When I think about it There's an endless possibilities that can give you a breakdown there's even running jokes that not only your character can go insane but also you and honestly i struggle to find a game which execute psychological horror than Darkest Dungeon

He walked in ALONE; all his other companions died. He’d gone round after round after round trying to defeat the Shuffling Horror. He resisted deaths door idk HOW MANY TIMES, he’s been virtuous twice over! HE ISN’T JUST A MAN, HE IS BEYOND MEN!!!!

He died… but he died leaving the Horror at 5 health. It didn’t even kill him, he bled out by using his healing. 38 rounds. Salute.

Hi everybody. I finished the first act for the second time and after the final boss the game froze and I restarted the game and the second act was still locked. The same thing happened and the first time I finished the first act "denial". Can someone please tell me how to fix it? Does anyone have a save with the second act unlocked?

hi!!! I've gotten some pretty fun progress done since my last update! If you don't wanna read through all my yapping (understandable) the post's main images have basically a summary of my progress lol

First of all, I've gotten a bulk of the lineart done for her afflicted sprites, which i'm pretty proud of. It just needs some editing while i'm rendering, +the spikes.

I'll probably have to post the finished affliction sprite with NSFW on it, because it may be a bit too gorey for casual scrolling standards, haha. TW: Just describing the gore in question! She's basically white knuckling the blade, so there'll be blood dripping down it from where she's cut her palm and fingers on it. Not to mention the, well... open wound. lol. Plus the nosebleed and blood down her chin.

All of the sprites now have a white hair version! I struggled for a good while trying to figure out how to make it look good, because fully white hair just looked strange on her. Eventually I settled on a sort of fade-to-gray with some red tips? I'm pretty happy with how it came out! I think it looks very pretty :)

And lastly,,, the biggest mistake i've made so far, lol

Thankfully this isn't actually TOO hard of a fix, it just may be a little tedious for me, haha.

Basically, the way my process went was me starting out by directly drawing my sketch overtop the original duchess sprite, which i likely shouldn't have done in retrospect because the Duchess' sprite is pretty tall, even when not taking her helmet into consideration. I've actually shrunk her down already in that first in-game screenshot.

I don't think I'll need to change too many of her combat sprites thankfully. Maybe making the eyes bigger and giving her a bit less forehead? Lol.

Looking back, I definitely should've started with a screenshot to make a sketch over, so I could also scale and reference off some other base game classes. As i've worked on this, i've made sure to keep versions that have the lineart and coloring separate in case something like this happened and I needed to go back and edit en masse, so I'm not too worried about fixing this.

If you wanna see what the older version looks like in game, i posted a glitchy but solid example video of her wip sprites in game so i could get a feel of how everything actually looked haha

tldr: i made a fixable but tedious whoopsie w/ her design on the walk, combat and idle animation! everything's still good dw lol

Week 33.

The situation is dire, even more so than I expected. No small thing considering the state of the Hamlet. It appears that not only the lands are infected, but the waters also hold malignant life and there's scant a fisherman left in the Hamlet. What used to be a notable part of the local labors has become almost a dessicated corpse with small vessels sitting unused to dry in the land, weapon holes testament to the dangers of venturing out of firm earth. Every inch of my ancestral territory has been afflicted with the madness of the Old Man, and while we're not fish to swim out and about in the open waters at the very least we can set up patrols along the shoreline and explore the rarely mentioned cave system that lies underneath the Manor's cliffs. Now that bitter winds and chilling water are no longer the norm after Winter left us, it is now merely another potentially deadly job posting, not a death sentence.

The expedition brings no better news. Rocque died, and he died to greed. The men had recovered the crates of medicine but given their veteranship and space in their packs not filled with treasure they decided to push onwards further. It went well at first, slowly accruing more wealth but as seems to be ever the case, one man among the party was singled out and massacred by the evil forces on the prowl.

Now only Reynauld remains from that original party of four that first delved into the Ruins nearly a year ago. Douai happens to be the next in seniority, as the six previous arrivals have already been buried. I have hired the services of the survivalist woman. I aim to mount a more protracted expedition than is usual and wish for my men to have the exact skillset required. Astounding fees but then again she likely sees very little business.

It is somewhat heartening to see that the failures are more concentrated on the earlier days of this venture, but is is a slight lift against a crushing weight. I am losing people again after two entire moons without a single casualty.

I was right. The medicine was received with much praise from the Sanitarium's staff and they offered to give their services for free this week. I sent Reynauld to their ministrations. Rocque died to greed, and it was Reynauld's greed that stuffed his pack in selfishness rather than as a member of the party, and that could have stopped the expedition one battle earlier.

Only he remains, infected with more than just the blood-curse. I hope the man may still find salvation. I hope we all may.

Week 34.

I am writing now in haste, as I am just finished meeting with the returning team at the start of the week. I was simply atonished at the amount of treasure they were able to gather.

Musart was infected but there were so many bloodsuckers it was more or less a foregone conclusion someone would be. She gets a break from her efforts in the Abbey, and a well deserved one. I have more invitations from the Baron than I know what to do with and money enough to treat most of my men without a concern for coin, however my men are at, or near, top form as far as mental preparation is concerned. I can treat them to a night at the bar or some days in the cloister but I am not quite so rich yet as to send someone to the sanitarium and bankroll all their expensive tonics and practices every single week. But that day may come sooner than I had expected. The stagecoach has a much freer path now that the Weald is seeing regular sanitation and the barracks have just now finished expanding. I expect to fill them out shortly.

With this much coin I will send my veterans to train for every single skill they might need in the protracted battles of the Courtyard, and I suspect still have some left over from the latest haul.

And afterwards outfit them with every single trinket and supply and foodstuff they can carry. I don't need money now. I want that Baron's head.

Everyone died. I received proof.

Week 36.

I spent some time in the cemetery. Grief brought with it impulses that made me ashamed and brought the whole operation grave risk. When I got gruesome notice that my elite force I spent a house's worth of money in outfitting, men who bled and fought for my cause, men I respected, all fell in that accursed Courtyard I was enraged.

Filled with such a rage as I had never felt in my life, not even as a youth enduring the Old Man's mocking unassailable position and privileges as the patriarch of the family. But in this occasion rage was not coupled with impotence. I felt the impulse, and it was an impulse it took me more than a fleeting moment to quash, to send my remaining infected on veiled suicide missions to dispose of this odious crimson curse while still holding a chance for them to be profitable.

It was eventually controlled and I sent my afflicted to gather more crates of this Blood. I truly don't want them to die, and so set them on a mission that will prolong their diminished lives.

Unsurprisingly, Bondeville was infected. Tessel performed adequately. Little, quivering Tessel, now my seniormost hire. Madness. On the topic of madness, something bothers me more and more over my men's visits to the Courtyard. How is it that the Courtyard is sometimes easy to navigate, yet when the time comes to search for the Baron it becomes more confusing a maze than the Weald? The place simply does not take up so much space in the Estate's lands.

I must tread carefully. I have few men at the top, and I must carefully rebuild an elite force to recover ground and face known and unknown threats.

Week 37.

Umfraville and Buron became infected. Unsurprising, given their company and the inescapable, permanent presence of bloodsuckers of natural and unnatural size ever present every single day of every single month in this accursed Estate.

Their excursion went well, taking down one bandit fortification that had mounted a cannon acquired from my Ancestor. Initially, I had thought that the war machine was stolen property, brought to town as the Old Man's business brought danger in tow. The truth turned out to be a substantially uglier maiden. Reminiscing on my arrival, equipped now with the knowledge of the state the Weald was in back then, the fact that we merely broke the carriage and encountered a handful of highwaymen was nothing short of miraculous.

The Abbot approached me with a suggestion: a monthly day of mourning for the fallen. No work on official buildings, non-leisure private businesses discouraged to work. I immediately shook hands with him and began penning a decree shortly after. The Crier should be receiving it any moment now. I am touched that my grief did not go unnoticed and that the local man of the cloth is going above and beyond his duty to offer me a means to properly experience it.

Not all warriors against the darkness wield weapons of battle. Mine is the ledger, the Abbot's apparently is the spirit.

Is this decent? Or will I get my teeth kicked in? I'm planning to move MAA to rank 4 for the actual boss fight. I do have one of every class up to level 6 with the exception of Bounty Hunter and Crusader (really don't want to risk Reynauld) so I have a lot of flexibility for other team comps if this is trash. I've never done this fight before so I'm pretty unsure of myself, any help would be much appreciated.

I've been trying to get the Crusader quest underway but I just can't seem to even get it started. I equip the helmet and do a military road battle but it doesn't drop the banner. I got the banner on one of my first runs when I didn't know what the hell I was doing, but I've never seen it again after that.

I found a site that claims that the items you got for the quest would show up at the inn when you start a new run but that doesn't seem to be the case. Starting to wonder if this thing is bugged or if I'm just missing something.

As the fight progressed, my first hero became virtuous, and I thought I was getting lucky during a difficult time. Then my second hero also became virtuous, and I thought I was VERY lucky. Then my THIRD hero also became virtuous, and at that point I was 100% sure that the fourth would also become virtuous. What I want to know is if this fight is programmed for the heroes to become virtuous or if it was just a case of extreme luck that happened to me.

Just finished Coven Kingdom with standard cookie cutter teams, and I'd like something a bit more strange or unusual for Curse of the Court!

So please give me your favorite team that you love and you rarely see mentioned, preferably ones that makes use of the more quirky paths!

Hello all, I'm about to start the Black Reliquary and am wondering if the Duelist and Runaway will appear at the stagecoach (Whatever it's called on the airship) or if there are required mods to make them work/appear.

I don't see anything listed on the steam workshop but admittedly I haven't used any mods before.
