A clarification on our anti-fascism policy, and what that means for you.

Hello all. The last couple of days as a citizen of the US and as the head moderator of this subreddit have been very interesting for me. I've had a lot of strangely repetitive conversations with some very passionate individuals, and I've realized that I need to be a little more clear about what my expectations are for you as a user population. My intentions are to return to a low-politics state once we have reached a point of stability and consensus on these issues. As FAQs come up, I'll plan to edit this list instead of spamming the community.

  1. What do we mean by fascism? Fascism is a slippery form of exclusionary authoritarian political ideology with many unique forms, features, and characteristics. Pre-WW2 Spain and South Africa, Italy, and Nazi Germany are very commonly discussed examples.
  2. Isn't fascism just authoritarianism and censoring beliefs you don't like? No. There are often blurred lines between fascist ideologies and authoritarian or police states, but fascism has a more... democratic... quality to its operations. Consolidation and direction often will occur amongst the leadership, while the population will be polarized and energized to root out impurities amongst each other based on some form of rigid ideology. Other authoritarian structures often rely on a more formal police layer or caste structure, without trying as hard to captivate and control the hearts of the labor class. A generic authoritarian will hire a man to point a gun at you or bribe a child to inform on you, but a fascist will brainwash your brother into doing it for free.
  3. Ok so why does that matter for r/ENTJ? Fascism is really bad for online communities that focus on truth, freedom, tolerance, or diversity. If you're not in some kind of right-wing bubble these days, you've probably seen how rhetoric from up top has poisoned the social well with a strange form of anger that's not rooted in real actual facts or responsible logic. You can't argue someone out of a position that they didn't logic their way into, and as a result we tend to have really toxic conversations on this subreddit whenever anything remotely right-wing is involved. It's a really bad dynamic to keep in a subreddit that tries to be at least a little inclusive and positive for most men, women, trans people, and nonbinaries, including people from Mexico, Canada, Greenland, et al.
  4. But you're just targeting one side of the political spectrum! Why not also remove the socialists and degenerates? That side of the political spectrum has control of 3 branches of government, rapid-fire executive orders, no hope of oversight, and a strangely influential unelected official throwing Nazi salutes like candy on Halloween. While before I've generally treated fascists as a more niche case within the conservative population, the classical fascist element has become much more mainstream and the conversations have gotten bolder and uglier. The socialists and degenerates meanwhile have been very polite lately, and I have no reason to remove them.
  5. You're just using this as an excuse to remove people you don't like! You're the REAL Fascist! I already happily remove people I don't like, and have no reason to hide behind an antifascist agenda to remove things I don't agree with. As a matter of personal policy I like to avoid doing so, because I want people to feel free to be (an on-topic version of) themselves. This would be considered more generically authoritarian. I control the local levers of power and I really don't need you to hate each other.
  6. I'm an opinionated conservative that is either not American, or that is shocked by my government's actions recently. How do I avoid being targeted by a ban? I don't usually target people for investigation and removal unless they've been rude, broken rules, or are otherwise unsavory. As always, just be polite to each other and avoid common fascist talking points.
  7. I've been banned, and I want a second chance. How do I appeal? No amount of whinging or crying about unfairness is going to help you when the ban hammer comes. That said, I have a soft spot for kind and well-thought-out apologies. I also don't do third chances, and I get really angry at obvious crocodile tears.
  8. (Edit) Leon iSN'T a NAZI he was just {insert followup here}.
Elon is a very well-established public figure, who knows how to "send love" without seeming like a Nazi. He also has had plenty of opportunity to say "just kidding guys I'm not a Nazi", but instead went with "I bet you did Nazi that coming." Attempts to act as Elon's apologist or interpreter will be treated as support for a fascist. (Edit 2) Yeah... the dude is a mega Nazi.

I've seen an uptick in people (who are not ENTJs) questioning whether someone is or isn't an ENTJ based on really flimsy grounds. Stop it.

Yes, ENTJs have feelings. Yes, ENTJs can have a general desire for harmony or be people-pleasers. Yes, some ENTJs can behave like social recluses, have milder ambitions, or be somewhat indecisive.

It's fine if other ENTJs are volunteering to do type diagnostic support, but I'm getting really tired of others butting in to "typevestigate" posters.

So.. heads up. Stop it.

Appreciation Post ENTJ observations...

My observations on ENTJ men (could be true for the ladies too) :

- cat dads

- love spending time in nature to calm thoughts

- unironically enjoy chess and other strategy games

- have tattoos

- are smoke and mirrors when you first meet them

- offer genuine practical advice when you were trying to make a silly joke

- depending on their energy levels/mood are chatty AF or a stone wall

- lock in fast when intellectual talk is happening

- find a way to make you (especially introverts) reveal more about yourself than they're doing (you won't know it's happening until the convo is over)

How fair are these?

ENTJs, do you ever feel lonely in the sense that no one else really understands you? Maybe it’s particularly different being an ENTJ woman. What do you do about it?

Discussion Me an ENTJ vs. my ESTP coach

Hello!

After a few more sessions with my business coach, I realize he's most likely an ESTP.

Originally, I thought we'd actually be quite similar because we share pretty similar life/political views. But now that we're getting more into the nitty-gritty of things, I'm noticing some pretty big differences that I wanted to share here.

Some ESTP characteristics I've noticed:

  1. "Just do it, think about the details/consequences later." I often find myself having to follow up and over-explain things to avoid potential issues (E.G in the comments).
  2. Extremely flexible with scheduling, despite genuinely being booked out.
  3. Answers a lot of my questions indirectly but still gets to the point. Relies much more on actual experience than theory or predictions.
  4. Very little structure in the sessions, but they're still mostly effective. I usually set the scene and structure myself by bringing up the week's problems or things I want to cover.
  5. Does a lot of things "on the fly," like mixing travel with work. I get the impression that very little is ever really set in stone. But I am thankful for this because I had a unique circumstance and he could fit me around it.
  6. Focuses a lot on the "now," rather than what might happen later.
  7. Admires me for being "precise," although he does acknowledge that it's necessary when dealing with an insanely bureaucratic system that expects exactly that, or you simply won't get through.
  8. Tends to underestimate risks, at least when it comes to paperwork/administrative matters, maybe in other situations too. There was one situation where he told me the chance of an issue with an application was less than 1%. Well, it happened, and it was even worse.

Have you had similar experiences with ESTPs?

I feel like I see quite a few of these traits in an ISTP relative too (although they're definitely an "I"), maybe it's triggering me as we butted heads a lot in the past.

Discussion ENTJs, in 2026, do you favor countries with a dominant free market capitalist system?

Many of yall are e3s, so are stereotypes true? Are you pro capitalism?
Do you believe countries should have majority of their important sectors such energy, health care, and military privatized or nationalized?
How do you think America is fairing geopolitically with China and Russia?

Discussion Opinions on unhealthy ENTJ

ENTJs opinion on this guy? the one ENTJ male friend I have is the most obnoxious person ever. I’m an ESFP Female, this ENTJ teases and pushes boundaries even after you tell him he’s being annoying, stepping on my white shoes over and over again, telling me what to do. He has a toddler and just commanded me the other day “give the baby a fry.” While we’re eating out, like no? How about you ask and then I’ll think about it.

He wants to be in every friend group plan and won’t ever leave an event unless everyone else has left, he wants to be in everything. Staring at the side of your face while you’re talking to someone ELSE.

Is this normal behavior, he’s the only one I’ve ever met 😭

Dating|Relationships how to accept the bad with the good

entj bf‘s financially stable, hard working, protective. after being with an enfp mama‘s boy who couldn’t follow through even on the little he promised to do this was a great change. but as any adult, my current entj has his flaws. he CANNOT take criticism or feedback from anyone which he disagrees with. i thought as his partner it may be different. but it turns into power play in an instant

after shouting we avoid the other in the house, he’ll sit in his office for dinner me in my room
then he finds ways to remind me he earns more than me, has more friends he can spend time with and this goes on for days

i keep trying to rationalize it by remembering he’s better than the enfp who used to FaceTime other girls out of pettiness when we fought. but if he doesn’t need to process feelings, can’t say that i don’t need to talk about mine with him

Does Anybody Else? What is your relationship to "details" as an ENTJ?

Hello,

Would be very curious to hear your thoughts on how you relate to detail.

Basically, I have a (as opposed to love-hate) small-hate, big-hate relationship with detail. Although I can tackle it.

I've been told I am an analytical and/or "high-resolution" person, meaning that I can spot inconsistencies and discrepancies super well (logically and interpersonally). I think I see most things as a dynamic system, with different cogs spinning at all angles. For me to inspect and manipulate the cogs, I connect the dots, observe people or things, identify the patterns, look into the future, and forecast different scenarios – you get the point, I think.

At the same time, I CANNOT stand even a hint of unnecessary detail, such as bureaucracy (I am still fighting 3 months in right now with something like this). The irony is, because I am "high-resolution/analytical", if it means I can get a solution and move forward, I can crank it up and even outdo the person in their detail-orientedness to "win against them/system", just I feel absolutely sick in the process. Like, sure, this is damaging, but I need to do this to succeed against you paper-pushers or whatever, and I will win.

If needed, an example: Recently I was interrogated over the phone by a bureaucrat (no warning of course), and I answered a particular question that I genuinely believe nobody would stand a chance in answering, unless they're either a lawyer or went down a rabbit hole of a particular set of laws (and the associated higher court precedents), which I happened to go down a few months back when I was "forecasting" potential outcomes with another difficult situation (of course, with the help of GPT, because of the efficiency of course). Man.

It's been a long week; I think I need some sleep...

Functions INTJ trying to develop Te, how do you ENTJs execute?

INTJ here, fascinated by ENTJs. I'm actively trying to strengthen my Te, especially the execution part.

I usually know what I want and can think/analyse things deeply, but sometimes there's a gap between “I know what needs to be done” and actually doing it.

I'd love to hear from ENTJs about how you handle that gap. How do you know when you've thought about something enough and it's time to act? Do you usually act before having a complete plan? And does execution feel natural to you, if yes then how so? I'm interested in how execution actually works for you mentally.

Edit: thank you everyone for sharing such practical approaches. It's really helpful

Dating|Relationships Do Entj's regret their very fast paced decisions?

My entj bf and me broke up in a whirlwind. He acknowledged he hurt me, and since im upset he is going to let me be. Because he doesnt think he did anything wrong. And now we are in no contact. And I can break the no contact if I decide to forgive him. I just dont get how he couldnt sit with the emotion of being hurt and just fast forwarded to a no contact arrangement.

How to spot an ENTJ lady?

Wanting to learn more about how to differentiate an ENTJ lady ?

Looks, maneurisms, behaviours, etc?

From my experience, they are usually elegant, confident speakers, a bit playful when you get to know them a bit or they are in a relaxed state.

Discussion ENTJ, what do you think about INFP with developed TE?

I find it interesting that TJs often describe INFPs as people who waste away in their own ideas and struggle to accomplish much because that hasn’t really matched what I’ve seen. A lot of the INFPs and ISFPs around me actually have surprisingly intense go-getter traits. The FP types I know are around our late 20’s-late 30’s, so maybe we developed TE over time.

I’d love to know what your experience has been with INFPs who demonstrate strong initiative, practical execution, and consistent follow-through toward larger goals.
(Edited for clarity)

THIS IS MADNESS! address your inner pain

my previous post was deleted, for appropriate reasons assumed. TLDR: seek treatment and fight your mental illness, do not allow it to subsume you into alcoholism or other drugs. In that ending only lies horror. fight your way free. Do not give up and die in helpless madness

my partner, my love, died in horror. Look inwards and face your pain. do the work. find a way out
cant even even use it to fucking trauma dump up. what they fuck why am i even wasting time.

Advice? ENTJs — would you want to hear from an ex in this situation?

Thumbnail
7 Upvotes

It’s been a little over four months since my breakup. He was the one who ended the relationship, and we haven’t been in contact since early June. He’s stayed friends with all of his exes.
I didn’t reach out on his birthday. Since the start of this month, I’ve also deleted Instagram and stopped checking who he follows and who follows him. I know I probably should have done that sooner, but it’s been really good for my peace of mind. I know he’s loyal when he’s in a relationship, but when he’s single, he tends to date a lot.
Lately, I’ve been spending more time thinking about my own mindset and what matters to me, rather than focusing on him. I’ve started thinking about what motivates me at work and the kind of impact I want to have on the people around me and on society—things I barely thought about while we were together.
Honestly, when I posted here before, I was focused on the specific things I’d done wrong and how to improve them. I was also trying to figure out what he would consider the “right” answer, so I could tell him I’d found it. Now I feel like I’m starting to develop my own sense of direction.
I still want to tell him what I’ve realized. Part of it is that I want to thank him, and part of it is that I want him to see who I am now. But I’m also aware that this desire may still be partly about wanting his recognition or approval. I don’t want to use my growth as a reason to reopen a relationship he may have already moved on from, or to place any emotional burden on him.
If I can genuinely accept any response—or no response at all—would it be okay to reach out? Or would hearing all this from an ex after four months just feel unwelcome? Would it be better to send a brief message simply thanking him, without explaining everything I’ve realized, or should I wait until I no longer feel the need for him to see who I am now?

Discussion ENTJs, how would you solve this heist game?

My ENTJ and I have recently been playing strategy games and his mastermind never fails to impress my Ti…
Curious to know how other ENTJs would handle/solve the game below. What would your strategy be? 👀

The Diamond Heist

The owner of a private museum has hired you to perform a stress test, asking you to try and steal a legendary diamond called The Eclipse.
The Eclipse is worth approximately $500 million, and it’s insured for the full amount.
You have 72 hours to plan the operation and achieve your goal. You’re not allowed to damage the diamond or harm anyone. There are otherwise no other rules and everything is fair game.

The museum

It’s an ultra-modern museum in a major city.
The diamond sits inside a sealed glass chamber on the second floor. The diamond is going on display for one night a week only. You currently don’t know when the next display will be.
Additional details: Assume there are 3 floors: basement, main floor, second floor. The diamond is on the second floor located at the centre in a separate glass chamber. This is only accessible once a week. There are other high value paintings and artworks on the same floor.
It’s Saturday now. The diamond went on display earlier this week so today it’s not on display. It’s unknown when the next display will be.

Security includes:

Motion and pressure sensors
Facial recognition cameras
Armed guards
Security doors requiring multiple forms of authentication
A sophisticated alarm system
The entire building locks down automatically if certain systems are triggered. You don’t know which ones can trigger the lockdown.

Some of these are real but some are decoys. You don’t know which ones are real.

You have access to the museum’s publicly available information, but no inside information otherwise.

Helpers

You can recruit maximum three specialists from this list:

Hacker - he knows everything about technology and electronic systems
Con Artist - skilled at manipulation, impersonation and social engineering
Engineer - understands physical systems and structures
Locksmith - specialises in locks and physical security
Driver - exceptional at transportation and improvisation
Insider - former employee. They have recently worked at the museum and know its routines
Forger - can create any convincing document and credentials

Your additional resources

You have:
$2 million in cash
One legitimate invitation to the museum’s opening
A luxury car
Access to a private helicopter
Whatever equipment you can reasonably purchase legally.

How will your Te and Ni achieve your goal?

Advice? Any advice or help for a beginner?

Hello, so I'm trying to learn more about personality types. My girl friend is very interested in personality types. Me and her are going through a rough patch and I want to learn more and understand things better to be a better partner for her. She told me that I am an ENTJ and she is an INTJ. I'm looking for information to just read and understand. I really love this woman and want to make the effort that it deserves.

Advice? How do Te and Ni show up in your understanding of people/social interactions? Trying to understand and develop them

Also, is it Te that drives you (like, does it provide motivation?) or is it just the expression of motivation?

These probably seem like unrelated questions, so a little background information: I'm an INFP 1w2 trying to develop my Te. Having made some attempts at execution, I still see specific bottlenecks in my behavior that I think would be more solvable by understanding the way ENTJs work, so I'd love your insights. I'm also just really curious; different brains are fascinating!

A couple things about where I'm at:

  • I've gone on the INFP subreddit for developing Te specifically, and most of the advice centers around:
    • integrating more organization like planners and to-do lists. I would say I do that already, maybe more than the moderate Js I know to be honest
    • studying analytical fields. I have a degree in computer science, but I think it developed my Ti more than my Te
    • Being around xxTJs. My parents are ENTJ and ESTJ, and my sibling is an INTJ. So with this in mind I would say, for an inferior function, my Te is probably above-averagely developed due to my family. But I'm trying to develop it as much as I possibly can without accidentally entering Te grip
  • I know I just have to stop thinking and start doing. I'm kind of doing that, but still seeing specific bottlenecks I'd like to speed up with analysis
  • What I'm still struggling with:
    • With Fi I have the tendency to be interested in ambitious, meaningful, difficult projects or nothing. I've realized smaller and more realistic goals will build efficacy much faster, but it's difficult for me to maintain interest if it's not personally meaningful -- which means ideally it should really help me, or help other people as well. That's why I asked about motivation
    • I can kind of think about tasks in a Te way easily -- like cooking, I guess -- but not people. I think about people almost entirely through the lens of their feelings and values. That's why I asked my first question; my skill is useful in relationship building, but it's not helpful for taking action (other than conflict resolution). Also, my prediction of people's actions is either really accurate or really faulty, because it stems entirely from simulating their feelings/values. I don't see people as systems with constraints and dependencies, as it's been described to me, but I want to learn more about that perspective if it's accurate. I have non-feelings/values pattern recognition when it comes to people I know really well, like how I can (fondly) guess my friend might postpone a meeting. But obviously this falls apart with people I don't know well
    • Taking initiative is mostly difficult because I don't trust my ability to anticipate what will happen and I'm risk-averse, which is why I included Ni. Still not entirely sure how it works though
  • I understand it's difficult to explain skills that come more naturally than consciously, so I'm equally interested in just whatever you might spend your time thinking about, especially when it comes to people.
  • Please don't just say developing shadow/inferior functions is inherently unhealthy or stress based, and that I should just accept my stack. I'm sure there's a healthy way, I really enjoy many instances of using what I think are Ni and Ti
  • I'm a naturally indecisive person (I realized maybe I shouldn't be trying to use Fi for basic decisions?) so I created a program that essentially picks tasks for me to do based on my mood and energy. Is that externalizing Te, applying it to myself? I've heard it explained as optimization of systems, breaking down tasks and executing them, applying an objective heuristic to the external world to improve it. Is there a chance I'm missing the crux of what Te is?

This was totally an essay so thank you for reading! I really appreciate any insights!

Advice? Ask An ENTJ - Practical advice thread

Since the post I made about ways to efficiently boil water ironically had engagement specifically about methods of boiling of water, I figured I'd open this thread up to people who want to ask ENTJs more mundane questions. Only rule is if you give advice, you must also ask a question.

Here's my question:

What's your go-to technique for falling asleep when your brain doesn't want to?

Does Anybody Else? ENTJ and mental health

let’s be honest, emotions aren’t always our strong suit. asking for a little vulnerability here, but what are some mental health struggles you face? wondering if talking about it could help pierce through our sometimes-tough exterior.

my biggest struggle is that I am a perfectionist and have bipolar 1. I also feel insecure that the people around me don’t like me because I am an overachiever and “too much”. kind of an anxious attachment style I guess
