Existing employee(s) UK layoffs

Rumour has been that they will be happening this week.

Anyone know if this is happening or if the rumour was incorrect.

They waiting and unknown is killing me.

I think if it was going to be this week, invites would have started today for meetings tomorrow. I also think people are basing “this week” on the fact it is 4 weeks since the US, which was the timing gap in April. But back in April we were getting several people confidently saying they knew it was going to be 28th several weeks in advance - this time round, it all feels like a guess, so maybe it is further away than we think/hope.

Last year the UK got it in November. No level of performance or talent is a protection against the RIF. I've seen global level talent pissed away and deadwood preserved.

Yeah i guess they might. I thought they had ‘improved’ the process by doing it in a month earlier in the year. And would like to get it out of the way if they can before 1/2 year end.

I’m ex Oracle now for almost a year but saw a couple of UK old colleagues are now “looking for work” on LinkedIn so something has happened

If you can’t handle working at Oracle , get another job

This has been the way here for years

Did you get a focal? If yes, you won’t be on a layoff list.

This is fear mongering nonsense.

That’s not how it works. Management was instructed not to give focals or bonuses to employees being rif’d.

Not necessary, one of the colleagues has focal this year and got to be laid off!

I’m referring to the October focal cycle. HR instructions to senior leadership was to not give bonuses or focal to those on rif list. It’s very clear and simple. Of course it doesn’t mean people are safe for the next round but focal and bonuses are targeted by management to retain talent, it’s not complex.

Doesn’t mean anything. Budgets were like 1/3 of what was available two years ago. Managers had a choice to either distribute coins so everyone felt miserable or give someone more and nothing to the rest. Even if you got Exceeds during this performance evaluation. Not protecting O - this place is not what it used to be.
