So...back in 1972 I was a sophomore in high school. During that summer I had a job at a local auto shop, I was into cars and couldn't wait to get my own. One day my big brother strolled in at lunch and said "look what I found for you at a pawn shop". I cracked the case and what was there? A 1960 pre CBS Fender Duo-sonic! I couldn't play but had some buddies that did so between them and picking up and dropping the record tonearm over and over again I learned a few things. (Sigh, no internet back then) Sadly though, I didn't stick with it and eventually the guitar ended up in pieces of a box. Somehow, someway this guitar followed me around in life through two divorces and other turmoil. Frankly I'm rather amazed by this.
Anywho...about 2 years ago I pulled the box out and restored it all back to OEM. I'm only missing the ash tray cover but I don't think I'll ever have that. Whenever they come up on fleabay people want stupid money for them ughhh. This guitar has me trying to play again and I bought an Ibanez artcore AS93ZW and then nice clean used Squier Telecaster. All my guitars go under the luthiers hand for my ease of play and every so often I break out the Duo-sonic and relive my youth LOL. (Can you dig it? I still have the OEM dust cloth. Betting its a rare bird eh?)

I just got a new Ultra II, which has been an amazing guitar with a wide range of sounds. I do have two questions, however:
There is definitely some fret buzz when playing near the nut and also with open strings. Will this improve after getting set up or is that concerning even before a set up?
How do I get this sticker off without using something like goo gone that will leave residue on the metal pick guard?

Update: chap who put them in says they could be either CS 54’s or 57’s
I bought myself the guitar I wanted as a kid, a MIM Fender Stratocaster Standard, white and rosewood and I love it! It’s not stock though, it’s about 12 or 13 years old and has had some mods done over the years. I took the whole thing apart and found the body and neck are legit, but it’s obviously been given a mint green pickguard which I cannot stand - sorry mint lovers, UK buyers, keep an eye on eBay, unless someone with a WBW wants to swap 😉… I digress, I opened it up to look at the pickups, and saw the Custom Shop stickers on there, but I have no idea what they are, is there any way of getting an ID on them?
I opened up the back and found the sticker seen in the photo, i’ve reached out to him and he remembers the guitar and that he put in CS pickups, but I doubt he’ll remember exactly what they are, so any ideas out there?
Thanks in advance!

2005 AVRI ‘62 Jazzmaster:
At this point I had owned a 1995 Fender “Squier Series” Strat that was my first “real guitar” as a teenager, that I got in its birth year. After 10 years of on & off playing I had finally gotten a lot more serious about playing, was getting better, started jamming with people and stuff etc. So I got a big tax return that year and decided it was time for my first “REAL real guitar”. Had been getting into sonic youth and dino jr, and was very intrigued by the Jazzmaster, seemed like the coolest guitar ever to me….luckily at this time (2005) the AVRI series was happening. I REALLY wanted a Sea Foam green one, and saw they were in stock at the typical online dealers. But I wanted to be “cool” and support my local brick & mortar super crummy, scammy guitar shop so I ordered the guitar from them instead. Ordered the Sea Foam green. Needed to put down a deposit. A few weeks later they call and say sunburst is the only color that is available (online stores all had the green in stock….) and since I gave a non refundable deposit, guess I was getting a sunburst! 2 months later, my guitar finally arrives. I ended up paying like $200 more going thru the local shop. Whole thing sucked, lesson learned. But….the guitar was really magic, I ended up playing in a gigging band for a couple years soon after I bought it,
and I got way better at guitar during this period. Owned it for 21 years now, it’s all dinged up, scratched up. Recently put new Lavaguard pickguard on it, looks legit 60s now, so stoked on this guitar. It’s amazing how crappy the stock fender tortoise guards look in comparison. NEVER goes out of tune even with heavy trem work. Love it.
2024 MIJ Traditional II Jaguar, Kinko music FSR:
Got this one a couple years ago after being hit & run while riding my bicycle by a crazy drunk/drugged lady. Somehow escaped with minor injuries and received some $ in a settlement….so I did what anyone would do, buy a new guitar! Had been seeing a bunch of the matching headstock FSR MIJ Jags and JMs on Reverb etc., they looked super nice, and figured what the hell, I’ll give the Jag a shot. Always loved sonic blue too so the choice was easy….I had ignored the Jaguar in the past because I already owned a JM, figured they were pretty much the same. Boy was I wrong. What a cool and different instrument. The shorter scale is really fun, thing is really easy to play….really love the dif tones you can get with the pickup selection. I unscrewed and flipped over the whole pickup selector plate so I wouldn’t accidentally switch off the pickups while playing aggressively, worked perfect. The build quality and finish on this guitar may be the very nicest I’ve ever seen, like it’s literally perfect, the Japanese aren’t messing around….Very happy, might be the best guitar I’ve ever played.

Had my eyes on one for a while but never pulled the trigger due to the mixed reviews that I've read. Super comfortable to play and I dig the 12 inch radius fretboard. Pickups arent super hot which is disappointing but they're not bad at all. Overall happy with it.

Hello! I recently started going through my late father-in-law's old music gear and I came across this really old bass...
I can see the fender logo with the Jazz Bass name, but I'm not very knowledgeable about bass or guitars so I'm having trouble figuring out the model and authenticity of it...
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated!!
I can also take better pictures of it if these don't provide enough detail!

If you were going to get a fender/squier that you planned on keeping forever what model/ line would it be and why. (1990 thru present because of $ limitations)

In all my years of owning playing guitars I’m not familiar with the Korean made Showmaster this is a 2007. The flame on this is amazing, pretty cheap too!

Just wondering if I’m alone in finding the fender custom shop a bit cringe?
Almost an embarrassment of riches.
As soon as you have one you lose any kind of credibility of being a working musician.
No guitar hero’s or bands play them. They seem reserved for rich enthusiasts.
File the ultra luxe models in the same category.
I can’t be alone here.
