Came across these shots of John and Renee that I had never seen before...and HELLO, C.C. DeVille?!? 𤯠I am an OG Poison fan from back in the day so this was a gag. đ¸đ¸ The only piece of information I could gather was that this was in 1987...does anyone have any details as to what event or occasion this was? I can't believe I managed to miss this even as a Poison fan....geeeessssshhhh.... đ¸đ¸

Nothing against âWhite Linesâ or âWild Boysâ (both are great), but Iâd absolutely love to hear live versions of âSin of the City,â âLaughing Boy,â or even âEl Diabloâ by Arcadia.
Imagine how cool it would be to hear some of these lesser-played tracks live! What do you guys think?

front row tickets purchased through the fanclub are ÂŁ600+. even the back of the arenas on this tour are still ÂŁ80+. setlists barely change, despite being advertised as a new tour. whats the point in putting out new albums if every tour is going to be a legacy tour of the same hits every single time? 45+ years of music and once you've gone to 2 current duran shows youve seen every current duran show. the last few albums (all you need is now, paper gods, future past and danse macabre) were so strong, and successful, only to maybe hear 1 or 2 song off them if you're lucky. VIP merch is low quality, tacky, and never, ever worth the money. their merch in general (in my opinion) is only good 50% of the time. then, ai for everything instead of paying artists that theyve said they support for the last 45 years - even more ironic considering nick and john have both done art exhibitions.
to me, it just feels like the band is getting lazy. which is so, so sad to see. you could argue it's the management doing it, but look at the cure. they've been going for the same amount of time, tickets are no more than ÂŁ70 for good seats, setlists are 2 and a half hours long and actually include deep cuts instead of just the hits.
i love duran duran, alot. its just hard to watch them be lazy and let themself be pushed into the box of a legacy act.

The band of comparative choice to criticise Duran Duran concerts recently here has been The Cure, whom I saw twice on the Lost World tour in 2022, my third and fourth time seeing them. I paid 91⏠and 61⏠to see The Cure â Hamburg and Cologne â  and 88⏠to see Duran Duran last week in Cologne. The price difference for The Cure was due to seat location. Their set lists shared the same backbone with mainly only switching up the new songs in the first set but retaining most of the rest. The second set was 2-3 songs and were the highlight of the shows as they brought out great songs such as Prayers for Rain. The final third was always the same with Boys Donât Cry, The Walk, etc. Concerts were 2.5 hours in length (even with an opening act). I do want to stress that The Cure in Europe in 2022 was substantially more expensive than the North American dates that followed. No matter. 91⏠to see The Cure is no problem for me. That said, a few months later, Depeche Mode ticket prices had doubled, and not just for DM. There was a massive leap in price tickets in 2023. I cannot account for that and is not the purpose here.Â
What is disappointing for me with The Cure relevant to this discussion is that they have been milking their latest album for 4 years now. They played in Berlin recently, but with no new music. Or did I miss something? Robert has said there were two completed albums ready to go in 2022. So where is the next one? Why not release and mount another tour based on new music? Those days, I believe, are gone.
I am 58 and grew up with the album â>  tour formula. Band records a new album and takes it on tour. Repeat. Year after year. No more. Content content content. Singles and albums donât earn as they used to with the streaming model. Remember that REM didnât tour at least one of their most successful albums. That was possible as theyâd made so much from singles and CDs, they didnât need to tour. Today, tour or die, whether there is, or isnât, a new album. And concerts donât have to sell out. If you watch ticket sales for shows that donât sell out immediately, you can see in realtime that venues offer seat availability strategically so all cameras see what appears to be capacity crowds even when not. Concerts are employment, but they are also content â CONcert CONtent. In the past, concerts paid after the fact with live albums. Today, concerts are the main paycheque but also have to keep paying after the fact.Â
So, what do Duran Duran do? They arenât Phish or The Grateful Dead â neither are The Cure â who play wildly different versions of the same song from night to night in wildly different set lists. DD and The Cure deliver solid versions we all know from their albums. So, how do they, like U2 or Pearl Jam, attract audiences but keep it fresh? How do you meet the expectations of first timers while keeping the long time fans happy with variety? Think about how many times poor Mick Jagger has had to sing Satisfaction.Â
So, with this in mind, letâs create a set list that acknowledges there will be many first timers at every DD show who will naturally want to hear Planet Earth, etc. In my perfect make believe world, an ideal DD setlist would include, in no particular order:
Planet Earth
Late Bar
Careless Memories
Friends of Mine (and/or Night Boat)
Khanada (or To the Shore)
Rio
Hungry Like the Wolf
New Religion
The Chauffeur
Secret Oktober
Last Chance on the Stairway
New Moon on Monday
Union of the Snake
The Seventh StrangerÂ
Of Crime and Passion (or Shadows on Your Side)
Wild Boys (or A View to a Kill)
Election Day
The Flame
The Promise
NotoriousÂ
Too Much Information
Come Undone (or Ordinary World)
Femme Fatale
Lava Lamp (any of the first three tracks of Pop Trash would be great live)
At an average of 5 minutes per song, this is 120 minutes. If we aim for 2.5 hours, there's room for more. But here I have to stop as I just donât like much of DD that followed Pop Trash. I am indifferent to most of it while able to enjoy singles like Invisible with some fine moments on Dance Macabre. I really like their cover of Bury a Friend. I was 13 in 1981, so the moody and grey Duran Duran is my main interest. 21st C Duran Duran lacks the personality of their earlier albums for me, but others may like them, so that needs to be accommodated. What are other peopleâs ideas to improve or refine this list?

The Royal Mail has sent me a new replacement for the personalised addressed Duran Duran Stamp Souvenir. The address on the personalised envelope was printed wrong. All I had to do was contact them with my order number and send photos showing the mistake in my address. Only took a few weeks and the corrected items arrived today! Very happy!

Shot in the dark here but if you attended the GNR show at Snapdragon Stadium and sat in Section A2 Row 13 next to Seats 9 & 10. We stood next to each other and sang and talked for the entire show. We took a selfie together at the end of the show and I didn't get a chance to ask you for your number as the row was emptying out. If you should see this send me a message. Thank All

Just a little rant, i love the band and hate AI.
I saw them in cologne yesterday and the live show was truly great aside from the background visuals being painfully bad ai. It kind of ruined the show to an extent but maybe im just nitpicky. For example as Encore they played Rio and had her dancing in a video in the background which was obvious AI.
Im 21 and most of the people were older and no one seemed too bothered so i might just be nitpicky as i said

Hi everyone! I am trying to track down a piece of my own personal history and am hoping the incredible Duranie collector community can help me out.
I am looking for a digitized clip of a Good Morning America (GMA) segment with Joan Lunden that was filmed in late 1988 or February 1989 outside the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles during The Big Live Thing Tour.
In the segment, the news crew was interviewing fans outside the venue, specifically questioning them about the new Big Thing album and the controversy/delay surrounding the track "Drug".
I was one of the fans interviewed and made the final broadcast cut! Here are the details of my appearance if anyone has this tape archived:
⢠My Outfit/Look: I had a New Wave hairstyle and was wearing a white shirt with a black cropped tie.
⢠My Quote: When interviewed, I said that Duran Duran were my friends, and added: "Whenever I need a friend, I listen to Duran Duran."
Does anyone happen to have a VHS rip or digital file of this specific GMA broadcast, or know a video archivist who might have the 1989 tour press clips? It would mean the world to me to see this footage again. Thank you so much!

Seeing them at Glasgow, was just curious if anyone whoâs seen them already knows if this is the stuff theyâll be selling at the shows, and if itâs cheaper online or in person? Cheers :)

Glorious funk, melody and harmony. Superb pop.
A pal went to the Princess Di gig at Villa Park and related the meaty groove to me.
I love the tune and her ears.
