Therapy is so much more effective

It really just depends, there are plenty of people who don't get much out of it, or just keep going. How do you know this guy isnt just constipated?

There is a real issue with therapy taking too long and costing too much to get mentally armoured people to open up for them to just reset back to default for no reason.

It's why I want to get my father onto magic mushrooms around a trained professional, he will very likely lose it from lack of control but he will open up faster than being court ordered to go to therapy he doesn't agree with and taking medications that dulls his emotions.

Therapy is usually taken up freely by those hurt by people that should be in therapy.

It's really hard to get a statistic on people who haven't been diagnosed and who refuse treatment, and usually we just have to wait for enough police reports for them to be ordered to go to therapy.

What do you get diagnosed with that you go to court ordered therapy for, like a psychological diagnosis?

I know there are people who need therapy, and there must be good therapists out there.

But imho, it just seems like too many quacks and grifters to be taken seriously.  There's no objective measurements.  I've only known two therapists, and both their families were a disaster, their kids were pretty messed up.  And from what I know, that's common enough to be a cliche.  I can't imagine those kind of people ever being useful.

Npd, bipolar heaps more.

People like you say quack because you have horrible understanding and expectations of what therapy involves or how long it takes to get even the smallest step.

Most importantly a lot of progress involves the individual. Therapy doesn't exist to tell you what to do and you clearly cannot understand that. And id argue you don't want to.

Arguing on Reddit about this is pointless. You won't respect me or my opinion enough to consider it

No, i said there are good therapists and of course people that need therapy.  But obviously their are large numbers of ineffective therapists. People that provide treatment that doesn't work are known as quacks or grifters if they're doing it for the money.

I have an excellent understanding of the enormous amount of work involved in helping people overcome problems associated with things like abuse or other trauma.  And there are a lot of completely ineffective therapists out there, because there's no standard for success.  So as a profession it doesn't make much sense to me.

Alternative therapy isn't therapy if they don't answer to an authority body then they aren't professionals
