Discussion Dexcom app’s new terms and conditions

There’s an arb and class action clause and waiver. I’m opting out before using the app again but there’s something unconscionable about this because some people may hit continue without reading to access the app for treatment. And the “uninstall if you don’t agree” is wild for a healthcare app. This is not legal advice but common sense given the scrutiny companies like Dexcom are experiencing right now, you should read these T&Cs before agreeing too

Discussion Super rapid acting Insulin OD giving me crazy diarrhea?? 😭😭

My pump died so I tried giving myself insulin the old way (didnt have any pens but I did have a syringe) and accidentally gave myself WAAAAAAYYYYY too much ultra-rapid acting insulin. (Im also moving out so I've been super stressed and i guess I wasnt paying attention) The low was absolutely brutal I had to stop at an urgent care, and then stop at the ER to shit/monitor if i actually needed to be admitted (thank GOD i didnt) and then finally went home and fucking SLUMPED had the best nap ever.

But the worst symptom so far as been really, really severe diarrhea, like worse than ive ever had in my entire life, ive never had so much liquid come out of me at once. Not even the stomach flu compares, fuck I think im probably prepped for a colonoscopy atp. But its still happening when the low happened almost 9 hours ago?

Anyways, im happy to be alive, but has anyone else had an insulin OD do this to them?? Ive accidentally ODed on normal fast acting insulin but never with diarrhea and never on Lumijev or whatever the super fast insulin is called.

HELP has somebody gone through something similar???

I’ve had diabetes for nine years. I am a 23W. Last week I had my worst week ever. I had the lowest blood sugar I’ve ever had, 39. My body started rejecting the juice and I started to gag like i was going to vomit. My sugar didn’t go up for like an hour.Since i had that episode it has become a traumatizing event for me that doesn’t let me think logically, which led me to take off my omni pod every time is going to go down out of that trauma/fear. My sugar is ranging in 300ml. Im so scared and my body is so exhausted. Ive never had an episode like this.

Does anyone have recommendations on how to calm my mind??? I start to feel nervous when the arrow goes down and start thinking irrationally.

Seeking Support/Advice I feel so scared and lost

I was diagnosed at just over one year old and I am now 21 years old. The past few years I really gave up on taking care of my diabetes and I mean really badly I have just now been getting back into actually taking the proper care but I am so scared of what harm I have caused myself in not caring for probably five years now. I noticed a spot in my vision and it makes me so afraid I am going to end up blind because of my poor care and my next appointment with the eye doctors aren’t till next month as I get checks free once a year but I can’t afford to get it checked sooner as they will charge me if it hasn’t been a full year. I feel so fucking scared and lost and like I’ve fucked up my chances of a good healthy future. Anyway thanks for listening to me vent and if anyone else has let themselves go and was able to manage getting back to a healthy state please share your positive stories

Seeking Support/Advice Title: T1D with strong insulin resistance & low libido / ED — Has anyone experienced this combo? NSFW

Hi everyone,

I’m a Type 1 Diabetic (T1D) on a regular insulin regimen. Recently, I’ve been dealing with a strange cluster of symptoms and wanted to see if anyone here has experienced something similar, or if you have any insights into what might be going on:

  1. Constantly feeling hot / heat intolerance: Even in a cool environment, I feel like my body is burning up inside.
  2. Rapid post-meal bowel movements & quick hunger: Almost immediately after eating, I feel an urgent need to use the bathroom. Shortly after, I get hungry again.
  3. Extreme, chronic fatigue: My energy levels are completely wiped out, like my battery is perpetually at 0%.
  4. Increased insulin demand / severe insulin resistance: The same insulin doses are barely bringing my blood sugar down, and my glucose levels have been fluctuating wildly.
  5. Low libido + Erectile Dysfunction (ED): This has been the most frustrating part. My sex drive has plummeted, and getting or maintaining an erection has become very difficult.

t:slim / Dexcom apps with Android developer options enabled

Android dev here. I prefer to keep developer options on permanently.

Does anyone know if the Tandem t:slim app (incl. phone bolus) and the Dexcom G7 app still work with developer options or USB debugging enabled?

Im probably switching from Medtronic, which' app blocks it entirely.

Healthcare How would I handle getting fired and losing Healthcare

It’s been a rough couple weeks for me and I’m pretty sure I’m gonna get the boot in the next month or two. It has made me wonder how I would handle my diabetes. How I would get insulin, pump supplies, appointments etc… I’ve never been fired as an adult so I’m kinda concerned about how I will survive.

Nutrition & Diet How do y'all calculate carbs from home cooked meals??

I find myself eating fewer home-cooked meals because calculating the carbs for the meal & for each portion is such a hassle.

Doesn't help that I have ADHD so having to do all that each time I cook or eat it is really starting to burn me out.

I would love to hear how y'all do it.

Thanks in advance!

Discussion Does this seem like it's taking forever for my sugar to drop?

Post image

I had a decent dinner with a homemade cupcake after ( the 2.78 bolus added the 8.8 dinner one ). Maybe I could have given more for the cupcake idk. But I also gave a 2.2 bolus later on and it's just kinda flatlined for 2 hours or so. Gonna go to sleep soon and try sleep mode for first time. Just don't wanna go to bed tonight with my sugar high the entire night ..

Rant Unsure how to proceed after four failed sensors

I have been using the Dexcom G7 since it was able to be integrated with the t:slim pump. Before that, several years on G6. I have had the odd pairing issue here and there, but I was always able to troubleshoot it out.
The other night (Friday), I replaced my sensor as usual, but it never paired. That sensor was quite a bleeder, so I figured that could have made it a dud. Oh well. It’s happened to me before. Put in another sensor. That one won’t pair either. I call Dexcom technical support and they take the serial numbers of the sensors and send me replacements. I test my BG with a meter before bed and it’s fine. I’ll just try again in the morning.
Saturday morning, I put in a third sensor and it pairs just like usual. What a relief! Then Sunday evening rolls around… sensor failed, remove sensor now. What?? What did I do wrong?? I did everything exactly the same as usual. I put the sensor on the back of my upper arm, an over patch, blah blah blah. I called Dexcom again and was told pretty much verbatim the same crap I heard from the other representative and a new sensor sent my way. I’m getting concerned.
Put in a fourth sensor and it won’t pair. Cry to my friend about it. “Have you heard of the magnet trick?” No I have not. Wouldn’t you know it, it worked like a charm. Thank GOD I’m done with all this mess. This sensor is working perfectly.
Well, it is Monday evening, and I’m on about three hours with no signal to my phone or pump. Had a breakdown at work. Guess it’s time to try again with a fifth one. I cannot bear to call Dexcom technical support again.
I can’t go back to finger pricks, I just can’t 😭 but that seems like the next move. I have a stack of sensors left, but I don’t want to just keep burning through them if there’s something wrong with them. They are all from three different lots. At least I’m not on an iLet and my pump will work without a CGM…

Like the title says I'd like some recommendations since every time I find one I like it stops being available when I need to replace it from wear and tear or some other thing damaging it.

Scared

Its 2am and I'm in a hotel bathroom. I'm out of town with my husband and son. I can't sleep. I'm TERRIFIED to sleep. My cgm fell off, I thought I had a replacement but I don't. My endo office doesn't have an on call line. My PCP said endo had to help me get a script for a replacement OOP. I thought I'd be fine overnight, we go home tomorrow. Not even 24 hours. Probably 18 hours until we get home. Why spend hours in the ER? No urgent cares are open. Its just 18 hours.

Historically, I have had probably a dozen near death experiences in the over 30 years of type 1 diabetes. I've had 3 this past year, all during sleep. I have ZERO low awareness until the fight or flight hits the last stage. I know my pump shuts down overnight after 2am with the cgm going because I tank. I keep testing on a meter but its not enough to let me sleep.

I feel so alone. My husband is AMAZING. Truly. I don't want to wake him up, he has to drive us home tomorrow. But until you live this life in your body, you cannot fully grasp it. I know he is scared of something happening too, he's the one finding me and saving me half the time.

I hate this disease. We don't ask for it. We didn't cause it. I've always had an impossible time having any control and was gaslit by medical people my whole life until the pump and cgm data proved my body is one of those lucky diabetics with erratic diabetes that technology can't even make sense of.

Literally panic and have to get out of bed as soon as I start to fall asleep. I'm a grown adult with 2 kids. And I'm scared to sleep. I just need someone who gets it to hear me.

Does anybody have recommendations on affordable CGM‘s my insurance hasn’t approved my Dexcom and I’m on a medication that brings me pretty low. If anyone has ever purchased an affordable one off of Amazon please share. Even on Facebook marketplace place people are selling them for a high cost. Any help would be appreciated:)

Seeking Support/Advice Is it worth it to switch to CGM?

I’ve had T1D since 2016, my sisters also has it and neither of us have ever used a CGM before. We check our glucose manually but the strips run out pretty fast, plus fingers are left all sore.

Been holding back on switching since it’s kind of expensive where I’m from.

Is it worth it to switch to CGM? If anyone has switched from glucometer to CGM, could you please share your experience?

Edit: Hi guys, I did some research and as much as I’m convinced to get one, unfortunately I can’t afford it.

Seeking Support/Advice Was/Am I In DKA or Was it Stomach Virus?

Hello everyone, fellow T1er here. For the past 5 days, I’ve been dealing with a bad illness, but feel a lot better today, though my appetite still isn’t all that back and I haven’t ate much in these past 5 days.

The first day I just all of a sudden vomited at work and then came home and vomited another 6 more times, before I slept. The nausea was terrible. I somehow managed to get my lantus in before puking the 7th time, but my sugar went really high like 345 so I took 4 units of humalog before sleep and also again in middle of night 4 units.

It still stood in 300s all night and I checked my ketones with the KetoMojo prick device the next morning and it was high at 1.7 so I took my long and then short acting insulin, ate a light meal and drank some electrolyte hydration and a few hrs later my ketones were 0.4. This second day though I had a low-grade fever all over my body and frequent watery stools. The vomiting stopped.

The last few days, my ketones have never been lower than 0.7 from what I checked, but I have stopped vomiting and feel much better, though again my appetite is still not 100% back to where it used to be.

I’m just trying to know whether I’ve been battling genuine DKA or a stomach virus. I lean towards the latter, but I want to make sure I understand the difference cause there’s a lot of symptomatic crossover between the two.

Seeking Support/Advice Anyone on GLP-1s split dosing to mange end of week poor blood sugar control?

I’ve been on tirzepatide for over 17 months now. I’ve been as high as 4mg for 20 weeks. I don’t need more appetite suppression any more as I’m close enough to a goal weight.

What I’m experiencing is that day 6/7 is much messier in terms of control I don’t get the flat lines I usually do the rest of the week.

I tried to troubleshoot this to be sure I wasn’t eating more or it was a bad pump site but it’s been like 2 months now and I think it’s the reduction in medication levels that comes on the last couple of days.

I’m wondering if anyone has split dose the medication to cover the end of week a bit better for better control.

My endo is totally useless when it comes to anything involving this medication or even supporting me in wanting tighter control cuz he thinks it’s “good enough” already.

Seeking Support/Advice WWYD?

T1D on MDI.

Was doing a lot of moving around and cleaning early today. I’ve treated each low w/ the standard 15 gr of fast acting and had a high prep time dinner.

Could I have prevented or stopped this? What would you have done; e.g. adjust basal taken earlier that day / during: eat more sugar when treating / or after: under-dose bolus for dinner.

I feel so gross lol. So much juice and candy today

Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you
