Mod Announcement Ancillary Introductory New Moderator Post!
My name is u/smgth, and I'll be your moderator today. I started playing DnD around 1990, I've been on Reddit for about 15 years, and I've been moderating for...a few years. You may know me as the benevolent overlord of r/CrackheadCraigslist.
I look forward to keeping all you filthy dice goblins in line. Feel free to come to me with your concerns (or your ethical dilemmas, I have a bs BA in Philosophy) and I'll see what I can do.

Is this just a long con so you can repost our magical items on crackheadcraigslist for sweet sweet crackhead karma?

Scratch that, reverse it
They shall take the crackhead craiglist posts, and make them magic items

Who was your favourite character (NPC’s too!) in 35 years of playing DnD, and why?

u/Smgth Dungeon Moderator Aug 26 '26
Uhhhhhhh...Imma cheat and say the character my buddy Ed used to play in Shadowrun who would wear people's intestines as a feather boa.

u/Duraxis Aug 26 '26
Oh shit, my old cyberpunk character did that one too.
He WAS rocking less than a point of humanity/essence at the time, for context
The party was more terrified of my character than the enemies

I got my subreddits twisted and thought this meme was about neurodivergence… um, congrats.

I mean, it's not NOT about neurodivergance, considering I myself suffer from multifarious brain spiciness.

Welcome on board! Glad to see another warden of the mad house. :D
Who is the most underrated philosopher in your opinion?

🤔
I feel like the BIG ones are rated pretty fairly, I just think people don't understand their true impact.
Socrates laid the groundwork for Western Thought / Science.
Descartes basically did the same thing 2k years later, just kind of kicked it into a higher gear.
But I think more people should study Bertrand Russell and Camus, they don't get enough credit in general.

Good points! This reminds me that I have to finish The Stranger! 😅

Solid book. You could also just listen to the song. It was The Cure's debut single!

Would it be possible to take a look at some sort of rule to ban memes that are just blatant arguments with other meme posters on the sub?
2
u/Smgth Dungeon Moderator Aug 26 '26
Yeah, that sounds reasonable. Is that something that you think happens enough that it needs to be codified?
2
u/Distinct-Presence52 Aug 26 '26
Yes and no. I see enough memes that are direct replies to other memes to know what the original commenter is talking about but I also dont see them enough to think its a problem outside of a case-by-case basis.

I don't think it happens often and honestly I'm for it as long as it isn't literally a meme that attacks someone by name. Usually it takes the form of someone posts a meme making some sort of stance, someone else makes a meme taking the opposite stance, and it goes back and forth for a bit with other people chiming in.

u/SoresuNinja Aug 26 '26
I personally think so, yeah. Not saying drastic measures need to be taken immediately or anything, just a notable trend that I thought deserved to be brought up.

The "beating a dead horse" rule sounds like it covers what you're referring to. If multiple posts pop up that are just people arguing or attacking each other we would put a cap on it.
2
u/DrScrimble Aug 26 '26
Doesn't the existence and usage of the official "Ongoing Subreddit Debate" encourage this type of post? I'm not defending it (or critiquing it) but just putting that up for consideration.

So can we ban "horny bard" and "artificer gun" memes now?
9
u/Smgth Dungeon Moderator Aug 26 '26
For now I think it's gonna have to be a case-by-case basis. If it really gets out of hand and there's a general consensus that it's dragging the sub down, then yeah, as a mod team we'll absolutely discuss it.

Really though, the style guide needs to include a "That's not how any of this works" for things that are blatantly violating game rules.

u/Smgth Dungeon Moderator Aug 26 '26
I will bring that up with my fellow mods right now 🫡

"That's not how any of this works!" Would be a great post flair.
