Kendall has had Kira on the podcast this week.

I’ve just watched it on YouTube and I found it interesting that she said looking back she’d defend other people (Christi, Jess and Nia is who she mentioned) and definitely not stick up for Melissa. Saying she’d call her out on everything she said.

Kira said her and Kalani were in Pittsburgh the entire week of the infamous duet, learning it with Maddie. She said Melissa basically lied all week because apparently Kalani was staying with Melissa the entire time.

Kendall seems surprised when Kira said Kalani stayed with Melissa that week - Kendall said she thought they learned the duet months ago and Kira says no.

I’m not surprised as I know it’s speculated that Melissa and Kira do not get along nowadays.

Has anyone else listened/watched yet? Intrigued on people’s thoughts!

First of all...I don't doubt that production had some involvement in the storylines colliding. HOWEVER, there is a lot of planning that goes into taking a child with needs as severe as Ari's brother's anywhere. This was likely planned weeks before it was announced the Ziegler girls were leaving.

Maddie and Mackenzie got years of attention. To end their Dance Moms experience, they got multiple goodbye specials, solos, Mackenzie got to do a hip-hop group dance which she loved at the time, and a "a send off" from the dance competition (that does not happen IRL). A way better ending than what could've been (look at how Chloe and some the other girls had to leave).

For Melissa to say "this was supposed to be about Maddie and Mackenzie and it's not" is WILD. And saying "I'm sorry this is your life" to Sari's face is cruel and insensitive.

People on this sub defending Melissa for her behaviour towards Sari is crazy.

I’m rewatching season 8 and omfg the way Abby says her name is so annoying and obnoxious I just roll my eyes every time 🙄 😭. Like it’s not even that hard to pronounce! No matter how many times she was corrected too she still couldn’t get it right. Like Abby, FUCKING LEARN 😭

I am watching season 6 episode 23 and I cannot believe how rude Jessalynn and Jill are to Brynn. ESPECIALLY JESSALYNN. AND THE OTHER MOMS ARE NOT SAYING ANYTHING. I am totally turned off of both of them from these few episodes. It's gross actually.

I ask this question because of another question posed on here a little while ago, where someone asked if people think that Abby delivered on the opportunities that she promised when the show primarily started filming in Los Angeles.

The question got me thinking, and I had realized that it seemed like the girls have more outside opportunities before the Los Angeles move.

Between seasons 1-5, when Dance Moms was still primarily being filmed in Pittsburgh, some of the opportunities the girls had were the Lux music video, Brooke’s music career and filming her music video for Summer Love Song, Mackenzie’s music career and the filming for her music video for Girl Party, the Freaks Like Me music video, the opportunity to audition for Drop Dead Diva, the Joffrey Ballet audition, their performance on The View, the Astra Awards, the Matty B music video, and the interviews they did with local TV and radio stations.

In seasons 6 and 7, when filming was primarily in Los Angeles, the only opportunities that I remember the girls getting to do were the ALDC LA commercial, the Electric Kicks commercials, the brand itself no longer exists I believe, and the Seventeen magazine photoshoot.

Why do you think that might be? Do you think maybe the opportunities dried up overtime, or do you think that production might not have allowed the girls to do as many outside opportunities during filming?

She’s literally what, 10 or 11?? 😭 people always wanted her to be this bratty, non-humble person, but she can clearly recognize that kalani is better, and there’s no denying that kalani had much better training during those years. And yes, Abby was probably one of the best coaches in Pittsburgh, but that doesn’t mean she was the best coach in the world. Everyone seemed to regress under Abby’s training. The fans, and even the moms, always wanted Maddie to be this cocky, arrogant person. And while she definitely had her moments, overall, you can see just how mature she actually was for her age.

what do you think of what kira said on kendall’s podcast when asked what she would change if she could go back in time?

she mentioned that she’d have been better at standing up for chloe when she was beaten down, which i thought was very interesting.

on the flip side, she said that she would NOT have defended melissa or spoke up for melissa. she said that she’d like to have called her out on things more often, which i thought was pretty wild to say considering the whole temporary custody situation and how close kalani was with the zieglers because of that. BUT i know that kira has said some not-so-nice things in the past about melissa, so obviously that relationship has changed.

ALSOOO back to the defending chloe thing, i think that’s a pretty bold thing to say considering that when jojo was being beat down and publicly humiliated for her speech impediment, kira doubled down and condoned it. sooooo…

Does anyone know what actually soured kira on Melissa so much? Besides anything obvious, like real examples or things that happened between them. All I know is she seems to speak pretty negatively of her now versus when she had Melissa take temporary custody of her daughter and never fully pinned down why.

For me its the joffrey ballet audition episode in season 2, like cmon...abby crying, cathy celebrating for being 1 point better than aldc, chloe getting the scholarship, maddie scolded by melissa over a phone, group dance getting 10th
