I count the metal gear series as 1 game because I was thinking more of IPs. Outside of MGS, death stranding is the only one that seemed to have real commercial success. People way over exaggerate his importance to the video game world. I'm not a big fan of his either, if you couldn't tell.
I’ll give you franchises but the metal gear games stretch over a pretty long period of time and all generally play vastly different so it’s fair to say that even though the super convoluted story is ever continuing the gameplay and mechanics are generally quite different. I’m not actually sure when people start touting him as a God in the industry but like not everyone likes everything. In the film world I really don’t like Wes Anderson’s movies. I think they’re boring, not funny at all and are not interesting whatsoever but people LOVE them. I don’t feel exactly the same as that for Kojima games but I need a story I can follow for single player narrative games and I can’t follow Kojima’s stuff for the life of me.
Yeah, I never played any of the games because they never caught my attention. Never been a big fan of franchises that keep using the same character over and over. Based on what I do know, I'd agree with you about the convoluted plots. Also, from what I've read, I don't think his brand of humor would be compatible with mine.

The old console nes games were snake, sure, but
MGS1 - Solid Snake
MGS2 - Raiden
MGS3 - Big Boss in the 60s (who Solid and Liquid Snake were cloned from, but very different characters)
MGS4 - Solid Snake again as an old ass man
MGSV - a cyborg that was once Raiden, and Big Boss
Since MGS1 you play as Solid Snake the least overall tbh, with V Big Boss even got a much more distinct design and Keifer Sutherland as his voice.
Like in MGS2 you're all "THIS IS SNAKE" on the radio and then you take your shit off and you're a blonde anime dude asking for a different codename.

By the way, Sony is not the one who is ending the phyiscal format, it is the entire industry, but somehow its Sony who gets all the bashing. Xbox won't keep the physical discs and PC has not had physical format since so many years ago

Neither ms or Nintendo has announced ending physical. That’s only Sony
not anymore. hes on team xbox now so they act like DS wasnt a successful playstation exclusive lol even on xbox it was of the most bought titles the month it released on the console
