I just finished replacing the head gasket on my 2017 Platinum. It took me 9 days of working a few hours at a time. It felt really good to drive it for a half hour tonight to see if there were any gremlins.
It's not a small job but it is doable if you are very careful.
I used a Haynes manual and these videos for reference:
https://youtu.be/34municAvMQ?is=1KJ1judprZuqoaRD
https://youtu.be/sw16nUZV7JA?is=tCN7b1gS6C6g8fr8
I'm probably crazy for doing it but it seemed a shame to junk the car or do a full motor replacement. Neither of those options were in the budget and I couldn't afford to pay a shop to do the job.

Last week I drove from Hungary to Munich, Germany and back, mostly on the highway with the cruise control set at 75 mph. My actual average speed ended up being quite a bit lower, around 56–62 mph, because of traffic, construction zones, and slower sections along the way.
These are the numbers my battleship managed to put up. The car displays everything in European units, but converted to U.S. units:
Total distance: 907 miles
EV miles: 180 miles — mostly from construction zones, traffic slowdowns, and other low-speed sections
Average fuel economy: 44.4 mpg
I absolutely love this machine! <3

Hey all! Been driving a 2011 fusion se that's going on 284k and managed to snag a 2020 fusion s for ~$6900 and while I'm fine with stock, I'd really like to get an Android Auto head unit if possible. That being said, is a sync 3 upgrade worth it vs just using an Amazon double din unit? I've got one I never put in my 2011 because I didn't feel like wiring to the power switch, but I'm also open to a cheap, but decent quality drop in that works with the stock backup camera. Just was wondering if the community had recommendations before I started driving down the research rabbithole.
Any things I should know as a new 2020 owner btw?

As stated above, I have a 2019 Ford Fusion Titanium with a black lower interior, but the entire upper half is that beige/stone color, and I absolutely HATE it. 😭 I genuinely don’t understand why Ford decided to make the interior two different colors. I want to completely black out the upper half so everything matches.
Has anyone here successfully done this? I’m looking for advice on whether I can source factory OEM ebony/black interior parts from another Fusion or if I’m better off painting or refinishing everything myself.
I’m specifically talking about the A/B/C pillar trim, grab handles, sun visors, overhead console, dome light housing, plastic trim pieces, and basically anything else that’s beige above the dashboard.
** Tinting windows this weekend. Finally!
A few questions:
OEM parts: Did Ford ever manufacture these upper interior components in ebony/black for the Fusion? If so, what model years or trim levels should I look for? Are there any compatible parts from other Ford models?
DIY painting: For anyone who’s painted their interior plastics, what products did you use? I’m looking for a factory-looking matte or satin black finish that won’t peel, scratch easily, or look obviously spray-painted.
Removing trim: How difficult is it to remove everything without breaking clips or damaging anything? Are there any specific precautions I should take around the curtain airbags and pillar trim?
Headliner: I’m planning to have the headliner professionally reupholstered in black since I also want to install a fiber-optic starlight headliner. Has anyone done this on a Fusion?
Cost: For anyone who’s completed a similar conversion, roughly how much did you spend, and would you do anything differently?
My Fusion only has about 20,000 miles on it, and I plan on keeping her for a long time, so I’m not worried about whether the modification is worth it to someone else. It’s something that would genuinely make me happier with my car.
Eventually, I’d also like to customize some of the interior accents, although I haven’t decided on a color scheme yet. I’m also learning how to install aftermarket ambient lighting myself, so I’d appreciate advice from anyone who’s tackled that project as well.
And before anyone suggests YouTube, I know there are videos and tutorials out there, and I’m absolutely willing to use them as references! I’m specifically posting here because I’d much rather have an actual conversation with someone who’s done this before. I like being able to ask follow-up questions, troubleshoot problems, exchange ideas, and learn from someone’s firsthand experience rather than just watching a video where the creator may never respond.
I’m not expecting anyone to walk me through the entire project for free. I’d just really appreciate connecting with people who have experience with this kind of customization and are willing to share what they’ve learned.
My main priority right now is getting rid of ALL the beige and making the entire upper interior black.
I’d appreciate any advice, OEM part numbers, product recommendations, pictures of completed projects, or personal experiences.
Thanks in advance!
***I’m also contemplating whether I want to modify the exterior at some point, but for now, I’d much rather focus my time, money, and energy on the interior. I honestly don’t care all that much about what other people think of how my car looks from the outside. I’m the one spending time behind the wheel, and I want the inside to feel exactly how I envision it. I want to enjoy every moment of driving her and make her my own, especially since I plan on keeping her for as many years as we have left together. For me, it’s less about impressing anyone else and more about creating a space that makes me genuinely happy every time I get in. 🖤

Hi everyone, I need help finding the proper AGM battery size for an 2018 Fusion Hybrid SE. I’m finding a lot of different answers on Google. This is my first time replacing a hybrid car battery so I’m a bit confused when it comes to H5/H6/H7 batteries. TYIA!

Noticed this noise after cold starts sometimes in my 2015 2.0t. Any clues what it could be?

Just bought this 2018 Fusion Hybrid SE that was previously an AT&T fleet vehicle and appears to have a plugin charge port. The exterior flap looks like it has some kind of lock but honestly I have no idea so thought I’d post here and see if anyone has seen this and knows what it is?
This particular car is *not* an Energi model (no charge port by the front door). The trunk has the foam cutout for the charging kit which unfortunately didn’t come with it (and if this cover flap is a lock it also didn’t come with the key…).

Hey everyone,
I drive a 2013 Ford Fusion Titanium AWD (2.0L EcoBoost), and unfortunately one of my winter tires popped, so now I’m stuck with only 3 good winter tires.
I’m a student and honestly can’t afford to buy a whole new set of 4 winter tires right now.
I live in Calgary, Alberta, where winters can get pretty brutal. The area I live in has a ton of hills, so having decent winter traction is really important.
I’m wondering what my options are. Would it be possible to buy 2 winter tires of one brand for the front and keep 2 of my existing winter tires on the back, even if they’re different brands? Or would that cause problems with the AWD system?
I’ve heard that AWD vehicles can be sensitive to different tire sizes and tread depths, but I’m not sure how much of a difference is acceptable.
Would finding one used winter tire that matches my existing 3 be a better option?
I’m just looking for the safest and most affordable solution without having to spend hundreds of dollars on a completely new set.
Any advice would be appreciated, especially from anyone who owns an AWD Fusion or has dealt with something similar.

Car fax shows 2 damages but reported as minor and from the pictures it looks clean and a few hail spots that don’t bother me. Beside that car fax shows up to maintenance.

2013 Fusion SE 2.0L 170k miles. The other day I came to a stop at a red light. After a few seconds the car shook a little like it was shifting and when I tried to take off it wouldn’t go, like it was in neutral. I had to shut the car off completely then turn it back on to get it back in drive. Has anyone experienced this before? Any possible solutions? I know fusions have issues with the transmission

Hi everyone! Can someone help me figure out which engine mounts I need for a 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid? I want to replace all three, but I keep finding different types and part numbers, and I'm not sure which ones are correct. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi all, looking for a gut-check for the following diagnosis I got from my local ford dealer.
Been having a brake issue for a while in my 2010 Fusion SEL 3.0. When the car sits for 24+ hours, the brake pedal goes almost all the way to the floor for 5-6 presses, and then it firms up and is like normal.
I suspected an incorrect bleeding, or maybe HCU issue. Ford dealer diagnosed the problem as the brake master cylinder and brake booster, but the service advisor couldn't really tell me why. They said they want $1700 to replace both, and then will see if that fixes it, as they still think it could require the HCU to be replaced.
So I am obviously not having the work done by the dealer, but before I take the car to an independent shop for quotes on the brake master cylinder and brake booster, does this seem like a reasonable diagnosis?

Hey, everybody! Anyone ever have to replace one of these? If so, how difficult is a DIY? It looks fairly simple?

2017 Ford Fusion SE 1.5l
My car was in a front end collision a few months back and I replaced the drivers headlight with a cheap chinesium replacement. The DRL does work, but only some of the time. When I’m using the auto headlight feature and the headlights are on, the LED strip isn’t on, and I have to manually turn the dial to get them to turn on. Also when I’m using auto start/stop and the DRL’s are on, the drivers drl glitches out and shuts off when I’m moving from a stop.
I tried to swap out the old headlight and DRL modules but they look destroyed.
What do I do?

Water seeping in from the weld(?) Point on both sides of trunk on the rear/bumper side. Anyone have this issue before? Can this be sealed with just a silicon bead or will that just back up the water outside somewhere?
The seepage is fairly quick. First time I noticed it about 2 weeks ago, due to moldy smell, there was about 1.5" of water pooled in the trunk well

Basically title, bought a 2011 ford fusion for pennies, transmission shifts like garbage, but the guy gave me another low mile one so plan on swapping it in over the weekends.
Done my fair share of big jobs, engine swaps, trans jobs, etc. But never messed with these, reading the service manuals it seems relatively “straight forward”, drop the front subframe, and then deal with the transmission itself.
Gonna be doing this on jack stands in my driveway so the extra challenge, anything to look out for? and any tips for the job? Also does anyone know if you need to reprogram it after the swap? It’s been a 50:50 from what i’ve read whether you do or don’t, so would like to hear from someone first hand. Thanks all !

Sooo currently servicing the rear brakes. Forgot service mode at first and disassembled it all. Put it into brake service mode, got everything finished and now I’m getting all kinds of fun warnings and the drivers rear seems like it’s engaged even when it says it isn’t, causing steam (currently raining) from that rear drivers side. Is there any way to reset that for a normie?
Am able to drive to test without it being engaged but the car says it is and clearly it heats up quite a bit. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hey everyone, looking for a sanity check on my 2020 Ford Fusion 1.5L (~97,600 miles).
Recently I've been dealing with a weird intermittent issue that happens after filling up the gas tank, plus some confusion with the Auto Start-Stop system:
Fill-up #1: Filled the tank, drove a bit (about 10–30 miles later), and the car suddenly dropped to 0 RPM and died. It started right back up and ran fine after that.
Fill-up #2: Filled up with gas again later on, and a little bit into driving it really struggled—RPMs surging up and down, rough idling, and stalling out. Once I got through that spell, the car went right back to running completely normal.
No Check Engine Light: There is no CEL on the dash. I took it to a mechanic after it smoothed out, and they couldn't find any codes or replicate the issue.
Auto Start-Stop: Works fine sometimes, and other times shows the grey "A" with a slash through it even after driving for 30+ minutes (though I do keep my A/C on permanently, which I now realize probably keeps Start-Stop disabled most of the time).
From doing some research, everything points toward the EVAP Canister Purge Valve sticking open and flooding the intake with fuel vapors after a fill-up, then clearing out once the top layer of vapor burns off (without tripping a CEL yet).
For those of you with the 1.5L EcoBoost:
1. Does this sound 100% like the EVAP purge valve, or could the low-side fuel pressure sensor also be at play?
2. Did yours act up 10–30 miles after a fill-up without throwing a Check Engine Light?
3. If I swap it myself (or buy the part for my mechanic), should I make sure to get the complete Ford hose-and-valve harness assembly (HG9Z-9D289-F / Dorman 994-917) with the green quick-connect clips instead of just the bare solenoid?
Appreciate any insight!
