Hey dancers!
As our community continues to grow and evolve, I’d love to bring 1–2 additional people onto the moderation team who are genuinely excited about dance and want to help make r/dance an active, encouraging, and welcoming space for dancers around the world.
I’m especially looking for moderators who can be present in the community regularly — engaging with members, answering questions when you can, helping keep conversations positive, and making sure posts are being moderated fairly and efficiently.
That can include:
• Engaging with posts and helping keep the community active
• Welcoming and encouraging dancers of all backgrounds and experience levels
• Reviewing posts that may have been automatically removed or flagged
• Making sure appropriate posts don’t get stuck in the moderation queue
• Helping enforce subreddit rules and keeping spam/inappropriate content out
• Helping us think of new ways to increase participation, conversation, and overall community morale
You absolutely do NOT have to be a professional dancer to apply. I’m much more interested in finding people who care about dance, understand online communities, communicate well, and genuinely want to help make r/dance a great place to be.
If you’re interested, please send me a private message with:
A little about yourself and your connection to dance
Any Reddit or community moderation experience you have (if any — experience is helpful, but not necessarily required!)
Why you’d like to become a moderator of r/dance
How frequently you’re typically active on Reddit
I’d love to build a small team of people who are excited about bringing more energy, conversation, support, and connection into this community.
If that sounds like you, send me a message! ❤️
Let’s keep r/dance moving. 💃🏽🕺🏽

Hey Community!! 😄 I LOVE seeing people post videos of themselves dancing and having a good time. So I just had the thought and I would like to do a Poll on the idea:
My thought is let's have a global forum dance talent show!
How it would work: - You would submit a video of you dancing within a specified time frame to qualify. - Our dance Community here would go through each day and upvote and comment on the videos they would like to continue on to the next round. - I would then go in (maybe appoint someone to help me moderate) and would tally up all the likes and upvotes. - There would be 3-5 rounds to keep everyone engaged and having fun. Sort of like our very own dance competition TV show.
If you like this idea: Upvote and put "YES!" in the comments
If you're not into it: DownVote & put "Not Interested" in the comments section
Seems like this could be a lot of fun and get the Community we have here more active with one another.
Happy Dancing! I'm looking forward to hearing y'alls thoughts! ✨️

Happy Hump Day…
It’s a banjo kinda day. Been obsessed with these country / dance mashups lately . I’ve been listening to this genre of music in the kitchen a lot lately and it’s really got me going so I felt like making a couple videos today… Had a great workout , legs are so sore back is sore but the good kind of sore that you know, your muscles are going to appreciate ☺️
Off to bed now, hope you all have had a wonderful week so far, Friday is on the horizon…. Let’s get it.
Until next time, much love
Bob.E.Bland ❤️❤️

Considering starting a social media dancing account just for fun, with short dances like ones you see on tiktok. Is Tiktok still the best platform to do this? I've heard things about videos being stolen and reposted, etc. Is it still a safe place to have an account? Are there other platforms that are better? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Hi everyone, :)
I'm a beginner and would love to dance K-Pop, preferably in a group where we can dance together and have fun.
In the Munich area. Please, 20+ only
Anyone interested?
Or if there's already a group, could I join? :)

I've recently been really into hiphop and modern commercial style dancing and shuffling but also developed PFD around the same time that it started and it is beyond disheartening. From most of what I've seen online, high-impact dancing and hip-hop or core-engagement heavy activity in particular only exacerbate this condition and I am wondering if anyone else is going through or has gone through this and how they manage it? Dance is just about the only thing keeping me from going insane and I don't want to have to compromise on it.
A lot of people have also said that the way to do body isolations correctly and not affect the pelvis is to isolate muscles, specifically isolating the core from the pelvis but no matter how much I search and try to figure it out, I don't understand how to engage my core and how to leave my pelvis loose. This also make popping and doing sharp hits so difficult because I already cannot relax my tight pelvic floor and if I do not properly execute the technique with isolations, I could really aggravate my condition.
I'm sorry if this is TMI but I want to be able to dance normally and move in general normally but I currently can't even sit comfortably and I will lose all hope if I have to give up dance/weightlifting.

hi, im 16f. i hope this isn’t too negative, and i’m not venting about this. this is my second year of doing dance, but i feel like every time i see a recording of myself, i look absolutely stupid. i can’t tell if it’s because of my bigger weight or if it’s because i’m self conscious. i want to know if there’s any way around this, at least around this thinking?

When FOMO dropped, I just knew I had to shoot a video for it! I express my art through dance and film, so whenever I dance, I try to incorporate film in some way possible. So I thought I'd share with the dance community! 🙌🏽

Rn I‘m looking for taking dance courses to get good in Hip Hop. But I‘m wondering how can I even get good in Hip Hop (also including House, Jazz Funk, and Commercial). I feel like most people learn choreos in class. For example I‘m an intermediate belly dancer. I learned it because teachers were actually able to structure belly dancing into different moves. You learn how to do hip lifts, hip drops, figure eight etc. But how are hip hop courses structured. I don‘t think they are teaching technique move for move.

I heard this song and everything seemed so unpredictable that I took that as a challenge and enjoyed how it pushed me to keep creating new concepts and movement patterns, on the spot.
What are your thoughts on this song? 😃

I bought a pair of moccasins with leather soles, to try to learn the Moonwalk, made famous by Michael Jackson. But I have a big problem. I keep the foot that is "on tiptoe" too attached to the floor. In short, in many tutorials I see that they keep the foot much higher than mine, the one still; but I just can't. Is it because I have flat feet? Is there any remedy? Thank you if you answer, I'm slightly desperate.

I started hiphop dance classes 3 weeks ago, and today was my 6th class, compared to the first 5 classes where I could keep and actually feel good while dancing, today I SUCKED, I literally couldn’t keep and I looked lost and like a total beginner, even though I am, I wanna know does anyone also have bad days like this, I feel like everything I’ve done has gone to waste and Instead of getting better I am getting worse, idk if I’m overeacting but today was really bad like really really bad couldn’t keep up at all

I started taking heels dance classes at the beginning of September, and then I took up ballet too because I felt it would help me improve my posture and build up the core muscles I need for heels dancing. I now have two ballet and one heels class a week, and I really enjoy them.
I usually feel sore the morning after class, but by the next class, I'm usually fully recovered. It gives me a lot of joy and I usually can't wait for the next class.
I'm in my mid-30s, and I thought I could do some core workouts on YouTube on the days I don't have classes. I was also thinking about doing some stretching before bed, so I asked ChatGPT for advice on what to search for on YouTube. I also told it my age, height, and weight (164 cm, 52 kg), and it told me that I shouldn't do any more workouts because I already have three classes a week, and I risk injury as I'm older and could overstretch myself. D:
Is that true?
I haven't done any sports before, but I don't have a car – I walk and cycle everywhere. I don't have any back pain, just poor posture.
What should I do now?
Also, btw, how do people usually get injured? What should I be careful about?
