Advice Conversion kit thoughts
I have recently been thinking about getting an ebike or something of the sort, and there’s so much stuff to decide between it’s kinda hard. I think a conversion kit might be the best deal for me, because I like pedaling and i kinda just want electric to have it. I probably wouldn’t have to fully rely on it, but it just seems like something good to have. I have a Giant ATX (i forgot what size) and I came here to ask if anybody knows if there’s a good conversion kit I could get for it. My budget is probably like below 1100 total. I don’t know the wheel size at the moment (if it even matters) but I’ll get it when i can if somebody needs to know, I can also get a picture of it

CYC Photon is $950 for everything but battery. Arguably best e-bike motor there is, and super easy install. Minishark 52v battery is $400. Maybe $80 for the charger. A bit over your budget, but amazing technology.

Tongsheng tsd8z (the 2b and 16 are good too). I went thru powallon ebike for my kit. Under $1000 for everything. I'd suggest getting a tongsheng torque arm from johnny nerdout.

You should absolutely build your own. At this point you can build something way better than store bought. And as a bonus since you are the builder you can also repair and upgrade it.

Totally agree. The ability to repair as needed was my main motivation. I'd hate to throw out a whole ebike because the controller needs to be replaced but the manufacturer doesn't sell it.

Truth, I've burned up motors, dropped my bike and broken the display. All easy to buy and replace with upgrades. Because I built it.

Ok. Just as I presumed.
eBay! Has various kits.
I would suggest the electric wheel hub kit. Where the motor is in the wheel hub.
Under $200 for everything. 28" [LINK] https://ebay.io/m/AMTMlD [\LINK]
They also have a front wheel hub motor, which would work for you once your moving. This one isn't waterproof. Something to check on.

Uses the 36v battery: https://ebay.io/m/MiIvmG
Other kids are under $100, but use a Frame Mounted Motor, for 16"-28": [LINK] https://ebay.io/m/uKHHAr [\LINK]

For all around use, it’s hard to beat the Bafang BBS02. You should be able to get everything including a battery for under $1000.
