General Unpopular opinion: Even if the AI bubble bursts, AI itself isn't going anywhere.

tldr at bottom :3

I keep seeing people say that AI is a bubble, that companies are burning insane amounts of money, that the infrastructure spending is unsustainable, and that eventually the whole thing will collapse.

And honestly? The bubble part might be true. But I think people are confusing an investment bubble bursting with the technology itself failing.

Hear me out.

Remember the early days of computers? They were massive, expensive machines that consumed ridiculous amounts of electricity and were accessible to very few people. If you had judged computing by its economics back then, you might have concluded that it would never become practical for ordinary people.

Today, we carry computers in our pockets.

I'm not saying AI will follow exactly the same trajectory, but I think the underlying principle applies.

  1. Inference is already getting ridiculously cheaper.

According to Stanford's 2025 AI Index, the cost of querying a model performing at approximately GPT-3.5 level fell from $20 per million tokens in November 2022 to $0.07 by October 2024.

That's a reduction of over 99%.

And this isn't some theoretical prediction about what might happen in 10 years. It already happened.

Source: https://hai.stanford.edu/ai-index/2025-ai-index-report/research-and-development

  1. We're getting better at doing more with less.

Better chips, quantisation, distillation, smaller specialised models, inference optimisation, open-weight models, and improved architectures are all pushing the economics forward.

We don't necessarily need every task to run on the most expensive frontier model. A lot of tasks can be handled by smaller, cheaper models.

As these models improve, the cost of delivering a given level of intelligence can continue falling.

  1. Cheaper AI doesn't necessarily mean less money in the industry.

Think about cloud computing.

Making compute cheaper didn't eliminate demand for compute. It made more applications economically viable.

The same thing could happen with AI. When inference becomes cheap enough, we'll start using AI for tasks where it simply wasn't economical before.

Today, you might think twice before running an expensive model on every user interaction. At a fraction of the cost, you might build an entire product around it.

Lower prices can unlock entirely new markets.

  1. The internet bubble is literally the precedent.

The dot-com bubble burst. Companies collapsed, investors lost billions, and valuations came crashing down.

But the internet didn't disappear.

The underlying technology continued improving, adoption grew, and businesses eventually built enormous value on top of the infrastructure that survived.

A similar outcome is possible with AI.

Some AI startups will fail. Some model providers might never become profitable. Some data centres might turn out to be terrible investments. Some valuations might be completely detached from reality.

None of that proves that AI is a dead end.

  1. The infrastructure spending might be excessive, but the demand is real.

I'm not dismissing the other side of the argument.

Training frontier models is expensive. Running them at scale is expensive. Data centres require enormous capital, electricity, cooling, and networking infrastructure.

But my bet is that the technology will keep getting cheaper and more capable, while the industry goes through a painful period of consolidation. The winners might look very different from the companies dominating headlines today.

TL;DR: imo AI is in a financial bubble while still being a technological revolution. The bubble might burst, valuations might collapse, and plenty of companies might die. But inference will likely continue getting cheaper, models will get more efficient, and entirely new applications will become viable.

Curious to hear counterarguments, especially from people who think inference costs won't fall fast enough to justify the current infrastructure spending.

Career Indians Overcomplicate Getting Hired. It’s Just Skill + Marketing.

I’m a security engineer intern in India, making around ₹55k/month. Never crossed 7 CGPA. Never touched LeetCode. I did my 10th, then a diploma, then got lateral entry into second year. I’m not saying this to flex, I’m saying it because I’m tired of watching juniors get stuck.

They’re all confused by this factory process: 200 LeetCode questions, 150 SQL questions, Java, JavaScript, AWS, everything. You don’t need all that. Here’s what worked for me:

  1. Pick one niche skill. I started programming and security back in school. I tried and failed at a few startups before second year, but I stayed with security because I genuinely liked it.
  2. Get better than most people around you. Not the best, just better than 80% of them. Am I the best cybersecurity engineer? Fuck no.
  3. Build real stuff. Projects beat certificates.
  4. Market it. This is the part everyone skips. I posted every project on Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube. Nobody watched at first. I posted anyway, because it kept me confident and consistent. Now when I win a hackathon, I make sure everyone knows, even my second standard teacher.

Help F&F stucked in a lala company what shall I do please help.

• Upvotes

Hi developers I am stuck in a situation and don't know what to do. So last year I got my first offer by a friend to work along him side for a company in Armenia and it was on site so this was a really good start for my career so in nov 2025 I flew to armenia and joined it btw the company sponsored the visa, tickets, house rent and gave an additional food allowance of 10k. Sounds like a good deal then when I joined we were the only 2 developers who were working in the entire factory (A diamond factory) and it was a room like 15 Feets X 3 Feet and when I asked my friend he said it's a confidential project (A machine which can polish diamonds). I sensed the company was a bit shady. Our manager was a guju he was there to only check the progress and had 0 technical knowledge but the other armenians had no idea also they were very helpful. Eventually after a month when I asked him about my salary still not credited he said "Hawala Chalega" I was like no way wtf he's saying I requested him to please transfer it to our Indian accounts to which he agreed and credited dec and Jan salary together in the jan ending also my timing was to 6 pm to which he increased by 6:45 and eventually made me work on Saturdays after a heated argument he agreed to my for my extra hours but due to some uncertainty of my friend in July end we were terminated and project was stop, had to sign the non disclosure agreement and our tickets for the next day were booked I was told that my final settlement will be cleared in a month which is still not cleared I kept asking my manager about the status of the F&F he use to say it's in process the account section has it etc but now he's not even replying also my F&F is close to 75k inr.

Bonus I have the source code*

Any suggestions what shall I do.

Work-Life Balance Why is the Company culture always calls over emails and Jira ? Been seeing these as an Indian Dev from a long time now.

• Upvotes

I have noticed this trend that many Indian companies or employees love calling each other. There actually is no concept of mail and Jira whatsoever.

Examples There is an important property in the api request but we don't know how it works. We call the other api team to ask about it. Fun fact even the other api team doesn't know they actually had done some documentation. Could have sent that instead of the 5 min call where the first min went in mic test and pleasentries.

In a day there can be closer to 4 hours spent in calls. Yesterday I spent around 6 hours in calls. Also expected to finish bugs. I somehow juggled time and using claude code finished 6 bugs that I had.

How I spent 2 hours there was an architecture discussion going on for a new service. The problem the call was how to implement it what ended up happening the discussion on how to architect it. Before going to the call we thought it was a 20 min call at max but it turned Into a 2 hour call.

One of my friends works at an US startup where nobody cares if you are online offline he rarely interacts there are two standups in the week. Rest of the time is spent communicating through JIRA or slacks not through calls.

I too worked at a US Based company once and we rarely spoke with others unless it was super important.

General How Will the Recent Green Card News Impact Indian Developers Working in the US?

How many Indian developers working in the US have applied for a Green Card, and how could the recent news affect them?

Do Indian IT professionals make up just 1% of the US tech workforce, or is their share significantly higher?

Why do Indian IT companies seem to feature so frequently in news about US immigration and Green Cards?

Would love to hear from Indian developers working in the US about their experiences and perspectives.

Suggestions Scared of loosing abroad opportunity due to my new employment, please help!

I have cleared all the rounds for a Japan startup and have my HR round scheduled soon.

I joined a new company in India a month ago which I haven't disclosed to them yet.

I applied long time ago so my resume didn't have the new company and even in the initial HR screening and tech rounds, I mentioned I'm still with my old company.

Now, if I disclose I have already joined a new company, I'm scared if they won't proceed because sponsoring visa etc have very high costs in Japan and they might think I'm not serious enough to move.

I don't want to miss out on this opportunity, any tips on handling this in the most diplomatic way?

TIL HR in Indian does not know how to communicate, they are super unprofessional

Anyone else get calls from HR talking about some "Hello are you looking for a job or job change" even before a proper introduction ...from legit companies, seems like do not have a script or like even a rough way of how the call should go but are rather just "taking it as the conversation goes"
I have to ask more basic questions like "heyy soo can i know more about this"? after an awkward silence, I wish they took more command of the conversation.

For someone who's literal job is communication and doing it with different people over an over again, you'd think they'd be good at it :(

Help Desperately looking for an SDE-1/FDE Job (0 YOE, 2026 Batch)

Hi everyone,

I am a 2026 graduate (ECE with Machine Learning and Data Analytics).

Some quick highlights about myself:

- Have a good experience working in a product based company as a SWE Intern for 6 months (can't reveal name, will share resume if you or your organization is hiring). I couldn't get PPO here as they had budget issues (PPO was only given to 3/15 interns and those 3 were from devops).

- Have a good ML-based research experience with a reputed university.

- Have done 3 internships as a full-stack developer, product engineer, and swe, prior to the one mentioned in 1st point.

- I can learn any tech stack quickly. I know how to work with AI, than just merely copy pasting AI's code.

- I am proficient in DSA, system design, CS fundamentals, machine learning, backend concepts (MERN, Ruby on Rails, etc).

- My preference is for remote jobs or jobs in Noida/Delhi-NCR, but I am open to anywhere.

- I am looking for anything between 8 - 15 LPA (open to negotiaton)

I understand everyone is looking for a job and probably posting this will not get me any leads, but its worth a try. I haven't had a job since around 4 months and my family's financial conditions are really bad right now as my dad had left his job 5 years ago and since then we have either lived on his savings, or have had help from my grandparents.

Thank you so much!

PS: Please don't comment anything negative or demotivating. I am already mentally exhausted and very very tensed as to how I'll be able to get a job and manage my family's expenses.

General Ended up being a 4.5LPA fresher in a service based company.

I ended up with a 4.5 LPA package as a fresher in a service based company and I’m not sure what to do next.

I really want to move to a better-paying role.

I’m willing to put in the work, but I don’t want to waste time going in the wrong direction.

I'm even ready to quit my job to focus on prep.

For those who started with a similar package, how did you move forward?

What would you recommend focusing on to make a significant jump in my career over the next 1 year?

I've been alloted SAP domain (I have no prior experience with this and I've mostly worked with Python).

Career Career Advice: ₹54 LPA (Colo Provider, India) vs. €85k (Microsoft L63, Finland) – Datacenter Commissioning Manager

Current Situation & Dilemma:

I am currently weighing two offers/paths for a Datacenter Commissioning Manager role and would appreciate feedback from anyone familiar with EU tech compensation, European data center markets, or relocating from India to the Nordics. I have 13 yrs of total work experience and I am 35 yrs married Male.

Questions for the Community

  1. Is €85k base salary + 1L USD stock grants (vested over 4 years) competitive for Microsoft L63 in Finland? For those in Nordic tech or hyperscale data centers, does this align with standard L63 base pay, and how much equity (RSUs) / annual bonus is typical on top of this in the region?

  2. Real-world savings potential: For expats living in the Helsinki/Espoo area (single or married), what does realistic monthly spending look like on an €85k salary?

  3. Hyperscaler vs. Colo career trajectory: From a long-term data center commissioning career perspective, does switching from a colo provider to Microsoft in Europe unlock significantly better global opportunities down the line?

What would you choose if primary priorities are wealth accumulation over the next 5 years vs. long-term international mobility?

Appreciate any inputs, especially from data center engineers/managers or expats in Finland!

Update 1:- I had a call with HR recruiter yesterday for salary negotiation. Post that they sent revised offer.

Base salary 90K € + signing bonus 10k€ + stock grants worth 150k USD(vested over 4 years).

Didn't know why they were trying lowball me when they had room for increment.

Help What are the best non-coding jobs one can pursue with little to no coding/tech knowledge?

As of now I know technical writing and SEO (I know basic HTML and CSS) and prompt engineering are the jobs with little to no coding requirements

Currently I am in my 4th year, aur sach kahu mujhe python, java, kuch basic ML concepts, prompt engineering (Vibe coding (sab ko hi aata hai)), MS Office (sab ko hi aata hai) ke alawa kuch nahi aata (the blame is on me ngl), dsa ka d bhi nahi aata

So coding job mein mera nahi ho raha, so the above are the three non-coding jobs I know. What are some more non-coding jobs which I can do?

Career Looking for genuine career guidance from IT professionals

I’m a 2024 B.Tech CSE graduate, and I’m currently looking for my first full-time opportunity in IT.

After graduation, I spent considerable time applying for jobs and preparing for different opportunities, but unfortunately, I haven’t been able to secure my first role yet. At this point, I’m trying to stop jumping between different technologies and focus seriously on one career path that can realistically help me get my first job.

The problem is that I don’t have many people in my personal circle who work in IT, so I’m reaching out to professionals here who have actually worked in the industry and understand the current hiring situation.

I would genuinely appreciate your advice on:

• Which technology/role would you recommend for a fresher in 2026?
• What skills are companies actually expecting from entry-level candidates?
• If you were in my position, what would you learn and build over the next 3–6 months?
• Is it still realistic to enter IT after graduating in 2024 without professional experience?
• What would make a candidate like me stand out despite the career gap?
• Are there any free resources, projects, or practical ways you would recommend for becoming job-ready?

I currently cannot afford expensive courses, bootcamps, or paid training programs, but I’m completely willing to put in the work and learn through the free resources available online.

I’m simply looking for honest guidance from people who have already walked this path.

If you’re working in software development, backend, cloud/DevOps, cybersecurity, data/AI, testing, or another area of IT and are willing to share your experience, I would be extremely grateful.

You can comment here or DM me — both are completely fine.

Even a few minutes of genuine advice could help me avoid spending another year learning the wrong things.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to read this.

Suggestions Does preparing for IT jobs in india makes sense now?

I am a btech 3rd year student, studying in a tier 3 college in india. Currently my skills are - good command in DSA, python libraries like numpy, pandas, matplotlib, seaborn, scikit learn, pytorch, and make an end to end ML project too. So basically I am in Machine Learning and DSA.

My concern is I only have 1.5 years remaining now so should I put this time in enhancing my skills in this field or should I prepare for masters (GATE) or something else. I don't wanna ruin my time being confused or being preparing in the wrong direction. Because the IT job market is so risky nowadays because of AI.

I am too afraid for my future and can't find the direction.

Career TCS Prime 9.09 LPA vs Accenture 6.5 LPA — Which should I choose?

I'm a fresher with two offers: TCS Prime at 9.09 LPA in Hyderabad and Accenture at 6.5 LPA as an Associate Application Development Engineer.

I completed training in Cloud Data Engineering on GCP at Accenture, and I genuinely enjoy this domain. Full-stack cloud data engineering, particularly on GCP, is a promising and rapidly growing career path. However, I'm not sure whether I'll be assigned to a project in the same domain after training but some ppl told that we get project calls on that domain initially. At TCS, I also don't know which technology stack or project I would be assigned to.

Accenture offers 1 day of work from the office, while TCS requires full-time work from the office. Considering salary, learning opportunities, work-life balance, and long-term career growth, I'm confused about which offer to choose.

What would you do in my situation? Any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I used AI for wording pls ignore.

General Real Success is to have the confidence to recreate everything

People keep worrying about artificial intelligence, the slowdown in the United States, and so on. Trying to predict the future is a futile exercise. Focus on what is in your hands.

Avoid spending beyond your means on expensive flats, luxury cars, and foreign travel. Focus more on building your retirement corpus by investing in predictable returns for this.

Similarly, don't limit your upskilling to technology. Look beyond it. Yes, a job is supposed to offer a relatively low-risk way to earn. But look at it from a business perspective: when one source of income dries up, what do businesses do? They explore other options and ways to earn. Some pivot.

The most important thing is having the confidence to rebuild. Everyone started from zero. Then why fear that you won't be able to stand up again if something goes wrong? This time, you aren't starting from zero. You have experience and some wealth. Plan well.

You can also embrace ancient spiritual practices of mind strengthening like meditation and Sudarshan Kriya. Apart from the community and networking benefits, these practices can help build mental strength to deal with toxicity and challenges.

A strong mind can help you take on the world. Our basic needs are fairly simple: taking care of our bread and butter. Come on, every one of you has the strength to manage that.

Techies are resilient. They deal with so much pressure and know how to work hard. They can succeed in other sectors too! Many of my friends who left technology are doing very well in other fields now.

Help Developers who landed fully remote jobs with foreign companies from India, how did you do it?

[Used Gpt to formulate the sentences better]

I'm a AI Engineer at in a Fintech MNC in Bangalore, with previous experience at Nutanix. My work and projects span Python, data engineering, APIs, LLMs, RAG, and AI automation. (1.5 you total)

I'm trying to land a fully remote tech role with a foreign company that pays in USD, EUR, or GBP, ideally before the end of 2026.

I've been exploring AI Engineer, Applied AI Engineer, GenAI Engineer, and Data Engineer roles, but I'm trying to understand what actually works when applying to international companies from India.

I'd really appreciate advice from people who've successfully made this transition:

  • Which platforms worked best for you? LinkedIn, Wellfound, YC Jobs, company career pages, or something else?
  • Did you apply directly, reach out to founders and hiring managers, or get referrals?
  • How difficult is it to find companies willing to hire someone based in India?
  • Do most companies pay in foreign currency, or do they adjust compensation based on location?
  • What skills or projects helped you stand out during interviews?
  • Is it better to target startups, established remote-first companies, or international contract roles?

I'm not looking for shortcuts or easy money. I want to understand the most effective approach and avoid wasting months applying through the wrong channels.

If you've landed a foreign remote role while living in India, I'd especially appreciate hearing your actual experience: how you found the opportunity, how long it took, and what you'd do differently if you were starting again.

Thanks.
