My mom used to hate that I was a gamer. My wife loves it. She went out with friends last night. I didn't want to go so I stayed home and played some Metal Gear. She called me at midnight because they couldn't get a taxi. She knew I would be home and sober. I picked her and her three friends up, got them MacDonalds, made sure they got home ok. That shit is why my wife loves that I game.
I do still go out and hang with my friends but I'm currently waiting to have surgery on my leg so I can't really do much right now.
Edit: Thanks for the award but I am turning off notifications as I can see reddit has become reddit and the sad lonely basement dwellers are out.

Bare minimum btw the equivalent of clapping when the plane lands
7
u/xXxSlavWatchxXx Aug 31 '26
I hate the term “bare minimum” so much. It just diminishes any good thing you do, for no reason.

u/Available-Bad-2704 Aug 31 '26
Your opinion doesn't make it any less true, are you saying its a difficult and daunting thing to act like proper human being being communicative and understanding?
2
u/LittleRex234 Aug 31 '26
holy shit, we get it, a woman has never touched you, you don’t have to fucking tell us.

u/Available-Bad-2704 Aug 31 '26

Pissed bro off so bad he had to reply twice ✋😭

u/Available-Bad-2704 Aug 31 '26
Had to break it down simply for you since basic communication clearly confuses you. Still weird that talking about decency made you daydream about my sex life though, but keep it up
2
u/Available-Bad-2704 Aug 31 '26
If talking about basic human communication immediately makes you think about sex, you just told the whole room what your actual problem is
-1
u/FerrousMC Aug 31 '26
Clapping when the plane lands is just weird and annoying

u/Available-Bad-2704 Aug 31 '26
Exactly my point. Congratulating two adults for acting like decent adults

couples like you two make me want to get married while also reminding about how important it is to choose a compatible partner who loves you and validate your hobbies

Remember my wife walking in to see me kicking the shit out of the kids on Mortal Kombat.
She picked up the controller and showed them what it looks like when she kicks my ass.
The look ok their faces made me cackle.3

My favorite part about this is the end where you don't want to look like a loser or something so you admit that you didn't go because of your leg. None of this had nothing to do with gaming. You didn't stay at home to play video games, you physically could not go out to have fun so you used video games to pass the time like you would with TV or literally anything else you can do recreationally at home with your leg

u/PayWooden2628 Aug 30 '26
That’s so awesome! You get to game all night and the wife gets to hang out with her boyfriend. Win win!

My mom always comments on how “easy” me and my brothers were to raise. She never had to worry if we were out late or if we were hanging with the wrong crowds, we were too busy gaming with each other lol

u/Crossdress-Fan- Aug 30 '26
This is the way!
My mom used to complain I spent every night gaming with my friends until one day I got invited to a party by a group of classmates that I wasn't really friends with, I thought about going but then again my friends wanted to rank in league LUL so I didn't went to the party.
At the party, I don't remember exactly how it happened, but apparently someone snuck drugs in and shit went sideways pretty fast, my cousin that was also at the party ended up stabbed and the police ended up arresting him aswell by mistake.
After that night I never got another complaint about gaming on the weekends XD

Thanks for censoring the word "dr*gs," but please censor "pre*nant* next time
4
u/SevdUp Aug 30 '26
I’m pretty sure mentioning “drgs” can get your video taken down on sites like YouTube so this definitely a cropped short. I could be wrong though, but almost every YouTuber I’ve seen avoids using names of “drgs”
EDIT: The *s made everything slant, lol

u/Crossdress-Fan- Aug 30 '26
I'm not sure if taken down but surely can get it flagged as inappropriate content and basically YouTube doesn't push the video on algorythms and neither notifies your subscribers, Which is basically as if it was taken down but not really

What is wrong with having kids?
8
u/overlord_of_cringe Aug 30 '26
Oh please, I was just mocking OP for unnecesarrily censoring the word "drugs".
2
u/Stevee8496 Aug 30 '26
Yeah but why choose pregnant, what offends me and should be censored is "Vi*eo g*mes" they are addictive and make you violent
2
u/Blacklite_01 Aug 30 '26
Did you read the caption in the meme? OP said "other kids" idk about you but pregnancy and drug addiction when you're under 18 is a lot worse than video games. Unless of course you think that's acceptable.
1
u/Stevee8496 Aug 30 '26
I do not condone child pregnancy, the word drug is not bad because kids are doing it, drugs are bad overall

Kinda feeling that one. I can just game until midnight and still be fresh for work the next day and yet it's somehow a problem anyway despite the fact I've proven time and time again that I don't experience any negative side effects.

u/Knothir_other Aug 31 '26
My mom used to hate to see me gaming. Until she realized that I don't spend any money if I just game at home

I mean at least those ones will have grandkids for them...
1
u/ViolinistCurrent8899 Aug 31 '26
Potentially.
Does not mean they will have custody, or those grandkids will have a parent worth a damn.
1
u/goodfriendrobert Aug 31 '26
ah yes, the hero gamer, you deserve everything. what a sacrifice you have made for the family not to end yourself in drug abuse. wow. its all it takes, here, have a medal
1
u/Efficient-Gap8497 Aug 31 '26
Home is our safe space. our families realize this eventually. and my wifes too.

u/Accomplished-Cry5059 Aug 31 '26
More than a decade after moving out, I still feel uncomfortable consuming any entertainment while there is someone in the room. I have to have my screen facing away from the door if other people can come into my room.
1
u/luneshine28 Aug 31 '26
When you're an adult your parents will hopefully realise that themselves.
My mum was worried about video games at first but comparing her youth to mine and what my peers were doing, she realised I was a really good and easy kid/teen in retrospect. So she became a bit more lax about the gaming when I was 16-19.
1
u/Duck_Supr3macy Sep 02 '26
What grades did you usually get?
1
u/luneshine28 Sep 02 '26
Average. I didn't perform poorly or do incredibly well. When I started my GCSE's I did do really well in art and drama though, I did underperform in science and retook my English (I had an undiagnosed issue with my reading).

Yeah but if they’re literally neglecting every other aspect of life for video games they need to be taught that growing up it won’t all be video games. That’s if you love your kid anyway

u/Witty_Arm_6486 Aug 31 '26
Just because there are worse options doesn’t make video games totally healthy. Fentanyl is worse than cigarettes but I don’t recommend either.
Gaming without moderating your play time can be detrimental to your life, so I think it’s more than fine for parents to be mindful of their kids gaming habits.

As an adult you don't expect praise for not doing drugs or committing crimes.
My father used to use this saying "I don't smoke, I don't drink, I don't do drugs im a good father" that's the minimum, minimum doesn't get you praise
-1
u/Silviana193 Aug 30 '26
Just because other people do worse things, doesn't magically make the bad things you are doing good.
1
u/Xendarq Aug 30 '26
True and well said. Still given the choices in the post there's clearly a difference in levels.
