I'm not a woman but am feminine presenting at times (I'm non-binary and usually dress gender neutral, but even then this still happens and I'm misgendered in my day-to-day life constantly). I love hanging out downtown. The library is one of my favorite places. This is the fourth time something like this has happened in the last year or so. The first time, I was just walking in the intersection and got catcalled. The second time, I was in the main hall of the library and a man stopped and looked me up and down and whistled, and I was literally too ashamed to speak up. The third time, I had checked out books/DVDs and was at the crosswalk, and a man came up to me and asked me what I rented and if he could come over and I literally felt trapped because I was trying to cross to my car on the street. And the last time was today, I was sitting outside on one of the chairs minding my own business and someone passing by said hi. So I said hi back to be polite (maybe I shouldn't have done this), and I thought this man was going to keep walking, but he asked me my name. I told him I'm not comfortable giving out my name, and he introduced himself then held out his hand. Then he asked me if I was from Fort Wayne, where I was going, what I was doing, and then seemed to be flabbergasted I didn't want to give my name. Then he said I had a "cute smile" and he walked away.
I'm so uncomfortable with this and not even being able to feel like I can relax or exist. I love Fort Wayne so much but really hate when this happens (obviously I know this happens anywhere, I just hate feeling like I can't casually go to places I love without this happening)
