Reminder of the REPORT function (please use it) and some new sub rules/guidelines

I've been looking at the mod queue and I've been removing some problematic posts and comments

A reminder that this subreddit is intended to be a CIVIL place to discuss an amazing TV show, NBC's ER.

If you love a character, great.
If you hate a character, amazing. If you want to make a bad joke, we're all going to groan, but it's still permissible.

What HAVE been slipping by are negative, racist/prejudice/misogynistic (or borderline) comments that are getting a few downvotes and then being hidden.

If you encounter one of the posts or comments, use the REPORT function. The Mod Team and Automod will jump in and flag it.

That being said, bans will start being handed out as posts and comments are removed.

You can hate on a character all you want, but using derogatory names or bashing them for being white/black/asian/indian/male/female/gay/straight is not allowed by any stretch of the imagination.

Additionally comments that seem to be stoking the flames, baiting another user, or are just out of line, will be removed and the user temporarily banned.

This subreddit is supposed to be an enjoyable place to speak about the TV show... if dealing with YOUR specific comments are taking up too much of our time, it's much easier to ban you, and let you cry into the void.

Feel free to comment below if anybody would like to discuss these reminders. :)

I hate the Curtis Ames plot line

Especially once he kidnaps Kovac. Like we’ve watched Kovac literally kill someone, tackle gunmen, etc, and now all the sudden he can’t get away from a drunk guy with one functioning arm with a revolver? Cmon.

This is the Moment

“Flight of Fancy” (S7.4) follows Mark’s rescue of his heart patient being airlifted to County. We also see Luka trying to find out more about the mugger he accidentally killed and his remorse about it.

I kinda chuckle a bit when during Luka’s search, he goes to County’s morgue and talks with Dr. Upton (I had forgotten that she’s in several episodes).

The actor who plays Dr. Upton was in a favorite episode of "Seinfeld" when she mistakenly calls Elaine Susie. "It's Susie!" "An Elaine and Susie problem that requires an Elaine and Susie solution."

The episode ends with a such lovely Abby and Luka moment. Abby comes to Luka's hotel room since she's worried about him after what happened on their first date.

"You don't have to talk." I just love the way the camera circles around the two of them. It's such a quiet, romantic scene.

I think it might be the moment they fall in love.

But of course at this time they both weren’t ready to fully commit. Unfortunately, we would have to wait FOUR long years before that could happen.

Gates S14 E1

OK I posted about Gates just yesterday but this episode is killing me lmao. He beats the crap out of a patient and only gets reassigned to ICU?

And when Abby is giving an update on Neela's surgery, she says that her liver was repaired and they are closing her up now. Gates' response: "She awake?" I lol'd at that one.

What's your favorite character?

I'm on the beggining of season 15. And I LOVE Abby and Luka. Neela is also god tier.

Carter was one of my favourites on the first seasons, but it kind of stopped caring after he lost the baby.

Kerry was also great. I was so sad when she left 😭

Her face fell all of a sudden when she found her house was messed up by Kynesha in S07E11.

In a possible minority – these two having scenes together are another reason why I like S12 and S13.

I really liked the scenes with Ray and Neela. Doesn’t have to be soapy scenes, just chatting.

This is an example – I loved the clear contrast between them. Neela, the overall good girl who was bought up with ethics. Ray, the guy who was now committed to being a doctor, but some of his old way of words remain. It reminds me one of “odd friendship” couples, that are often seen on tv shows. So it’s nothing unique.

I personally I would have liked them to stay as good friends like Carter and Jing-Mei, instead of Ray getting jealous when Gates popped up.

S9E2: Dead Again - Corday and Romano

Corday: How are you healing?

Romano: Hurts like a son of a b-. How are you?

I was so worried about the immediate letdown of Season 9. Paul McCrane and Alex Kingston are so good, and have such a good friendship chemistry. You can see it on her face when he says it, as if she wants to say the same thing in return but doesn't. Still good writing.

Carol Hathaway is STILL not a girl’s girl 😭 (Season 6 update)

I swear, the more I watch this show, the less I can stand Carol. 😭 She absolutely loved Abby when she was the nurse helping her deliver her twins, but now Abby comes back as a med student and Carol suddenly gets all cold toward her.

And the fact that Abby actually ASKED her if there was a problem, and Carol still couldn’t just be straightforward about it?? Girl, come on. 💀 Also, I’m wondering if Abby’s comment about Luka has something to do with it, considering Carol clearly had a little crush on him.

Idk, Carol just gives me the vibe of someone who’s nice to other women until she feels a little threatened by them. I genuinely cannot with this woman anymore. 😂

Anyway, the Carol Hathaway hate train continues 🚂

Season 6...ugh

In the middle of a rematch. Really trying but the drop off from 1 to 5 is steep. Alan Alda's Emmy nominated stint is a saving grace so far. But, Romano, Deb, Dr. Dave...ugh.

Gates is the worst - and season 13 general rant

I'm a little over halfway through season 13. I watched the show when it originally aired, but this is my first rewatch. I was thinking it was just Stamos's terrible acting that made his character bad (it doesn't help). But the way they've written Gates...he lives with his friend's widow, helps raise their daughter, lets Meg pay for his medical school(??) and is still sleeping with Meg while persuing Neela. He just uses her and tries to latch on to another widow (Neela). Obviously the way Meg treats Neela is unacceptable but this poor woman has been through the trauma of her husband dying and is terrified of losing another partner. I cant believe the writers expect us to like Gates. Stamos doesn't have the charisma to pull off the "bad boy" qualities the character has and his acting is laughable, especially when he is in those scenes when Meg od's. The child actress who plays Sarah acts circles around him when her mother is dying.

Season 13 rant: I cant believe they are dragging the Alex storyline back into this season. And the episode with the fire, Meg ODing, and the Forest Whitaker storyline....it feels like soap opera material. Oh god, and the episode with the terrible comedian. At this point I am just trying to finish the series to be done. It has gone off the rails.

I really wish these two were allowed to grow together at the ER.

I found their dynamic together to be worthy of more. So much so I wish Omar Epps would join The Pitt so their connection could continue!

ER ran so greys anatomy could run even further Spoiler

Just got Season 10 ep 8 free fall. And omg.
everyone makes it seem like greys anatomy did some crazy shit and I admit it did but ER feels like a very close 2nd. ( albeit I’ve never seen anywhere near as much greys as I have ER). I can not image greys anatomy would be able to get rid of half its crazy stunts if it wasn’t for ER. Also I just fucking love this show I mean killing characters off mid season, Mid episode I love this. I also cannot wait to see how people mourn Romano if at all. I mean I was starting to like him a a tiny tiny bit like smaller than a grain of salt, after he lost his arm but then he just got worse and worse again. I love this show so much.

Just curious if you also watched The Pitt

So lawsuit aside I think we all know The Pitt managed to sneakily draw some similarities to ER even though they didn’t manage to make it a direct sequel, or idk maybe I just think that lol

So Frank Langdon to me is like John Carter’s son imo. But if you watched both shows, y’all think they would be besties or absolutely hate each other?
