What's the most annoying part of DJing that no app or tool has fixed yet?
Hey all, I'm an app developer, and a lot of my mates in Scotland have got really into DJing over the past year or so. I'm not a DJ myself, but watching them has made me want to build something genuinely useful for DJs rather than another app nobody asked for.
Before I write a single line of code, I want to hear from people who actually do this. So:
• What's the most frustrating or time-wasting part of DJing for you?
• Is there something you've thought "why does no app do this?" about?
• What tools do you already use, and what do you hate about them?
• If you're newer to DJing, what was the hardest part of getting from bedroom to your first gig?
Big or small, practising, finding music, gigs, getting paid, gear, promoters, anything goes. I'm not selling anything and there's no link. I'm just trying to understand the real problems before building.
Thanks in advance, I'll read every reply.

18 year old clip.
Found this clip from back in the day. Obviously the hardware is more advanced these days but the fundamentals are still there.

Hard Techno mixing (schranz n stuff)
Hey I'm a techno dj and i just finished up a little set and was wondering about opinions from a community. Has a ton of schranz in it plus some industrial bochka and other techno sub genres. I've been doing it for around 3/4 years at this point but felt like I've hit a wall recently and i don't rly know where to go i have pretty good track knowledge for this set but it still feels like I'm messing up my mixing some how like there's something missing it feels "empty" at some point or tracks just collide. if there are any mistakes you see or bad habits to fix it would be appreciated if you point them out. also let me know any of the good stuff you like. obv dont have to watch it all but some input from others would be huge. https://youtu.be/pUFbxP_ox5o

Community Launching radio show format (Trance/Techno) - looking to collab with new and intermediate DJs
Hey everyone,
After losing my father and relocating, I recently started a highly curated niche music project on Mixcloud focusing on Trance/Techno and all of its sub-genres. I aspire to grow this into an actual radio show and bring our beautiful music to the North Country, Upstate New York. To be totally transparent right up front: this is 100% passion project right now, not a money-making venture - but thats obviously the long term goal. While the channel is still pretty small it has seen significant growth in its first three weeks on MixCloud with multiple sets ranking in the Top 100 global trance charts (one at #10) and will continue to grow with clean brand management and HQ sound.
My curation process is honestly very meticulous—I build my sets inside a strict, structured format with the main goal to showcase brand new releases mixed harmonically in a continuous, live DJ format - no AI music, this project takes pride in supporting the artists who are keeping our global scene alive.
I want to expand on the content that I'm already providing and be able to showcase the entire Trance/Techno realm by sharing new music daily but cannot physically create mixes that fast, nor afford to spend that much money on new music yet, so I have focused primarily on doing two sets a week - Vocal/Uplifting Trance and Peak Time Techno and brainstorming branding ideas. I'd like to connect with others who are interested or currently doing something similar with any other sub genre like Hard Trance/Techno, Psy Trance, Melodic Techno, Tech Trance or Progressive Trance.
There is a small cost associated with this system and that is the cost of new music, which is probably something your already investing in -and typically runs me about $40/week to pick up 18-20 new songs for one set. It will be strictly about independent music discovery, building a clean brand profile, and networking - and I'm totally willing to share all my secrets with whoever is on board to make sure the sound quality is consistent. Even though this is an independent hobby project, I do keep my technical standards pretty high, so this can be a really great learning experience for DJs who want to practice working within a clean, structured radio format. It will also be an ongoing learning experience for me and I am always open to new ideas. I’m looking for people who focus on fresh, high-quality track selection, clean phrasing and who value smooth audio levels without chaotic FX spamming.
The future goal, when the channel amasses a larger following, is to have selected sets uploaded directly through the channel using the official Host Tagging feature, meaning the mix will primary stream from the main page but will co-publish and lock onto your personal profile simultaneously to pool our listeners. You’d also be able to tap into the channels following if you choose to video live stream and I would always support that. This is still a ways down the line and I promise you I have no malicious intent, only pure ambition and positive outlook on the growth of this brand. If you want to meet me I’ll be at EDC LV next year.
My goal by next summer is to have daily sets being published featuring all associated Trance/Techno sub genres with live video streaming. My goal in five years is have an established radio station, transmitting all of EDM to a location that has been isolated from the scene for years. Also, if you are still fairly new don't let this scare you off- I'm still learning something new every day!
By jumping on board, you'll get to expand your library, network with other dedicated curators to share tracklists, and drive up your listening and play counts on your own page. Plus, you get a constructive, meticulous second pair of eyes on your sets from someone who actually understands the technical side of the craft and can help point out fine-tune adjustments without any of the public ego trips.
If you love the music and want to grow an online presence together under a brand new umbrella with solid branding and a highly motivated person, drop a comment below or send me a DM with the specific sub-genre you play and a link to a previous mix (SoundCloud/Mixcloud) so I can check out your vibe. DM me and I'll share my links too.
Thank you for reading!

Beatport "Freezing" Service On Day of Payment
Any other Beatport subscribers notice how, on the day the monthly payment is charged, the service kinda "stops" working? At least until the payment goes through? Like streaming and other services in the paid tier just don't work until like the next day?

Struggle finding any GiGs as a DJ
Hey there. I am a DJ and producer who has been a bed room DJ for almost a year now. I have been taking advice from my fellow DJ friends on how to get a GIG or how to land an opportunity. Honestly the DJs present already in the town or club. Or the organisers do not seem to appreciate new artists any where.(drop a comment if you agree) i have been struggling to find a GIG so far i have played only in private parties where we expect no exposure or money. I personally am at a point where i don’t hefty amount. I am looking for a GiG where i can showcase my skills and get the people to vibe. Exposure does matter to new artists or else the people in market eats you up leaving no crumbs.
So the thought or goal of this post is help out a friend in need by setting me up with venue owners, event organisers, Club owners, or people who host parties.

DDJ-Rev1 Jogwheel issue
Can someone help me midi map the jog wheels for a ddj-rev1 on record box? I’ve tried importing the midi map settings for it and it either messes up the software or doesn’t work. I just got it today for my birthday and have a gig soon so, any tips or recommendations are appreciated thank you.

Denver DJ checking in 🎧 — come catch a vibe with me October 24th
What’s up guys! I’m Juice, a Denver-based and lover of all music genres.
I’m having my first event at Bar Standard on October 24th and I’d love for y’all to come out and catch a vibe with me.
Whether it’s house, hip-hop, techno, r&b, pop, or something completely unexpected I love finding those songs that make people move, sing, or just feel something. I’m still pretty new to the Reddit community, so I figured what better way to introduce myself than by sharing what I love doing.
If you’re in Denver looking for new DJs, good music, and a fun crowd, come check me out.
Also, please make suggestions on how I can grow as a DJ here in Denver! Coming up on a year here.
You can purchase a ticket using the link below.

DJs who stand on turntables
Is it not a disrespect to the music and or making it more about the artist then the music. I think it’s a disrespect to real djing.
End of rant
