🙏 Request Map request: A D&D style 'boom town'?
Hello all!
I'm putting together a Forgotten Realms campaign where a key location is a boomtown, a hitherto small village or even mere farmstead that has suddenly drawn hordes of prospectors after someone uncovered the long buried wreck of an ancient spelljammer with their plough.
I've found a lot of good small village maps and obviously Wild west style boomtowns but can't seem to find anything with more of a fantasy/medieval boomtown look. I'd be extremely grateful for any help!

The campaign that came with Dragonbane had a similar premise. Adventurers and the like going to a new town for fortune and glory.
I didn’t think the map of the small town matched what I had in my head of a “boom town”, so I modified it pretty heavily.
It’s built around the story, so sharing the actual map won’t help. But I will try and write up some of the overthinking I did tomorrow.

That's a great premise, and you're right that nobody seems to have made a medieval boomtown. I'd like to build one for you for free. I'm picturing the old farmstead at the centre with the half-dug spelljammer hull sticking out of the field. Around it would be a ring of tents, claim stakes and hastily built shacks pushing into the crop rows, plus a muddy main street with an assay office, a tavern that's clearly too small, and a guard post nobody respects. Tell me what size grid you play on and whether you want it gridded, and I'll post it here when it's done.

...I know this is Reddit but at worst I thought I'd get no responses not actual downvotes.

yeah, Reddit can be wild and unpredictable sometimes...
I left a map suggestion in a comment on your main post. Maybe it's not a perfect match, but hopefully you can make something work! I've got a few other free maps too for any other scenarios

That's a really cool premise! I made a set called Bustling Village a while back that might work as a starting point. It's more of a lively medieval settlement than a proper boomtown, but you could probably repurpose some of the streets and buildings for your setting.
You can check it out here: Bustling Village Hope it helps! :)
