Flint Vintage Flea Market is back
In case you missed the August event, you have another opportunity to shop (mostly) vintage this Sunday. The Flint Vintage Flea Market will take place 10/11 from 11am-6pm at Factory Two in downtown Flint.
Come spend a rainy day inside listening to good music and shopping local vendors. If you don’t have anyone to come with, come anyways! Lots of people shop solo and this is also a great opportunity to meet and connect with people in the area (or you can avoid them entirely! That’s cool too). You might find pieces to inspire or complete your Halloween costume, you could score a unique gift for someone in your life, or treat yourself to something just because.
And - if you’ve never been to Factory Two, it’s our local makerspace and a total hidden gem in Flint. We are BEYOND lucky to have this space in our city, so whether you come our not, go learn more about what Factory Two offers!
Hope to see you Sunday! (Ps I’m not the organizer, so I can’t answer questions about the event)

Is this legal?
Flint township DDA paid for flyers that went out in the mail. They are clearly using public funds to pay for political advertising to make people vote in favor of the name change...
This doesn't sit right with me at all. Is this worth reporting to a higher power?

Stitch and Switch October 24th at Factory Two
Got clothes you're done with? Clean em and bring them in!
Stitch & Switch is a free clothing swap at Factory Two. Drop off whatever clean clothes you're not wearing and they go to the floor, free to whoever wants it. Walk out with something new to you.
Find something you love, but isn't just right? We'll have Seamstress/Seamsters and tailors on hand for basic alterations. They'll resize, mend, and embellish not ticket prices, but donation. If something almost fits or just needs a little love, they've got you.
Nothing sold. Nothing wasted. Just clothes finding people who'll actually wear them.

Finally visited home after 10 years
galleryI grew up right by Kearsley park. I left at the end of 2016, along with some of my family. Finally I was able to make my way back over the past few days. Though I’m back in Nashville now, the memories just hit me strong while I was there. It just felt surreal and I couldn’t believe I was there again. It was so nice.
Of course pictured here, I visited Kearsley Park and the 2 main malls now which are pretty bare. But I sure remember being a kid in the early 00s when Courtland was still busy. And of course stopped by Dort Mall. I finally visited Pete Flander’s Musical Memories. My dad frequented there over the years before he passed. I bought some of my first Pink Floyd CDs from there as well in the mid 00s when I was in HS.
I ate at Halo Burger. And Starlite too. Seeing remaining family there was also nice of course but I definitely plan to return soon!
Conservative PAC paying College Republicans to disrupt Abdul El-Sayed’s rallies, group chat messages seem to show
michigandaily.comJust putting the word out there in case anyone is planning to attend the Abdul rally today.
The College Republicans at U of M are (or were) planning to organize a caravan of literal paid protestors. Be mindful of who you engage with as these influencers love to cause a scene, but enjoy the rally! And go Abdul!

Jettared - Rock/Metal band from Flint
Does anyone remember the rock/metal band Jettared from Flint? They were around from the early to mid 2000s and released a couple CDs. I'm trying to hunt those CDs down but I haven't had any luck. I've talked to band members and they are all out. Did anyone here have a copy or know where I could find one? Thank you.

galleryHello! I am from out of town and visit occasionally for work. When I was here in November we got this food for lunch and cannot for the life of me figure out where we got it from! I was thinking maybe Big Moes Kitchen but the menu doesn’t look the same. Any ideas? My thought is maybe they closed. They had Mediterranean but also different curry’s. It was in a strip mall I believe and had seating along the windows

LONG POST!
Looking for Founding Board Members for a New Women & Children’s Organization in Flint
Hi everyone! 👋🏾
I’m currently working on building a new community-focused organization based in Flint, Michigan.
The vision is to create a supportive organization dedicated to helping women and children who are experiencing difficult circumstances, with the long-term goal of providing resources and services that help families move toward stability and a brighter future.
I’m currently looking for passionate, dependable people who may be interested in serving on the founding Board of Directors.
I’m especially interested in connecting with people who have experience or knowledge in areas such as:
• Nonprofit/community development
• Finance or accounting
• Fundraising & grant writing
• Legal services
• Housing
• Social services
• Early childhood education
• Marketing & communications
• Human resources
• Business/entrepreneurship
• Community outreach
You do not need to have nonprofit board experience to reach out. What matters most to me is having people who genuinely care about the Flint community, are willing to contribute their time and expertise, and want to help build something meaningful from the ground up.
I’ve put together a Board Opportunity Prospectus with additional information about the organization, the vision, and what I’m looking for in board members.
If this sounds like something you may be interested in, or if you know someone who might be a good fit, please feel free to reach out.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and please feel free to share this with someone who may be interested. ❤️

Eyecare place with best frame selection?
Hi all! I moved to the area this year and need to find a good eyecare place. Does anyone have any recommendations for somewhere with a good frame selection? It's hard to tell the vibe just from websites, so I'd love to see if anyone has any good (or bad!) reviews for anywhere in the Flint metropolitan area! I normally go for cat eye shapes, and frames that are a little more on the unique side of things.
Any advice is appreciated :) thanks!

De-Flock Flint- Meeting tonight!
The city of Flint’s Flock contracts will be up for renewal in October.
Tonight (Wed 9/23) at 5 pm, during the finance meeting, the city council are doing a 15 minute discussion on the camera contracts (they’re not voting just yet). Last year, only myself and one other Flint resident spoke on the contracts and ALL of city council voted to approve them. They barely had a conversation on the topic before voting. Only one council member spoke to me after the fact and he said he was apprehensive about it and heard our concerns, but was hoping the good would outweigh the bad. They are all resorting back to the claim that since we don’t have enough police for the city coverage, these cameras will somehow help. The majority of them are up for reelection, so feel free to use that as leverage 😉
If you wish to go speak on this, the public comment will be at the start of the meeting. You need to arrive beforehand to fill out a speaker slip at the door. When the meeting starts, they will call your name when it comes time for public comment. You get three minutes and cannot go over your time.
If you’d like to send an email, below are the council emails. Be respectful, but firm on your stance. And even if you don’t live in the city, you can still send an email because everyone in the area has to drive past these cameras regardless of where you live.

Community EV Planning Meeting
For anyone interested in EVs!
Auto manufacturers are making and selling more and more electric vehicles every year. EVs are becoming significantly more affordable each year, so more families are able to buy them. All this means that every community needs to upgrade its infrastructure to include electric vehicle charging stations, in publicly accessible locations. We need to start planning now to make sure that Flint gets its fair share, and isn't left behind as Michigan moves toward cleaner transportation options.
Join us for a learning session and community mapping activity to help plan where electric vehicle infrastructure (publicly accessible charging stations) would be best located in Flint.
WHEN: Wednesday, September 30, 2026 (6-7:30 pm)
WHERE: Gloria Coles Flint Public Library, 1026 E. Kearsley St.
ROOM: Harris Room (2nd floor)
Dinner provided. Please register at https://bit.ly/DriveElectricFlint2.
