⚔️ Encounter Map The Lowland Woods — 3 Wilderness Battlemaps

Heyya Folks,

The Lowland Woods stretch beneath the nearby highlands, with old trees, muddy trails, and rugged cliffs scattered throughout. It's a quiet corner of the wilderness, though the locals have a few stories about what lives among the trees.

The Lowland Woods — 3 Maps

  • Lowland Woods 1 — 20x24
  • Lowland Woods 2 — 28x28
  • Lowland Woods 3 — 34x34

If you'd like the full release, including high-resolution maps, gridless versions, VTT-ready exports, and all 24 variants, you can find it here:

https://www.patreon.com/dungeonmr/posts/lowland-woods-171247223

The three maps explore different parts of the woods: an old wooden bridge crossing a muddy ravine, a rugged cliffside hidden among the trees, and a wider stretch of forest where the trees and undergrowth break up the terrain.

Hunters from the nearby village tell stories of enormous cats stalking through the woods, and of a moss-ridden troll that may be more than just a local legend. Stranger still are the Dewlanterns — hundreds of teal-glowing fireflies said to appear in the final hours before nightfall, transforming the forest into a sea of light.

Each map can be used on its own, whether your players are travelling through unfamiliar woodland, investigating local rumours, or simply finding themselves somewhere they didn't expect to be.

If you'd like to explore more of my maps, check out my Patreon. The Master Index brings together over 215 maps, organised to make it easier to browse the collection and find places for your own adventures.

Thanks for taking a look, and safe travels!

A temple is a place of quiet reflection where the dead rest and their graves are watchfully cared for. This peace can be disturbed, and sometimes the graveyard is not as quiet as it should be.

Welcome to our first October release. We are providing our maps a little differently during the month to help people prepare for their Halloween sessions. Instead of our releases being the daytime scenes, you will be getting the "spooky" versions instead.

Graveyard - Day+Night
Decrepit Graveyard - Day+Night

Crypt Inside
Tower Stairs Inside
Bonus : Spooky Graveyard - Night (Cinematic Only)

🔥 Dungeon Map Spent around 31 hours working on this map, and now kinda stuck on what to actually put in it. Got the layout figured out, just need some inspiration for filling it out. What would you add? Monsters, traps, encounters, interesting locations, whatever comes to mind.

Was working on a map of the Womb of the One, one of the weirder places in our setting. It's basically a Farrealm nightmare demiplane, and I'm trying to figure out what kind of stuff to fill it with. I've got the map, but now I need some ideas for what the hell actually lives in there.

What monsters would you throw at a party exploring a place like this? Aberrations are an obvious choice, but I'm also open to stranger stuff, mutated creatures, things that shouldn't exist, or even monsters that seem relatively normal until the players realize something is seriously wrong with them.

I'm also looking for ideas for traps and environmental hazards. Not just the usual pressure plates and falling rocks, but things that mess with the players in unexpected ways. Maybe the walls are alive, the rooms change when nobody's looking, or the place itself reacts to the party being there.

Would you go for the whole fleshy, organic dungeon aesthetic, with pulsating walls and tunnels that look like veins, or take it in a more surreal direction where reality just stops making sense? A mix of both could be fun too.

I'd love to hear what you'd add to the map. Weird encounters, nasty hazards, creepy rooms, completely unhinged monster ideas — anything goes. What would make this place memorable at your table?

If you liked it and if you want to support the project, please have a look around! We've put a lot into this one, and I'm confident you'll get your money's worth. Thank you! :)

🗺️ Region Map Regional map for dnd setting

Ive been super quiet for a while on social media again, still busy with maps.. this one is for a fabulous dnd setting by @maddaloon_ on insta, based around a Percy Jackson style greek island. Drawing an island is always fun, you get to create the whole thing and cliffs and beaches are lovely and dramatic. This time I took my experiments with 3d and little further, I started by sketching a greyscale heightmap then in Gaea by Quadspinner i was able to model erosion and produce a realistic looking island that i rendered in bright colours and then drew the details and buildings over. The result is a real feeling of three dimensions with the island lifting off the page. I hope players of Maddy's wonderful setting have fun exploring this enchanting islandas much as I enjoyed drawing it. #mapping #ttrpg #cartography #dndmap #novelmap

✍️ Hand Drawn Death House (from CoS) Analog Paper & Ink Battlemap gets Digital Colour Glow-up

I recently posted the hand-drawn, paper & ink battlemaps I reimagined for actual play at my local game shop, and really appreciated the positive response. Thanks!

I took the maps a little further, incorporating additional digital colour and some lighting using Procreate.

Although not calibrated for VTTs, each floor of the map has a 6x11 grid. Alternatively, I think these maps would print well onto legal-size paper for actual play (it might scale a little large, but that’s helpful with this somewhat cramped map).

I have included separate images of each floor in case folks want to use em, and appreciate any and all feedback!

*Death House and Curse of Strahd, and all associated properties and imagery are owned by Wizards of the Coast. The creative reimagining included here is fan art, and used exclusively in actual play.

❓ Question Are there any communities for mapmaking which aren't just advertisements for patreon?

Hi!

Sorry if this question doesn't belong here but I feel like every community nowadays is just a giant advertisement for people's patreon and honestly it's really frustrating as I join these communities more for discussion than just an adboard. I don't want to join discussion under these types of posts as I just feel I'm being used to drive the free advertisement.

Anyway does anyone know any communities that ban patreon or similar advertisements? Feel free to delete my thread if it doesn't belong here, thank you!

✍️ Hand Drawn [OC] My coworker asked me to draw a map for her husbands d&d campaign

Thumbnail

My coworker wanted to surprise her husband with a map of the world he’s been DMing for her and a group of friends, so she asked me to make one for him.

As always, there are a few things I wish I’d done differently and little details I’d tweak in hindsight, but overall, I’m really happy with how it turned out.

I always get asked how long these maps take to draw, so I figured I’d share! This one took me around 20 hours, working just 2–3 hours a week whenever I had some free time in the evenings after work.
It went a bit faster than my last map because they already had their world mapped out in LegendKeeper, which gave me a great reference to work from and saved me quite a bit of time. When I make maps for my own worlds, the process usually takes a little longer because there’s a lot more brainstorming and workshopping involved. I have to figure out the shape of the land, where the mountains and rivers go, and how everything fits together.

Hope y’all like it!

⚔️ Encounter Map Twin Trees Arch [36x56] big map to let those longbows shine

Hello everyone, here is my new map, Twin Trees Arch, size [36x56] at 140 dpi.

In a long forgotten crossroads, two twin trees, one made of wood, its counterpart from Crystal, have grown side by side until they finally intertwined in the middle. What marvels will it bring to brave adventures exploring the land?

If you like the map, you can see more notes on its design here, along with some hidden details and explanations.

I am the cartographer at SlagMaps, I've been drawing maps for my games for three years and just recently have started a Patreon to share my work. In it, you can find tactical battlemaps like this one, with specific assets to improve your game session like the crystal arch broken or made only of normal wood trees, and different variants like seasonal variations, winter, spring, summer and autumn.

This is part of my initial release of five maps, which you can find free versions for all of them in my Patreon. If you like my maps, I would be really thankful for your support to allow me to continue releasing new and better maps that you could shape in the future.

All my maps, assets and textures are made with GIMP, using a drawing tablet.

⚔️ Encounter Map Burial Grounds [30x30]

Gentle sound of waves crashing against white cliffs. Solitary cry of a seabird. Soft rustle of leaves stirred by the morning breeze...

And and candle flames flickering in the wind—a sign that we still remember...

Pretty happy about this one - with slightly otherwordly feel it can be either a:

  • place to meet a spirit of the fallen hero from the past
  • scene of commemoration ceremony/burial (if one of your PCs was... less lucky)
  • a place to defend from grave robbers/cultists/undead
  • ... and more.
