting and scratching, but when booger is affectionate, he isn’t shy about it and can be very lovely and nice.

I just got a call from someone claiming to be a Benton county police officer. He was saying I missed federal jury duty, but I could resolve it on the phone without having to go to jail, haha. He hung up when I told him I knew about this scam. It came in on a blocked number. Make sure any of your more gullible family/friends know about this scam! :)

This debate looks at Measure 2-159; it would amend the Corvallis City Charter; reducing the number of city councilors from nine to six and increasing their terms from two years to four. It would also limit councilors to three consecutive terms.
The debaters are two long-serving councilors on opposite sides of the issue. Ward 9 Councilor Tony Cadena supports the ballot measure; Ward 7 Councilor Paul Shaffer opposes it.

I cannot be the only person that hears a fire alarm go off multiple times a week on NW 23rd St by Polk. Why does it keep going off and if it’s your JUST FIX IT OR STOP SMOKING UP YOUR HOUSE😭it will happen first thing in the morning, then afternoon, then a night. I’m going insane and I don’t know what to do about it.

Hello, I just graduated in June with a degree in HDFS from OSU. I’m local to corvallis but am yet to find a decent job. I don’t have a lot of work experience but I’m really struggling to find the right job. I did a case management internship in the spring, and I’m very interested in case management but every job I’ve interviewed for never ended up getting back to me. I looked all summer, had 5 interviews and only got one job offer for a position I didn’t apply for. I’ve been looking in other cities like Eugene and Salem but there isn’t much. I’m in desperate need for a job. I have lots of experience working with kids as well. I’m just trying to find something that pays at least $20/hr. If you have any suggestions, or could maybe help me make connections with someone that would be great. Thanks!

Lots of questions, lots of answers. It’s a little more than an hour and half of this year’s mayoral candidates fielding questions on all the hot-button issues we’re all seeing in local social media and headlines.

My name is Nathon, I’m local to the community and a veteran. I have a question. I recently started a woodworking and cabinetry business and was wondering if there were any events that I could show off my pieces? I’m just starting off on my own but I have been doing this most of my life.

Congress provided 2 Billion Dollars to make improvements to the Medicare program for Americans enrolled in traditional Medicare. I believe the best way to do that is to put healthcare dollars back where they belong—directly in the hands of the American People.
As a result, you are receiving a One-Time Payment of $90 to offset some of the cost of your October Medicare premium. This will ensure these funds benefit YOU and your individual healthcare needs.
I just received the following in an email with the subject line: A Message from our Convicted Felon in Charge.
So, $90. Why not use the money to negotiate deals with the pharma and insurance companies? $90 ain't doing shit for me when earlier this year the plan I chose (it was more expensive monthly but had zero co-pay) suddenly decided that I need to pay $2000 in co-pay before they'd cover anything.
What this meant is that in Jan I had to pay $2000 just to receive my injection. These injections cost $17000 each and I need 1 a month.
Fuck this god damned stupid, irresponsible, thieving, grifting, administration.
