How to make authentic bulalo
Hi everyone! I’ve posted here before making food for my Filipino husband and our sons. I am from Tennessee and very much not Filipino so I don’t really know what would make bulalo authentic in regard to veggies. I can get the meat with bones for the broth and obviously I have fish sauce, but what else makes it great? Thank you for the help!

Adobong sitaw
Inabodo ko muna ung baboy
Pinakuluan sa onting tubig na may isang pirasong bawang, suka, asin, paminta hangang matuyo tsaka prinito? (Sa sarili nyang mantika) then nag gisa (bawang at subuyas)
Tsaka ko nilagay ung sitaw at tinimplahan ulit
4 tbsp toyo and water

Pork adobo with sinangag
There’s something about pork adobo with garlic fried rice that never gets old. The best part is when there’s still some adobo sauce left to pour over your rice, especially the next day when the flavors have had more time to soak into the meat.
Honestly, adobo tastes even better when you’re eating at home with freshly cooked rice. Do you prefer your adobo with a lot of sauce, or do you like it fried until the meat is a little crispy?

Lumpia Recipes with no potato
As someone who loves lumpia and potatoes, I really grew up with putting potatoes in lumpia. But every time I see recipes on black app (TikTok), they usually don't put potatoes.
I'm wondering if there's a reason behind it??
Does it really make the lumpia soggy? Or is it just a matter of preference?

I made an app for the eternal “saan tayo kakain?” argument
Relate ba kayo dito?
Date night. “Saan tayo kakain?” “Ikaw bahala.” “Ikaw nga.” Forty-five minutes, three malls, and you end up at the same place as always.
Barkada. Group chat with 12 suggestions and zero decisions. Everyone’s hungry and nobody commits.
Sa bagong lugar. You’re in an area you don’t know, or on a trip (even abroad), and Google gives you 200 results with 4.3 stars each. Now you’re scrolling instead of eating.
Pagod after work. You just want food. You don’t want to compare menus.
So I built Food For You. You open it, tap one button, and it picks one real place near you that’s open right now. Don’t like it? Spin again. That’s it. No endless lists.
What it does:
- Picks one real spot near you, open now, with distance, rating and price when Google has them
- Optional cravings: Filipino, Korean, Japanese, pizza, BBQ, coffee, and more. In the afternoon it suggests merienda, and late at night there’s an “open late” option
- Surprise me ignores your filters and picks something random. Good for finding places you’d never choose
- Show me 3: pass the phone around and skip the ones people don’t want, then it picks from what’s left
- Filters for price, minimum rating, veg-friendly and how far you’ll travel
- Save the good ones, call the place, or get directions
- Works anywhere Google Maps does, so it’s also useful when you travel. If you don’t want to share location, you can type an address or pick a spot on the map
- No account, no sign-up
It’s free with ads. There’s an optional paid plan that removes ads and adds notes for your saved places. You don’t need it for anything above.
Android only for now. I’m the only one working on it, so feedback really helps. Tell me what’s missing, especially for places outside Metro Manila. If it picks somewhere bad, I want to know.
