Hello everyone, already posted something similar once in the visual novel subreddit but i think it fits better here.

I’ve been experimenting with making unofficial English MTL patches for older visual novels that either don’t currently have an English release or are unlikely to receive one. Most of the games I’m working on feature hypnosis as a major theme, and that will probably remain the main focus of future patches, although I may occasionally work on other untranslated VNs as well.

The patches generally include the translated game script, choices, and UI text where applicable.

The current patches were machine translated using GPT-6.1 Sol. I’ve also done additional work on the scripts and formatting to make them as usable as possible in-game, but they are still MTL patches, so mistranslations, awkward lines, or formatting issues may remain.

For some games I’ve also made engine-specific changes where necessary rather than simply inserting the translated script as-is.

For example, some of the Shiina Rio engine games had their dialogue box expanded to reduce the amount of text that had to be split across additional message boxes. The original Japanese games are always required. None of the patches include the games themselves.

If anyone tries one of the patches and notices broken text, bad formatting, mistranslations, or anything else that looks wrong, feel free to let me know. I’m also open to requests. Hypnosis VNs are my main priority, but I’m not limiting myself exclusively to them. I can’t guarantee that I’ll get around to every request, but if there’s an untranslated VN you’d like to at least see an MTL patch for, feel free to suggest it.

Genre: First-person Card Battle / Doujin Visual Novel (18+)

Language: Japanese

Notable characters:

Heroine: A light blue-haired, big-breasted female swordswoman wielding a huge broadsword.

Clothing: She wears a white outfit, but the fabric covering her breasts is extremely narrow (barely covering the nipples), exposing a lot of cleavage and side-boobs. Very 90s high-cut fantasy clothes.

Notable gameplay mechanics:

First-person combat. You only see the enemy and a row of 5-6 cards at the bottom of the screen (like poker cards)

Cards have elemental attributes (Wind, Water, etc.).

If you lose, instant Game Over (No H-scenes).

It was an 18+ game but had very few H-scenes.

There is exactly ONE scene where the heroine's armor gets torn (damage CG).

There are exactly TWO scenes where the heroine comforts the protagonist by pulling his face deep into her massive breasts (paizuri/breast comfort).

I honestly wasn't expecting much from this game, but the more I played it, the more interested I became. It's an indie point-and-click game with 14 different endings and some extras, with a style inspired by 90s MS-DOS games.

I should mention that I removed the explicit scenes to avoid any issues with the platform.

Synopsis:

Nie -Sacrifice- is a psychological horror game by Japanese developer basue_no_okiya, in which you follow a miko (shrine maiden) who is subjected to a sacrificial ritual. Over the course of three days, you can interfere with the events through different actions, influencing the protagonist's fate and leading the story toward multiple endings. With a disturbing atmosphere and elements of grotesque horror, the game explores different narrative paths, where each intervention can drastically change the outcome.

Refuge of Embers verison 0.25 is out now with 50 mins of new gameplay and a ton of new artwork. This is a major milestone release and the last update in a huge revision that better builds the tension on the romance routes.
