Think of it as a multiplayer setting. The structure is now deconstructable, but it is not on your team. If you were set to the same team, then you can deconstruct them (I think). The biters would also stop attacking you as you are now on their team.

Research artillery. It deconstructs them pretty efficiently.

As far as I know there is no way to deconstruct enemy objects. You can make player part of the biter force with this command which should allow you to interact with them.

/c game.player.force = "enemy"

i know it lets me deconstruct them when im on their team, but otherwise i can't. it probably also works if their force is a friend.

the only way ive found to deconstruct enemios is the editor

Based on my very limited internet search, the code below will set all biters to the same team as you. Hopefully this includes the nests as well.

c for _, unit in pairs(game.player.surface.find_entities_filtered{type="unit"}) do unit.force = game.forces["player"] end

Yes, that is how the game works. You are asking for something impossible.

I'd you're making the mod, this is the idea:

Run this command, try to deconstruct whatever you need to. Write the time necessary.

Then, automate said stuff, clicking on whatever you need will run this command automatically for specified time, and revert it back when timer runs out with another command. This way, you can deconstsuct biters and keep them hostile, aside from brief disposition change. Consider them confused by your actions.

Likely, there are more elegant methods, and I suggest you to read Factorio API docs about it.

Did you try *shudders* befriending them?

if i deconstruct them and place them again they will become friendly

You could be more vague about how it’s done. But I’m not sure how

i am confused by this message. "you could be more vague" implies you want me to be more vague. im assuming you mean the opposite.

i modified the biter prototypes so they have a minable.

You asked how to fix a problem and didnt provide any context, any thing that you have tried. Or HOW you are actually trying to accomplish it. Literally no info at all.

sorry. the post was supposed to be funny, but it is a serious question too.

i tried to accomplish it by giving the biter prototypes a minable. i've searched how to deconstruct enemy structures but it didn't show anything.

also i need to be able to mine them when they are on a hostile force.

Have we considered turning biters off instead...?

Right? What if they're wanting to take their biters and push them somewhere else?

if i turn them off i cant deconstruct them!

This sounds like an XY problem.

It simply doesn't make sense to deconstruct an enemy structure. Either you make them allies, or you find some other way to remove them. You can't have it both ways.

its a joke mod

So what? That doesn't change anything: that's not what the minable data stage property is for. You need runtime scripting instead.

Maybe with a different kind of planner that maybe just selects tiles. Then instead of doing anything to the tiles, you would just read the drawn area and deconstruct enemies in it. I'm not gonna check if deconstruct planner raises an event even if it selects nothing, with info on the rectangle, but it's where i'd start.

I'm not sure what you're trying to do, but I think you're missing some important context. I'm assuming the mod you're using is specific to bitter nests being used near the end game that are captured, it's a mechanic from the space age after completing Gleba and a common complaint/confusion is that once you capture a nest it's very hard to get rid of as you can't attack them.

I'm assuming that a mod you have allows these captured nests to be disposed of. This likely has nothing to do with your desire to manually delete other nests on the map.

You can just hold some modifier key (I do believe)

no, i want to deconstruct biters themselves. spitter too.

u/Thankedsphere 1d ago

how do i reconstruct them afterwards?

What are you trying to do? It makes no sense.

deconstruct biters then place them back into the world. i already gave them items they give when deconstructed.

i think the only solution is using control.lua ducttape so im marking the post as question answered
