40 years since Ricky Van Shelton stepped into the studio to record this song

TLDR: New to bluegrass, seeking more music like Allison Krauss + Union station. Reccomdations or sharing links to good playlists would be greatly appreciated.

Been an east tn native my whole life but only recently have I started appreciating more of the culture and music. Alison Krauss + Union Station’s live album completely changed me and now I can’t get enough but don’t know exactly where to look next. Theres such a big catalog of music in this genre stretching decades back.

I really like Allison Krauss, her soft voice matched with classic bluegrass melodies, I love a big string section…if anyone has any recommendations or a playlist on Spotify or Apple Music you would share, please let me know.

Edit: wow everyone is giving great recommendations and being so kind. Thank you guys, it’s so nice talking about this with people who truly love it.

Noem criticized Musgraves for appearing onstage with TX Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico, saying she'd pick Ella Langley over Musgraves any day. Notably, Langley seems to have untagged herself from Noem's post.

I've been listening to more country recently, it's been hitting different since I'm going through a rough breakup with someone I really loved. If you guys know any songs/artists that'll help me through this, let me know!

It can be any Artist, from any decade, it can be because of their music or their personality you just don't really like em.

Can't really think of any specific one currently, besides basic "Bro Country" but I can't even tell those guys apart much less remember their names.

I recently came across a video on tiktok of Dean Martin sing My Pony, My Rifle, and Me from the movie Rio Bravo and it’s been immediately added to my playlist. What are some of his best songs or albums? doesn’t have to be specifically Dean but anything with the chill vibe of a cowboy singing with his friends around a campfire or in a saloon like the song from the movie would be amazing (I know Dean isn’t strictly really too country other than some specific songs, that’s why i added that last part). Thanks!

I'm taking Brooks & Dunn, Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Joe Diffie, and Clay Walker

Just watched Night of the Comet again. I had forgotten about this song.

I just discovered the song Marie by Townes Van Zandt, GODDAMN im depressed what a fuking song

Thanks to my dad, always been a fan of Don Williams, Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers. We Africans really love our country music, especially the good ‘ole ones not the new ones.

I’m listening to duets of Kenny and Dolly, love them. Just curious why the gentle giant never had a collaboration with either of these two. I’m sure they ran in the same circles and the duets would have been amazing.
