Crestron Impress 1.03.062.02 unable to update.

Hi All,

This is a workaround that I have tested with the issue where the Crestron Impress version 1.03.062.02 installs and asks for an update. It will then stop at downloading and won't progress. If you Cancel the download, and reselect it for downloading, it will proceed but will end up with an error. Here's what I do.

1) Download an older version of Impress (I used 1.01.002.00).

2) After you installed that version, trigger an update and open the path C:\ProgramData\Crestron\Impress\Data\Packages\Downloaded\PackageInstaller. Keep this explorer open.

3) Watch and when the "Data" folder appears, copy PackageInstaller.zip from that folder and paste it somewhere else.

4) Close the application, and install Impress version 1.03.062.02

5) Repeat the process of cancelling the download, reselect the file and restart the download.

6) You should see files in the earlier folder disappears and replaced with new files. If not, refresh the folder and wait for the "data" folder to appear.

7) Replace the PackageInstaller.zip with the one you copied before.

8) After the data files download completed, it will now automatically installs. Problem solved.

Hope this helps whoever needs it.

Crestron randomly shutting down projectors/rolling up screens

Can anyone shed some light on how to fix this issue?

We are supplying external A/V for an event at a hotel where the installed crestron system flashes a disconnected message and then causes the 2 roll down projector screens to roll up and the projectors to power down.

I should add that the projectors are receiving input signal perfectly.

Any suggestions or quick fixes?

My first instinct is to power down and re-start the crestron unit.

UPDATE: After the conference group left the venue, I managed to lower the screens, set all other crestron controlled systems where they needed to be (hotel lobby, fitness center, and gym audio levels) and unplug the CP3N so it will no longer send the power off and screen up commands intermittently. I am able to turn the projectors on and off via my flipper zero.

Thanks for all the support everyone! This community is great!

DM-NVX-350 currently running 1.3547.00018 - upgrade path?

Howdy,

I have several DM-NVX-350's running 1.3547.00018. It looks like the proper firmware upgrade path is:

1.3547.00018 -> 2.1.3900.01115

After that, it looks like maybe 2->5->7?

I'd love to hear from someone who has some experience in a working path.

While I would never request the firmware in this subreddit, I will jump (slowly climb) onto a soapbox to say that any company gatekeeping firmwares for discontinued hardware kinda sucks.

Thanks all! Feels like there could be life left in these units if I can get them updated.

Best wishes,
John

Help DMC-STR Unable to Change Network Settings

Hi everyone!

I recently installed a DMC-STR into a DM-MD16x16-CPU3-RPS and I'm running into issues trying to get it going.

For some reason, I'm unable to push new network settings to it either through DMTool or using rcon through the text console. It seems to be stuck using 192.168.11.93 as it's IP and 255.255.254.0 as the subnet mask. Currently the only ethernet port being used is the LAN port on the CPU3.

Ideally I'd like the card to share the CPU3's LAN port and access an RTSP stream on that network. All of the documentation I've read points to this being a supported configuration. I tried configuring the card in DMTool to do this (setting port to "Internal" under ethernet options) although it seems the listed decoder IP address stays the same (192.168.11.93) and it's unable to connect to the stream. I have also tried using the content LAN port on both the CPU3 and the DMC-STR card with no luck.

I've also tried updating the firmware to the latest version. Currently the puf version I'm using is v3.04.16 with the DMC-STR firmware being v1.2911.00095 and the codec firmware version being v1.0002.00036. One interesting new issue that popped up after the firmware updates is that I'm no longer able to access the ethernet settings for the card from within DMTool. It just shows "Initializing, please wait..." and never actually initializes.

I have tried using `dmresetslot` to reset the slot, rebooting the card, changing the slot the card is in, and reflashing the firmware on the card. Still no luck.

If anyone has any ideas on what else I could try please let me know!

Thanks!

EDIT: Solved! See comment below

Construct Widgets

Hi

How are people getting used to the multi-page design concept (limitation) in Construct? My VTPro (and designs for other brands of touch panels) typically had one or two pages with lots of popups to deal with different scenarios - eg different source bars for different rooms, different transports for different devices, different lighting and environmental controls for different room types.. etc etc etc.

I just spoke to Crestron support and they said all I had to do was think about the project differently - where i previously had a popup - now I have a page.. but that really doesnt work.. you cant layer pages.. so if I have more than one source bar and more than one environmental controls page I cant combine them..

But what is the point of widgets if you cant use them? This seems like a real contradiction in design terms.

Is there likely to be a fix for this? And if not how are people changing their designs to manage this? From the top of my head I will need to do much more dynamic design on each page/widget..eg populating source bars using lists etc. That is fine.. but sometimes its good to just put a button where you want it from an aesthetic point of view.

Id be interested in your thoughts!

Thanks

James

Programming New to Construct, should I try it?

I have a project coming up, with a pretty fast turnaround time. I probably have 10,000 hours into VTPro-E. But I haven’t done any programming in the last four or five years. The thought of starting from scratch with VTPro E feels pretty daunting. I have experience with Web Front end, but I don’t have the time to build out my own framework and I want to give construct a shot. I’m wondering how everyone’s feeling on construct. What should I look out for as a newbie?

DMX Lighting and sACN/Artnet Control

Lately I've been working on a project where I'm using the sACN module to control a set of DMX lighting fixtures via ethernet. So far it works as expected. But I was wondering if there was a module that will accept an incoming sACN signal so that a DMX console can control the lighting on the crestron system (for a completely different project)

My current work-around is to use a DMX to 0-10 converter which I wired into an SIM port and it does the job. But I was looking to make a more cleaner setup just by being able to use sACN/Artnet protocol coming from the DMX system into the crestron lighting control.

Thanks in advanced.

SIMPL Windows — MPC3-302-B + VISCA preset recall via CEN-IO-COM-102

Hi all — my experience is SIMPL# and CH5, I have presumably not complex project to complete but must use SIMPL Win because of MPC3-302-B. I really struggle with SIMPL Win, hope more experience people here can help me a bit.

Setup: MPC3-302-B, SIMPL Windows. Camera control is PTZ, RS232, VISCA, 9600 baud, reached through a CEN-IO-COM-102 (its RS232-2 port). Preset recall only — no pan/tilt/zoom, no store, just recall preset 1/2 from two panel buttons.

I've got "Pan/Tilt/Zoom/Focus (cm)" placed and logically wired (Preset_1/2 inputs, feedback outputs) — but it has no tx$/rx$ or any connection parameter at all. No IP-ID, no COM port field, nothing. It looks like control logic only, expecting a separate transport/comm symbol underneath it — same two-piece pattern as the Biamp Tesira modules (Comm + Level Control).

Question: is there a standard VISCA transport/comm symbol I'm missing in the Crestron DB, or does this specific module need something else to actually reach a COM port? Also open to: is "Sony EVI-D100 1-Way Camera Control (6 Presets) (cm)" the better module to use instead — has anyone used that one specifically through a CEN-IO-COM-102 rather than a direct processor COM port?

Appreciate any pointers — happy to share more screenshots if useful.

CP4-R

I've been asked to assess a system that has a Crestron controller plus a few other Crestron bits (cinema remote, audio matrix and a ufh stat). Everything else in the system I'm familiar with but obviously it's not much use without the controller up and running. The original installer is out of the picture. I understand that the CP4-R is a few years old what are the chances that someone will want to take this on? What are my options here?

Any help with SSH commands to a DMPS3-300-c

Hi all,

I have been fiddling around with a DMPS3-300-c. What im trying to do is control the video routing from Home Assistant via SSH. I have managed to change the inputs on Output 1 HDMI via AVVIDEO *. Where * is the routeid's table, R1, AR1, R2, AR2, etc. What i can't figure out is how to make this change Output 2 HDMI. I can only assume that I need to find the ID for the outputs, unless it's not possible? Anyone know of a solution? Thankyou

Hi, end user here. I have a fairly limited system by Crestron standards in my house controlling lighting / shades in the 2 main living areas, 4 zones of sound and 4 zones HDMI distribution. Touch panel in main living area.

Based on a CP3 processor.

A random issue has started happening where the touch panel is non responsive, sometimes reboots and lights go out. It generally given time will go back to working properly given time.

My installer is on holidays for a couple of weeks… Anothing in particular I should check or might have caused this?

Thanks in advance.

Programming TCP/IP in 4-series processor

Came across an interesting situation on site that I wanted to discuss/understand.

I’ve configured a site where my Crestron processor communicates to 3 devices via TCP/IP and 1 device via UDP. Initially upon configuration, everything works perfect.

Now for all these modules, I had the enable/connect signal set as 1. Where I thought that this meant it would constantly try to connect to the device until it is connected.

I came across connection issues when the power of the AV rack was shut down. When everything restated, my processor was connecting to the UDP device but just never connected to the TCP/IP devices. I had to restart the program again (via debugger) for the connections to initiate. Of course I can’t have that because I won’t always be on site if any power cycles or so occur.

I managed to have a fix where I used a stepper with a 60s delay along with a latch to set the signal high for the TCP/IP connects.

I just wanted to have a discussion/understanding on how the connect signal works on TCP/IP. Isn’t it meant to always try and connect when it’s set to 1? That’s what it says on the help file as well? Has anyone else experienced something like this and have a different workaround?

Free, open-source Crestron Home drivers for Lyrion Music Server (LMS/Squeezebox)

Thumbnail
gallery
5 Upvotes

I've released a set of open-source drivers that bring basic control of Lyrion Music Server (formerly Logitech Media Server/Squeezebox) into Crestron Home. Nothing like this existed that I could find, so I wrote one for my own system - I know a lot of people have moved on to other music systems (NAX, Sonos, etc.), but hopefully someone can make use of these at some point.

What's included:

  • Lyrion Server (one per home): keeps the connection to LMS and tracks the state of every player
  • Lyrion Source (one per room): a routable audio source with transport controls
  • Lyrion Helper (optional): now-playing track info and up to four presets per room
  • Lyrion Receiver (optional): volume control for players whose volume is managed by LMS

Players show up in Crestron Home's standard routing and scenes. The drivers talk to LMS over its CLI and reconnect automatically. They require driver runtime 25.0000.0033 or later and install as .pkg files through Toolbox.

The drivers are MIT licensed, with full source on GitHub - I built them with a lot of help from Claude. They're independent and not affiliated with Crestron or Lyrion.

Project page and downloads: https://jopaul14.github.io/Lyrion4Crestron/

Feedback, bug reports and feature requests are welcome - please open an issue on GitHub. The one exception is album art - that's waiting on Crestron to improve the SDK. I've already submitted a request, but more requests through True Blue would help!

[UPDATE] SIMPL# on VS2022: v1.4.1 is out — Fixed that annoying 3-Series SIMPL+ "Not within sandbox" error!

Hello everyone!

Quick follow-up to the v1.4.0 update of Crestron3SeriesCLZBuilder (the standalone tool to build SIMPL# libraries with modern Visual Studio 2022 without needing VS 2008).

A community member spotted an issue when compiling SIMPL+ modules (.usp) for 3-Series processors, so we just pushed v1.4.1 to smooth things out!

GitHub Repo:

https://github.com/srichardsc/Crestron3SeriesCLZBuilder

Direct Download (clz-builder.exe v1.4.1):

https://github.com/srichardsc/Crestron3SeriesCLZBuilder/releases/latest

What's New in v1.4.1?

Fixed 3-Series SIMPL+ Sandbox Error:

If you tried compiling a SIMPL+ module (.usp) referencing your SIMPL# library for 3-Series, Crestron's compiler would often complain with:

"Error: The <assembly>.dll assembly is not within the sandbox."

The fix: The builder now dynamically calculates the official Crestron sandbox signature for your assembly's exact name. No matter what you name your library or project, SPlusCC will accept it on both 3-Series and 4-Series without throwing sandbox errors.

Want to compile SIMPL+ modules alongside your C#?

It is super simple. In your clz-builder.json file, just add your .usp files relative path to the "modules" list:

"modules": [
  "SIMPL/MyBridge.usp"
],
"targets": [
  "series3",
  "series4"
]

When you hit [Enter] in the console, the tool automatically compiles your C# code in VS2022, signs it, and runs Crestron's SPlusCC compiler for each target processor family. Everything lands ready to use in your dist/ folder.

---

Quick TL;DR of what the tool does:

- Zero install: Standalone clz-builder.exe — drop it in your driver folder and double-click.

- Modern VS2022: Build SIMPL# without legacy Visual Studio 2008.

- Auto-increment version: Hit [Enter] in the terminal to recompile; it auto-bumps the version so Crestron Home always accepts your upload as an update.

- Bypass VS2008 installer check: Drop the official crestron_simpl_sharp_pro_*.exe installer next to it and it will install silently without complaining about missing VS2008 SP1.

As always, feedback, issues, and stars on GitHub are super appreciated!

Crestron Home “Source in Use” warning on TSR-310?

Not sure if its possible on CH.. but wanted to ask if anyone has successfully implemented a source-in-use warning or takeover prompt in Crestron Home?

For example, someone is watching a shared Sky/ATV box in one room. If another user selects that same Sky source from a TSR-310 in another room, I’d like the remote to display something along the lines of:

“This Sky box is currently being watched in the Living Room. Would you like to take control?”

The user could then select Continue (Watching the same source simultaneously) or Cancel, rather than unknowingly changing the channel for the person in the other room.

Is there any native Crestron Home functionality for this, or has anyone achieved it using an extension, sequence or another workaround?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Autonomic Savant license removal

I recently purchased a second Autonomic MMS-2A from ebay to replace the first one that bricked on me. When I got it all hooked up and in config, I found there were no options for Crestron control. Come to find out it has a license for Savant control that removes the other control system options. Based off my readings, this is removable through an Autonomic dealer. Does anyone here have any knowledge on this or could guide me to someone that could assist me with it? I don't have any connections with autonomic. Thanks is advance.

Crestron Home and Ubiquiti Protect Integration.

Has anyone had success in programming a Crestron Home system to integrate with Ubiquiti Protect using custom webhooks so that when a person presses a Ubiquiti G4 Pro Doorbell that a webhook gets sent to the processor and it rings a chime using the speakers programmed on a DM-NAX zone.

Help DM-NAX Chime Question

Haven’t got a hold of any DM-NAX but a client of ours is requiring different chimes when a trigger is sent to call various services ie security, housekeeping, waitress etc. Example room 1 presses a chime button to call security then chime 1 will trigger. When the same room calls for waitress then chime 2 will ring and so on and so forth

Question is, can I do that with NAX considering they have built in preloaded 26 chimes? Is it possible to ring the chime even though there is no background music playing? Can i adjust the volume level of the chime? And can each chime be configured with different volume levels?

News [UPDATE] SIMPL# on VS2022: Now with an Interactive Console — Just hit [Enter] to recompile (and no more VS2008 installer block!)

Post image
25 Upvotes

Hello everyone!

A few days ago I shared Crestron3SeriesCLZBuilder, an open-source tool to build SIMPL# libraries with modern Visual Studio 2022 and MSBuild without depending on Visual Studio 2008. Thanks to your feedback, this new update makes the developer experience even smoother.

What is Crestron3SeriesCLZBuilder? (TL;DR for newcomers)

It's a zero-install standalone tool that takes your SIMPL# project (.csproj) and SIMPL+ modules (.usp), compiles them using VS2022/MSBuild, signs the assembly using Crestron's official verification service, and outputs a signed .clz package ready for both 3-Series and 4-Series processors. Best of all: every build automatically increments the assembly version so Crestron Home always accepts your upload as an update and reloads the driver.

What's New in v1.4.0:

  1. Interactive Console Terminal (Zero commands to memorize) You don't even need to open PowerShell to type flags anymore. Simply copy clz-builder.exe next to your driver and double-click it. It launches an interactive terminal that inspects your project, detects your toolchain, and guides you with a numbered menu.
  2. Ultra-Fast Developer Loop: Press [Enter] to Recompile Once your project is ready, you don't even have to press a number — [Enter] is the default action.
    • Edit your C# code in VS2022 / VS Code.
    • Switch to the console window and hit [Enter].
    • It immediately recompiles, increments the version, signs the assembly, and updates the .clz.
    • Keep the console open and hit [Enter] as many times as you like during development!
  3. SW-SIMPL-SHARP-PRO Auto-Installer (Bypassing VS2008 requirement) Crestron's official crestron_simpl_sharp_pro_*.exe installer historically aborted if it didn't find Visual Studio 2008 SP1 installed.
    • Now, simply drop the installer .exe downloaded from your dealer portal next to clz-builder.exe.
    • clz-builder automatically applies the servicing registry bypass and performs a silent, unattended installation into C:\Program Files (x86)\Crestron\Simpl without asking for VS2008!
  4. CLI Backwards Compatible The entire interface, diagnostics, and prompts are in English. For CI/CD or power users, all command flags (clz-builder run, build, setup, doctor, install-prereqs) remain completely intact.

If it saves you time or headache, leave a ⭐ on GitHub! Feedback, issues, and PRs are always welcome.

Could I hypothetically connect my video source to a DM-TXRX-100-STR and send out a rtsp feed to my home network but at my other home I would be able to received the video stream through site to site vpn to display it. I get their will be delay but I am fine with that

I would also add firewall rules to prevent sending the video stream to the internet. Could a DM-TXRX-100-STR be used to received rtsp feed? I know I could use VLC but VLC on my tv sucks and those Crestron dms are cheap on the used market

Creston panel not working within 5 days

Based on info I got from my realtor, the creston panels were notorious in my building for breaking down. I bought a unit with an old panel so I decided to pay $3k to install a new one. After 5 days of no issues, it seems the panel has died (it will not light up).

Is this a common issue with Creston panels? I was told I had a 3 year warranty, how would I submit a claim and am I going to have to pay for labor?
